“Led Zeppelin Are Over,” Jimmy Page’s Manager Declares

The plan for Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham to tour and record an album with a singer other than Robert Plant is “completely over now,” Page’s manager Peter Mensch tells Music Radar (a spokesperson for Page’s management firm confirmed to Rolling Stone that the Plant-less reunion is off). In what could be considered a tirade, Mensch said, “Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn’t see them in 2007, you missed them. It’s done. I can’t be any clearer than that.” Robert Plant, who will continue working with Raising Sand partner Alison Krauss, previously told fans it would two years before he’d even consider touring again with Zep, so Mensch’s announcement that the band is “over” is distressing to those willing to be patient.

Thankfully, however, it looks like Creed won’t be reuniting either as plans to draft Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy — or any singer for that matter — for Plant’s spot look dead as well. Mensch admits the band auditioned some new frontmen, but “no one worked out.” “That was it. The whole thing is completely over now,” Mensch added. “There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it.”

We would stop talking about it, but just yesterday Mensch was making headlines after telling BBC6 radio that the band planned to reunite with a new singer. “They decided that if they could find a singer that they thought would fit their bill, whatever their bill was at this stage in their career, that they’d make a record and go on tour,” Mensch said. Still, Mensch might not exactly be in the loop, as he responded to Jimmy Page’s possible 2009 plans, “Fuck if I know. I’m waiting to hear.”

Well, at least there was some piece of good news in there stating that Creed won’t be touring.

“There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it.”

Relax dude – it’s been mentioned a couple times. It’s not like you’re that big that people care. If Page or Plant had that statement, it would mean something. But Creed? Haha…yeah, right. Your wish is granted. No one will talk about from here on out…or even before this.

LedZep#1Fan | 1/8/2009, 9:24 am EST

Sounds like Peter Mensch does not know his a#$ from his elbow!!

You mean the band whose original drummer(one of the all-time greats) died in 1980, the band who broke up shortly thereafter and have only reunited something like 3 times… That band is OVER?!

I’m shocked and offended.

And yes, I would buy a DVD of o2. Pretty please.

Joe | 1/8/2009, 11:07 am EST

Thank God. If you have no new material to bring to the table then don’t bother. I love LZ but come on.

Hock Ptooey | 1/8/2009, 11:09 am EST

First thought … Jimmy Page looks asian.

Second thought … Zeppelin reunion is being held up by Alison Krauss?!?!

C’mon.

crazyhorse108 | 1/8/2009, 11:42 am EST

Nobody on the planet would be more stoked than I to see the mighty Zep reunite… but seriously; kudos to Plant for loyalty to the muse that leads him. You gotta appreciate the artist that says what he means, and means what he says..

And, Alison Krause is an incredible performer; unfair to infer a Yoko principle to a band that hasn’t really existed for nearly 30 years anyway.

Mr. Mucus | 1/8/2009, 11:46 am EST

Led Zep are NOT over. It just so happens that they be playing in my basement this Saturday in front of me and buddies right after we all pop some acid and smoke some super weed. Yeah! Led Zep lives!

mad axeman | 1/8/2009, 12:30 pm EST

fine, find another singer and don’t call it zeppelin, what the hells the big deal, plant’s smart for not doing a reunion tour if his heart isn’t into it.and i agree the new news is no creed reunion

Steve | 1/8/2009, 12:33 pm EST

Dang. I guess the opportunity to further destroy the Led Zep legacy has passed. Oh well, maybe Jimmy Page can find some other way to pay the rent.

Hock Ptooey | 1/8/2009, 1:13 pm EST

Not inferring the Yoko Principal.

What I was implying is that Led Zeppelin is so much larger than Alison Krauss.

It’s like having the chance to QB in the Super Bowl, but choosing to play in the Grey Cup. No offense to the CFL.

Nah.... | 1/8/2009, 1:49 pm EST

What’s wrong with Plant pursuing other musical avenues? Does he have to drop everything he is doing now to be nostalgic and tour with Zep?
No fucking way.
Zeppelin died with John.
Game over.
Fuck off.

SHAP | 1/8/2009, 1:56 pm EST

The kings of cock-rock are overrated anyway. So, put down the hash pipes and join the future, Zep-heads. Bonham (along with their BS-black magic marketing plan) was the only truly great thing about the band, and unfortunately, the man is dead. Let his legacy rest. Besides, Page is starting to look like one of our first five presidents with that white mop on his head. Is he going to play a solo with a feather pen, instead of a violin bow? Gimme a break.

drew | 1/8/2009, 1:57 pm EST

fucking bullshit!!!

Well... | 1/8/2009, 1:58 pm EST

Hock, it’s what motivates you, pure and simple. Plant’s not 20 years old. What motivates him is the love of making new and interesting music for HIM, and right now, he’s interested in working with Krauss again. Why deny him that? Zep? He’s been there, done that. Plain and simple.

Goo | 1/8/2009, 2:06 pm EST

Methinks Jimmy Page needs a new manager who isn’t an A-1 douche.

Joe | 1/8/2009, 2:07 pm EST

Oh, and Krauss and Plant are music magic, pure and simple.

Luke | 1/8/2009, 2:10 pm EST

I am 100% for constant artistic expression, if you have it, and I really do admire Plant for going on with his impulses and endeavors.
However, I don’t think it would’ve been nostalgia with them…neither do I think it would’ve been a foolish move nor selling out in any way. If they were into nostalgia they would’ve done something a long time ago. Besides a couple of one-offs, they haven’t done a real show in almost 30 years. So there is some resentment at Plant for this, I must confess. But for the others to quit everything would be equally foolish..it’s lovely to know they still have the passion..go for it..seems like they were into getting out some new music as well.

MAXWELLWILLIAM | 1/8/2009, 2:14 pm EST

How many more must die for Bush lies?

Nostradamus | 1/8/2009, 2:30 pm EST

Just because they are too stupid to use the bastard son of Robert Plant. Look how well it worked with Bonzos lad. Go on find him! Hes from downunder. You can find him if you follow the trail of the famous British explorer from the 1700’s!! Go figure!! What do you think Percy was doing when e was touring downunder? This is the guy! He looks like Plant, sings like him and he is young!

GtrBluz | 1/8/2009, 2:39 pm EST

I have seen Plant 18 times with Zeppelin and about a dozen times post zeppelin.
The Krauss thing is by far the weakest thing he has done musically however it’s also the most financially successful. Also, Krauss is pleasent to look at, so no wonder Plant’s not ready to call that relationship quits.

rob | 1/8/2009, 2:42 pm EST

Does Plant think he would be able to even have a successful tour with Krauss if it wasn’t for Led Zep? Furthermore, to torture Page and Jones, he covers Zep songs with Krauss during the concert! What the f***?
I was hoping Page and Jones could pull this off since Plant is holding them hostage.
Plant wants Page to wait 2 more years for a decision? Page will be almost 70!
Plant is so obnoxious to me.

GtrBluz | 1/8/2009, 2:47 pm EST

My comment of financially successful is meant for recent years, Post LZ, and sure we all know that a LZ reunion would be one of the most financially successful tours ever.

fredwildebeest | 1/8/2009, 2:51 pm EST

Im gonna wait for the 50th anniversary concert of Zeps forming. Jimmy should be in Depends fitted sapnadex and Plant’s jowels will be in good ol’ swagger with his aching hip joints.

Hopefully this means Creed wont get back together….

Brien Comerford | 1/8/2009, 3:10 pm EST

Jeff Beck has always been England’s most dynamic guitarist and his live performances are still spellbinding. Far superior to Page in concert.

JEN | 1/8/2009, 3:10 pm EST

Well I flew 3500 miles to see them in London on 12-10-07 so I have no regrets!

detoxg | 1/8/2009, 3:19 pm EST

led zeppelin is one of the biggest bands to reunite and van halen it was amazing when bands like that get together and play again. but the biggest band which in due to reunite and probably the biggest ever is guns n roses, that will clearly be unbelievable to see

Mike | 1/8/2009, 3:45 pm EST

This manager guy is a moron. He JUST said that they will tour and record, now they’re not? What an idiot. He should be fired.

Just wait until Plant is done with Krauss in a couple years. He may be more content then.

Mike | 1/8/2009, 3:47 pm EST

I would love to see their 2007 reunion on DVD and Blu-Ray, too.

New Blood | 1/8/2009, 4:02 pm EST

New Blood | 1/8/2009, 4:06 pm EST

I mean the new Led Zep? Who cares about the old broom? Lets bring it on with the new broom. As Nostri said: Go figure and folow the threads.

Anonymous | 1/8/2009, 4:31 pm EST

Good, now we don’t have to hear about this anymore. Robert Plant sucks

RockHer | 1/8/2009, 4:55 pm EST

YAY!!! I hope this means that Alter Bridge can hit the studios even sooner to work on a 3rd album! Good news!!!

CR1ZZ | 1/8/2009, 5:13 pm EST

How the hell did creed come into this report? I agree that the reunion should be put on dvd. If jimmy page and all the rest got together with a new singer, and they changed their name and wrote some new decent material then there is no issue. Robert plant is being a pain. Why the fuck does e still want to work with that country singer, who no-one cares about, when he could be touring with the greatest band of all-time? He can wait as long as he wants but he can’t denie this raising sand bull-shit is more succesful than zeppelin. One day when he realises this they will do another reunion.

lol | 1/8/2009, 5:20 pm EST

we all knew this. I bet some people are annoyed, now that it has been confirmed

CR1ZZ | 1/8/2009, 5:22 pm EST

Sorry not denie. Honestly say.
My apologies.

i want page and the guys on tour now

P. Diddy | 1/8/2009, 6:14 pm EST

Thank God. A reunited Zep would just churn out the same album-exact versions of songs they did at O2 in London. That’s not what their shows are supposed to be like. They had an amazing run and they should just leave it at that. Leave their legacy unblemished.

Plant is the only one making anything that’s worth a damn. Raising Sand is an excellent album, it was one of the best of 07. He knows Zep can’t be what it once was so he decided to do something different musically and it came out beautiful. Bravo, Mr. Plant, bravo.

zeppliniscool | 1/8/2009, 6:15 pm EST

I for one and a bit ticked off at this guys comments, as it is we the fans of LZ that paid his way in part. The least he could do is pretend to care for us now……..
as for Jimmy and the rest getting back together I hope this manager IS NOT the last word and that in some form they do get back together. I want my chance to see my favorite band.

the ghost of robert johnson | 1/8/2009, 6:59 pm EST

Jimmy Page should get Jack White and the Robinson brothers, along with John Paul Jones on bass and Jason Bonham on drums and just go and play some songs live. It’s not that difficult. Just play music, no outside drama. Robert Plant can go and whisper songs with Alison Krauss. Everybody wins!!!!!!!

New Blood | 1/8/2009, 7:03 pm EST

Guys. They just need the right singer and they havent looked hard enough! I gave you all a hint, but cant do more. LZ needs to go into stage 2. New songs is the way forward! With the right singer! Robert Plants bastard son can do it, easily.

Nostradamus | 1/8/2009, 7:06 pm EST

Sounds good to me. So who is this guy? How can they find him? Why dont they look for him?
I am sick of always listenign to the same, same, same, same… Give me a NEW super band! And by the way, I love LZ. I dont want to take anything away from Pagey. He has always done a great job, and well, now he wants to tour AK. Wise decision I think.

Nostradamus | 1/8/2009, 7:08 pm EST

Axel, if this is you. You are great too! Please whoever is looking at this…the world needs more good singers….

Michelanglo | 1/8/2009, 7:11 pm EST

Ok. I agree. LZ, but with a new, unknown singer, new songs, perhaps even a new band name? Why not? Gimme something new, not the old stuff.

Joe | 1/8/2009, 7:13 pm EST

yes, thats a cool idea. A new singer. The problem is when you use someone known it always sounds like one of the other bands they have been singing with before..its NOT unique.and the world need unique again.

"RED" | 1/8/2009, 7:14 pm EST

I DON’T KNOW IF ANYBODY ELSE DETECTS SOMETHIN’ STRANGE GOING ON…BUT I DO…

I WANT LZ to tour again! But NOT with Myles or any of the other guys. I want someone cool, someone like Plant who can deliver this cool performance. Dont know who could do that, never seen it anywhere to be honest.

Minos | 1/8/2009, 7:19 pm EST

yeah. I want them out there too! I agree, with a new, cool singer!

Alexander | 1/8/2009, 7:22 pm EST

reverse psychology, hey? Hm, sounds all a bit weird. Theyre probably watching our conversation now. Ok, so what do I think? Please tour, give me a great performance and give me a singer that can deliver!!! Whoever that might be. What did that guy mean with the british explorer? Didnt get that riddle.

Hogleg | 1/8/2009, 10:48 pm EST

Hey Krause, get the fuck out of the way and let the whole world see one of the greatest original rock bands of all time. Who the fuck are you anyway, you inconsiderate bitch.

basser | 1/8/2009, 10:57 pm EST

Page, Plant and Jason Bonham should not tour as Zeppelin. Without Plant, it would be wrong. They should follow The Who Rule – all living (original) members must be in the band to still call it the same band. Having a Plant clone would be ridiculous people. If they did have a new singer, they should go a completely different route and find a singer with a completely different style/sound, and NOT call it Led Zeppelin.

Srch! | 1/8/2009, 11:00 pm EST

Yep, and thats what this guy is like!! Different, new, but he Fits the band perfectly! As I said, go figure.

New Blood | 1/8/2009, 11:21 pm EST

Who wants a Plant clone? They need to move forward. New songs. Someone that can write too, but not from a well known band with the same, same sound from another band. Boooooring. Give us something new!

Kylie | 1/8/2009, 11:25 pm EST

Ok, guys. Now from a girls perspective. I love LZ but think that RP is too old now. He is perfect with AK. Thats a great match and very wise from him to do. I also think LZ would look stupid with a 25 yr old singer, someone in Jasons age would be good.Someone who has the looks, and who can fit to the band. remember, LZ is about Heavy and Light. I have only seen singers that are either weak or too heavy, not one that can sing soft and then heavy. This band has a theme a brand.

nik | 1/8/2009, 11:55 pm EST

ah thats too bad. im happy they didnt do it though cuz it wouldnt be the same without plant. if he wants to do it someday that would be awesome!

Phil | 1/9/2009, 1:46 am EST

Hey people, Jimmy is 65, Plant looks even older with his faked died hair. So, if Plant comes out in 2-3 years what will they call the band then?
Led Zimmerframe?
Is there no one on the planet that can play guitar and have a friend who can also sing with him with a killer rhythm section? Are we forever doomed with Stairway to heaven being the last great song ever written? Well, I guess we are unless they get their pacemakers and buspass.

Mal | 1/9/2009, 1:48 am EST

yeah, like the strolling bones…

Bed slept in | 1/9/2009, 1:52 am EST

I sure would like to see Steve Morse reunite The Dixie Dregs as well.

Pentatonic Dave | 1/9/2009, 8:39 am EST

They stunk the joint out the last time they performed. Plant can’t hit the notes and Page couldn’t even remember the solo to Stairway. Let it go. It is over.

Creed does suck though, seriously

SatansWingman | 1/9/2009, 12:39 pm EST

I remember they reunited in ‘86 for some Atlantic records anniversary…they played Kashmir and something else…Page was horrible…he sounded like a twelve y.o. trying to learn to play Kashmir…it was sad and painfull to watch…the truth is, everything after ZEP II was gonna sound weak live due to all of the studio work and overdubbing on those albums…and it’s not like I am some ZEP Hater…I think Page/Jones were among the greatest rock composers ever…I just think they could only dissapoint live…especially after what I saw in ‘86…

Hock Ptooey | 1/9/2009, 12:45 pm EST

Hey. The Faces are getting back together. Can we get some more news on that?

Dayve | 1/9/2009, 1:44 pm EST

I agree with Plant; Zep died when Bonzo did. I cringed when I heard about a possible tour w/o Plant. It was cool when they reunited for that one last concert in 2007, but they did suck at the previous two reunion shows. I remember seeing them in ‘77 in Seattle at the old Kingdome. Some psychic predicted that the Dome would collapse cuz they were so LOUD! I was about 50 ft. back from one bank of amps and I was partially deaf for days afterward! That show and all the Who shows I saw in ‘75 & ‘76 I blame for my hearing loss today. I still have my memories and my LP’s, but Zep was all about the group, not just 2 or 3 of them. Led Zep is dead, gone but NOT forgotten!

THAT’S REALLY WHAT I BELIEVE THIS IS…A “SMOKE SCREEN” TO THROW EVERYBODY OFF…HE BARKED AT THE PRESS AS WELL AS US THE FANS…BUT I BET HIS BITE WOULDN’T!!! JIMMY, JOHN PAUL JONES AND JASON HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO TOUR…WITH OR WITHOUT PLANT!! THEY’RE GIFTED MUSICIANS…SOMEONE PLEASE COME UP WITH AN IDEA TO GET THEM ON THE ROAD….PAGE/JONES/BONHAM PROJECT…AND WHEN PLANTY IS READY….ONE LAST LED ZEPPELIN WORLD TOUR!! “RED”

John | 1/9/2009, 2:54 pm EST

umm Led Zep is over? wasnt this news back in like 1982? and a word to the poster “axl rose”…what exactly is Slash “laughing” at, The fact that the worst song on “Chinese Democracy” is better than anything Slash has done for the last 15 years? Yes that is hilarious…

The Dude | 1/9/2009, 3:23 pm EST

Hey, “R E D”, calm down, man. Smoke a blunt or something. You’re getting a little too excited, and I’m afraid you might tinkle in your britches.

Zep rocks, but let Plant do what he wants. Move on, Jimmy, just give us some more previously unreleased live stuff.

The Dude abides…

Axl Rose | 1/9/2009, 3:51 pm EST

To John. No. Slash is laughing at my album sales. Dumbass.

Eddy fromBelgium | 1/9/2009, 4:38 pm EST

Maybe Terry Reid could go on tour with Page, Jones and Bonham.
Anyway I saw them at the O2 (frontrow), and I am glad I did. A terrific show but certainly not the same as the 75 shows in Brussels, even if these were warmups for an american tour.
It was a great band last year, but really Led Zeppelin no longer exists.
By the way I love Bron-Yr-Aur in the Summer.

Tell me is part of a strategy, when plant finished his tour, give him a breather, then, maybe he will re-consider.

People we are loosing a great band, John Bonham is resting now. Plant, Page and Jones should be together and take a final world tour.

drgeff | 1/9/2009, 9:05 pm EST

Cool, RIP LED ZEP !!!
Thanks for the rock n’ roll of days long gone now, this was the band when I was a kid, lets let go people there is soooo much other music out there for us to love and dance to…
check out MOE !

Relax, if u want 2 people…..Since LZ had a pro crew vid the 07 concert with multiple cams, there will be a DVD, etc. When, is the next question….I’m hoping for soon….Java Jive Jay

mATTERgOD | 1/9/2009, 11:32 pm EST

Poor Peter Mensch, he thought this would be his big payday…then, BAM…no reunion whatsoever. Now Zep is poised to only make money off of royalties which will help Mr. Mensch none.

Being a manager of a legend isn’t what it used to be!!!

Jewboy David | 1/9/2009, 11:53 pm EST

Robert Plant is a scumbag. He sucked since 1980

auramac | 1/10/2009, 5:16 am EST

I prefer Plant’s current project at this point in time anyway, but Zeppelin should do nothing unless he’s the singer.

Roughplant | 1/10/2009, 9:26 am EST

How many steps down will the band have to tune for Robert’s voice to make it through?? Plant’s vocal chords couldn’t handle a tour even if he wanted to do one. They’re better off doing occasional one-off’s for charitable causes

rockballs | 1/10/2009, 11:48 am EST

hey page why don’t youget back to whipping and lying to women then ripping off muddy waters and buddy guy then go to your black magic castle and take a dump.
plant looks like a prune and zepp died when bozo died!

rockballs | 1/10/2009, 12:07 pm EST

big news for all you zepp fans!
zepp going to do ex lax and depends commercials with page pissing in his pants then running to grab his huggies then plant will be in the news with a 10 hour erection that a new product called LED BONE did to him.
groupies get ready to rock these SAVAGE ANIMALS!

tomservo8769 | 1/10/2009, 1:33 pm EST

I’m for anything that prevents Creed from reuniting!!!

Lewie Khuhtewie | 1/10/2009, 4:41 pm EST

yeah, Zep will be back one day, wheeled out in Wheel Chairs, with Plant becoming even more of a wrinkled prune then he is now. People are going to throw rotten egges & tomatoes.
It’s over for them, and you morons here on the Blog had better understand that!

"R E D" | 1/10/2009, 11:00 pm EST

HET ‘DUDE’ WHAT’S UP? YEAH MY PREVIOUS COMMENT WAS PRETTY “HEATED” BUT TRUE….SMOKE A BLUNT, HUH? LOL..:)..I STILL SAY THIS IS ALL SO THE “PRESS” WILL BACK OFF…WATCH….BY THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER SOMETHING WILL SURFACE IF NOT BEFORE…I SAID IT ONCE I’LL SAY IT AGAIN…IT’S A “SMOKE SCREEN”…(THERE’S A FEELING I GET WHEN I LOOK TO THE EAST)..
(AND IT MAKES ME WONDER)…BUT LIKE WHY ARE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THEM IN PAST TENSE????!!!! LOOK AT THE STONES…THEY’RE UP THERE IN YEARS AND STILL TOURING BUT I REMEMBER WATCHING AN INTERVIEW WITH PLANT AFTER THE 02 AND HE SAID “IT’S NOT ABOUT GOING ‘ROUND AND ‘ROUND LIKE THE STONES…A BUNCH OF BORED OLD MEN’..PLANT NEVER, EVER SAID HE WOULD NEVER, EVER DO ANOTHER GIG WITH ZEPPELIN…IT’S JUST RIGHT NOW HE’S STICK UP ALISON’S *%@!!!! *RED*

Cara Elizabeth | 1/11/2009, 4:52 pm EST

No one cares about Creed.

And coming from a Led Zeppelin non-fan (I am a girl), I am getting really sick of this on-again-off-again reunion touring thing. Make up your minds! It wouldn’t be the band without Robert Plant, anyway!

Jimmy Page needs a new manager.

rockballs | 1/12/2009, 9:45 am EST

big news!
plant poops in his pants during the reunion show can page slips on his turn ramming his guitar into bonham jr’s drums then jones barfs on plants head.
WOW THIS REUNION TOUR KICKS MAJOR ASS!
oh yeah and the stones are still doing it because they can still handle it and mick doesn’t need to sing the songs in a different unlike prune boy!

Stuart | 1/12/2009, 9:56 am EST

If Zeppelin ever do come together and they come out in wheel chairs and oxygen masks they will still be a billion times harder, heavier, and most importantly better than your precious fall out boy, kanye west, britney spears, beyonce, nickel back, common, kid rock, pink, miley fucking cyrus, t.i. and the rest of your new “rolling stone rock bands” combined. Seriously Rolling Stone you should really think about changing your name to “Teeny Bop” or “Rap R Us”. You are no longer a rock magazine.

Ty | 1/12/2009, 10:44 am EST

yea if zepplin do come rock out all hagard and old they will jam harder than any rap or country or fruity disney hannah montana or high school musical bull sh*t so dont bash the band cus they will always be super rockin till the day they die

Baba | 1/12/2009, 1:34 pm EST

That’s all well and good, but why the photo of Karl Lagerfeld to accompany the article? ;-)

Zep 1 is 40 | 1/13/2009, 12:33 am EST

Today is the 40th anniversary of the original release date of Led Zeppelin I and i’m hoping this will signal to the remaining band members particularly (love stricken) Robert Plant to consider this reunion tour ASAP. Granted any Zep reunion would be less painful to listen to than today’s watered down 10th generation schlock and hoe artists, but might soil their legacy and also be kind of restrictive considering all the requirements needed to ensure potentially flammable materials such as adult diapers and oxygen masks don’t combust.

jeff | 1/13/2009, 9:04 am EST

To David lee Roth, get over to 5150 and finish the album with Ed will ya? We are waiting, by the way, Led Zep, Van Halen stadium tour if you really want to make some money.

zepp died when bonzo died!
now plant looks like a piece of shit or a stale fig.
if he did a tour he’d need a years supply of kaopectate, preparation h, huggies, and some viagra.
plant rocks as hard as the turd i just plopped in the dumper and page has lost his mojo.
jeff beck blows him off the planet and bonham jr is NO BONZO!
get over it.
the dream is over and these guys lived too hard to where they’re now FRIED UP.
plant can no longer sing like a woman who has cramps and page looks like FROSTY THE FREAKIN SNOWMAN!
the stones still kick their ass and have always had better music than the caveman racket these guys were putting out.
led zepp today equals= piece of POOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

T | 1/13/2009, 10:02 am EST

rolling stone puts on their cover britney spears and took 200 years to put one of the greatest rock bands in acdc.
now the band that they ripped ferociously led zeppelin are talked about here.
well yes they should quit because the TRUTH if rolling stone wants to hear it is led zepp is way past their prime and died when bonzo died!
plant looks like a freakin prune and page looks like frosty the snowman.
if they went on tour you’d see:
page poops in his pants, plants teeth fall out as he tries to sing like a woman with cramps, and bonham jr. cries like a big baby because he knows he can’t fill his daddys shoes.
sepp are a piece of poop now and the stones still kick their butt!
zepp=poop! and stones=gods!
now rolling stone this is about your precious topic so if you want the truth then print it and stop being a sellout to anything that’s popular!

Hey dudes, I just got out of prison, and thank goodness, for some old Zep tapes they had laying around.
Plant got me through the 6 month rap, they let us play tapes 1 hour a day in the courtyard, and Zep along with the Stones & Procol harum, & even Herman’s hermits helped me to survive in there.
Will not listen to the new stuff -not interested!
Long live Robert Plan, so you all cut the negative shit right now, I’m telling you to, -got it!
Robert Plant can come back whenever the hell he pleases, if you got a problem, then step right up, I’m waiting -Joey

Don Zeppione | 1/14/2009, 6:57 pm EST

Well, why couldn’t they make a album together? Jimmy Page say’d that he got a lot of new tunes written (without lyrics) he’s proud of, ready to be made into songs (ad some magic dust from Bobby). Now, record it, carve it in/on vinyl and I will buy it! An occasional one-off and I will try (if they are not to expensive :$) and buy a ticket!
At least I’ve seen Page & Plant on tour and that was one of the best concerts I ever attended! But that was not Zep… COME BACK ON A ROCKER FOR MY PART.
With love from Holland

denzepp58 | 2/7/2009, 5:21 pm EST

I loved Stuarts comment about the content of RS nowadays. My wife calls it Tweener Stone or Rolling Tweener. True, in this day of Bands like Coldplay and Fall out Boy and the Jonas Brothers that Rule the charts proving that no one has any taste these days, why can’t they write about Queens of the stone age, black keys or the secret machines? As far as ZEPPELIN are concerned, RS always dissed them and still do. And although my wife thinks Plant should wash his hair, who cares about what the look like as long as they can still jam? Which they proved last year. Pagey still rules on guitar and has been able to outrock “GOD” for thirty years. “GOD” has been playing like an old man for thirty years and only knows how to play the blues( very well I must say, however).P.S., my wife says that coldplay is elevator music at best,Chris Martin sings like a girl and that KISS sucks, always has sucked and always will suck to which I happily agree.

lebloom | 2/8/2009, 2:00 pm EST

I just watched Robert Plant on Soundstage and I would say he still has it and that the reunion would be worth it. Sure he’s older but he still can sing and I would pay good money to see Led Zeppelin today. He sung Whole Lotta Love and it did sound good to hear that stuff come out. Bring Back Zeppelin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

xannax | 2/11/2009, 8:43 am EST

you know it’s a damn shame that plant would waste 2 yrs. of time touring with some shitty country music buthead like{a. krauss} to skip touring with jimmy a.k.a.led zeppelin. page continue on you don’t need him…make your c.d. it will sell. plant for my part would not even be conciderd a comback at this point, let him turn country but stop using zepp’s songs he’ll go broke fast………….

Hermine | 2/27/2009, 2:15 pm EST

Now you made me cry! I was crying yesterday because I was thinking I never will get the chance to see Led Zeppelin live, but later I thought “life is full of chances!”

But now, the rolling stone magazine killed my hopes, and I will never forgive you. I love Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page, and whatever happens, there will always be a special place in my heart for Jimmy Page and Zeppelin.

al, w | 2/28/2009, 3:26 pm EST

led zep are the best band ever, without doubt, plant was one of the best, if not the best rock singers ever, but sadly they have had their day, and plant knows it , he can,t sing even half as good as he used to, if he could,he,d be well up for it, led zep should retire with their pride intact, and leave everybody , their brilliant music , on their albums, their day is over, if page and jones want to carry on ,they should get a new singer totally differant from plant and change their name, move on……al…uk

Hermine | 3/1/2009, 8:49 am EST

al, w: You’re right! :) They could get a new singer, but then they have to change the name. No one except the real Zeppelin-guys can be a Led Zeppelin member.

WE WANT LED ZEPPELIN!!!

Tono_Indonesia | 3/12/2009, 9:51 am EST

I’m glad Led Zepp plans to reunite. I hope you can write a song as great as Sairway to Heaven

freya | 3/16/2009, 3:49 pm EST

Zepp has reunited over the years and Plant was not impressed with the results, except on a few occasions. I believe he likened it to ’sleeping with your ex and not having sex’. Anyway, you lot need to realize people grow and change, and of course his voice is different now; is your singing voice the same as it was decades ago? Of course not. Years of making it do wondeful (but damaging) things have taken their toll. So you should be grateful for that, and accept that people need to change. He’s moved on from rock, and had shown signs of that way back (acoustic songs, Indiand influences, etc.) He’s an artist, artists need to change and find inspiration. Staying the same, doing the same songs, that’s like suicide for creative people.

L | 4/12/2009, 6:55 pm EST

oh please. Zep has always been second rate. Hell they stole 1/3 of their songs and usually settled out of court by paying off the plaintiffs. Sure they alway had the biggest audiences but transport back to the early seventies and and they where always considered “white trash” counter parts to the far superior and stylish Rolling Stones.
Thanks god they’re over!

Hubart | 5/1/2009, 7:52 am EST

Zeppelin always appealed to musicians and people that appreciate depth in music. A band packed with talent. I think they will tour again, with robert, with jason. lets be patient. but will they record again, i dont know, song writing is about production now.

Avacado | 5/22/2009, 3:29 pm EST

Hey! What about Adam Lambert!!! LOLLL. He can replace Robert?? Wonder if anyone is still reading this??? Only kidding. Has anyone EVER heard Robert’s more current solo stuff? It’s freaking amazing. What about another solo tour incorporating Page?? Raising of Sand has to get old for him sooner or later. He’s gotta keep movin. Check out “No Quarter” DVD. See what I mean. Also, notice how even with AK, he STILL STILL sings Led Zep songs? And he looks exhilerated every time he does. He still LOVES that music. Get over the insecurities Robert! You’re better than anyone out there young or old.

Fred's Zepplin... | 5/26/2009, 5:08 pm EST

Damn, and here I was going to pull the stunt to trick JP etc. al by having John Lydon audition for the lead singer spot as a practical joke.

Becka | 8/25/2009, 1:59 pm EST

They can’t be simply “over.” Altough frustrating, I think Plant just wants to do something new. If they never tour again, of course it will be sad, but Zep’s music is still just as alive as it was when it first came out, and it’s the music that counts. And Jesus christ, they’re Led Zeppelin. I don’t think they will ever just be “over.” But one thing I’d like to point out… Page’s manager seems a little touchy in this article… don’t you think? He needs to chill man… Fuck, you’re Jimmy Page’s manager! Life if good for you… relax man.

Keep it real,
Becka

RebelRo | 9/20/2009, 10:12 pm EST

This has just gone too f**king faarrr!!
I have always liked and eventually loved Zeppelins music, since first being introduced to it by my older brother back in the 70’s, and now his youngest son is a big, big, and knowledgeable fan, and I’m happy to say that I had quite a big hand in that!(Hiya Luke by the way if your tuning in to this!!)

But back to the reunion gig. I realised when I saw the bunch of ‘celebrity crapheads’ that got tickets to the gig, that in a sense they the band had ’sold out’, and in my opinion lost the essence of what for me anyway, there music stood for!!
It really PISSED ME OFF BIG TIME, and still does to have seen these so-called ‘celebrity’ ‘fans’ get tickets’!!

Obviously there where going to be many many dissapointed people
the demand was so overwhelming, but when you see turds and tossers like CLARKSON and HAMMOND get tickets, yet before hand you never heard these employees of the BBC asking why Led Zeppelin has been so ignored and sidelined by that organisation, or that was until they became flavour of the month, for literally just that back in 2007, it just grinds my gears big time!! And unsurprisingly as I would have expected, the band have now been allowed to fade back into (a ‘manufactured’) mainstream establishment obscurity!!

As far as I am concerned Plant et al and there management should have put the real fans and ideally the British ones first, like my brother, an ordinary bloke who saw them back in 67 at the Mountford Hall at Liverpool University, and who bought all there albums while working hard and earning his money on the god damned assembly lines at the Ford car plant at Halewood! In fact he only retired from there last year!!
Its guys like him and his youngest son who should have been given the chance of a better oppurtunity to see the gig, and if its true what my nephew told me, that Plant said ‘they did’nt do it for the fans’ that is the whole thing, then as hard as it to say, maybe they should’nt bother and the rest of have to come to terms with this!!
I, although I don’t really follow any of this in detail, think that Plant is basically too scared he can’t manage it, and although I can’t really forgive him for the comment about the fans, what did he want to do, spend the rest of his playing days performing in his bedroom to friends or in small obcure venues in pubs and clubs! I mean come on Robert, without the fans, the group of people who formed Led Zeppelin would have had a far less interesting carrer, and enjoyabe times during their lives!

I can totally understand the person who provides the voice (for any band for that matter), having doubts about coping with the stesses of performing, well its sound generated by the human body and ’soul’, not something you can just plug in and turn on and up automaticaly and electronically!!

As regards a replacement, I cannot think of anyone better than the singer from the tribute band LETZ ZEP! This guy not only looks quite a lot like Plant, but probably more importantly he actually sounds prety much like him, and has an exceelent stage presence close to Plants!!
Myself, my broher, and nephew, saw this tribute act at the very same Mountford Hall in late 2007, where the singer actually reffered to the gig Zeppelin played there back in 67 my brother had attended, and although I had gone there without high expectation I was blown away by their ability, and quality of their representation of Led Zeppelins music, and believe me I am not easily impressed!! In fact I remember thinking if I was their manager I would really ‘big them up’ around the world I was that enthused by their act!
The only problem I had with it was the over amplification of the singers mic. which did take the edge off what otherwise would have been a pretty perfect performance, (I hope they got that sorted for subsequent gigs), oh that is apart from not playin When the Levee Breaks, the tune my brother was shouting out for at the end when they asked the crowd for requests!1

Anyway hope you guys and gals out there managed to stick with this to the ‘bitter end’ of my discourse! In fact I’ve just realised this could be seen as a pun or ‘epitah’ with regard to the bands future or lack of it, but I sincerely hope it is’nt dspite what I have previously written!!!!!!!!!

Remember , ‘always read between the lines’ as the truth is out there, not in a f**king phony X-files way, but in our real world everyday lives way!!

SEE THE LIGHT,
RO.

Allen | 10/11/2009, 8:33 pm EST

o well, they wouldn’t be the same without the original singer anyway.
