David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is an early Oscar frontrunner, but Peter Travers has some critical words for Brad Pitt’s new film. What’s better? The depressing but brilliant Revolutionary Road, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Plus, the final scumbucket of 2008: Adam Sandler’s nauseating Bedtime Stories and Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson’s dog Marley & Me. Benjamin Button did not satisfy completely but I am trying to understand the buzz about Winslet and Di Caprio in Revolutionary Road. Screaming does not equal powerful acting. Depressing? Maybe if I cared about the characters. What happened to exposition in screenwriting? So far, The Wrestler is the most interesting award contender.

I just came from the theater after watching “Revolutionary road”. I really felt involved every millisecond of the film enjoying brilliant acting of not only Winslet and De Caprio, but also of Shannon, Bates and the whole acting crew.Enormously insightful movie combining profound emotions with subtle, yet powerful interrogation of one’s values and credentials.
