Who has the money to pay to see the real U2, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stone. I don’t nor would I really want to spend the outrageous amount of money to see these acts when they are no longer in their prime. I was at Fremont Street because I didn’t have the hundreds of dollars to see Pink or Kid Rock who were performing on the strip. Instead I enjoyed myself for $20 along with 30,000 other people who didn’t seem to upset that they were there (Fremont Street. As for Mini Kiss why are they entertaining? If you are such a tribute snob, why would vertically challenged impersonators of KISS entertain you?

Well, music “fans” this is all your fault. In the last few years the only bands that (most)people go out to see are the tribute bands. They eat up all the good dates at the bars, have spiffy media kits and slick managers and have KILLED the bar bands.

Just try to make a living playing rock and roll. Even if you do mostly cover songs you will find that there is no room at the inn anymore.

I can sell out a club any nite of the week in Atlanta with my band doing a “Led Zeppelin Nite” but can’t even get a wednesday nite gig at the same club doing 50% covers & 50% original music.

The U2 Cover band owns the Irish Pub, the Motely Crue and Bon Jovi cover bands own the rock clubs, Satisfaction (who you mentioned in the article) played here in Atlanta and I thought they were OK, but after the “house of wax” wore off I was bored and they only had about 30 songs on their song list!!! (I requested “Child Of The Moon” and “Who’s Driving Your Plane” just to be an ass.)

Of course Freemont Street is like Reno, not like “The Strip” most of the people there are so smashed on $1 shooters that they passed out half way through and woke up in bed with the fake Ron Wood.

Las Vegas scares me.

Las Vegas only gets fake when visiting scribes get duped into covering Fremont Street and not the Strip.

I think someone who looks like me would like to see that, but they are already going to Les Vegas this year.
