New Music Report: Singles of the Year, Plus Best & Worst Ideas in Rock and MGMT Clip

12/30/08, 12:30 pm EST

In Part II of our special Year in Music New Music Report, Christian Hoard dissects Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Singles of 2008 list — led by Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” — and reveals his personal picks for the category, which include tunes by the Knux and Ida Maria. Plus, a look at the Best & Worst Ideas in Rock, from selling your record at Wal-Mart and outsourcing your lead singer (a la Journey’s Arnel Pineda) to bragging about leaking Chinese Democracy and giving your kid a ludicrous name. And our holiday gift to you: a look back at one of our favorite RS videos of the year: MGMT’s hippie-dance lesson from backstage at Bonnaroo.

Yeah guys…..I am going to have to disagree with this list…Especially the top song…I can not agree with Beyonces new single as #1…First… it hasn’t been out that long soooo there is NO WAY it sold more than anyone elses single…Secondly..it really isn’t that good…

Beyonce as the #1 song of the year? You guys should just fold the magazine and merge with Tiger Beat.

Single Ladies is a HORRIBLE song. God I can’t stand Beyonce. She doesn’t belong on ANY Top list unless it’s for the top overrated, annoying artists.
