Gregg Allman’s illness forced the Allman Brothers Band to cancel 2008’s annual run at New York’s Beacon Theatre, but the Southern jam band will be back in ‘09 — Austin Scaggs has the scoop on special guests and more in the Smoking Section. Plus, 83-year-old B.B. King continues to be a road warrior and Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn tours south of the border. Full dates for all three jaunts, after the jump.

Gregg Allman has the most soulful voice and his organ chops are killer. Stay healthy Gregg we need your voice in this cruel world.

The first Allman Brothers concert I saw was with Duane and Berry in early ‘71. The tickets were $2 each, and they never sounded better than they did then. Irregardless, I will gladly pay whatever they want again and again to see them now…what the hell, it falls on payday anyway.

Happy 40th Allmans! A band that has been around this long that can still rock like they do, we are indeed fortunate to have them around! This band has so much depth & musical talent that words cannot even describe! I’ve seen many great band’s & artist’s over the year’s, but none make you feel as good as when you see the Allman’s live in concert! May THE ROAD GO ON FOREVER!
