DJ AM Files Lawsuit Following Deadly Jet Crash

12/24/08, 8:50 am EST

DJ AM (a.k.a. Adam Goldstein) has filed a lawsuit over the South Carolina jet crash that left four people dead and AM and drummer Travis Barker severely burned. Barker and the family of one of the crash victims had already filed similar suits. Clay Lacy Aviation, Global Exec Aviation, Inter Travel & Services, Goodyear and Learjet were all named in AM’s suit, which claims that after a tire blew out during take-off, “Rather than proceed to takeoff, they decided to abort and/or reject the takeoff in a negligent manner.” After overshooting the runway, the jet burst into flames this past September, with the duo amazingly escaping the crash by sliding down the plane’s wing.

In a pretty cold move, AM also sued the estates of the two pilots who died in the accident, which also killed AM and Barker’s security guard and assistant. (The DJ is collecting funds for both the Chris Baker and Charles Still Memorial Funds on his MySpace page.) AM is suing for pain and suffering, lost earnings, property damage, past and future medical and health-related expenses, and punitive damages. Both Barker and AM have since left the hospital, and AM recently served as Jay-Z’s DJ at a recent Los Angeles show. Barker and DJ AM will co-host a New Year’s Eve bash at the Lot in Los Angeles.

He should be blacklisted from work. Lawsuits like this are bankrupting this country. Imagine how horrible the family that poor pilot feels when she hears these fucktards are suing their daughter’s memory. They walked away from this horribleaccident somehow There is no God.

rockout | 1/3/2009, 2:05 pm EST

wow. and to think I actually felt sorry for these poor bastards after the accident.
No, they don’t name the estates of the families in the suits, but have made sure to ruin their name by saying they weren’t good pilots.
What pieces of SHIT AM and Barker are- I rescind any prayers I made for you and hope the rest of your life is crap.
So much for learning anything from your near-death experiences, fuckwads!

aaron sm | 12/30/2008, 12:31 pm EST

May he realize that he was lucky to live and that his luck is limited. He will have another huge accident in 18 months… karma is telling me that is what this guy will experience… too bad he hasw asshole lawyers and guys like jizz the rapper advising him on what to do. Companies are insured to prevent assholes from suing but his greediness is designed to get the most out of a company that has probably struggled enough… may your music and reputation burn and may your name be buried in a pile of hasbeens and assclowns.

oorstevie | 12/29/2008, 9:22 pm EST

this guy better be careful who he sues. he may end up getting more than his arms and face burned…he may now also get his ass burned…by the defence lawyers. get it? get it? his ass burned…its irony man, irony. i am flaming out here…arent I?

DJ-AM-SUX-BALLS | 12/28/2008, 5:35 am EST

And should have died with those pilots. Maybe I should go get in an accident while listening to some of AM’s wack ass noise and sue him for causing me psychological damage because I get a head-ache evening hearing this Piece of shit’s pathetic excuse for music

The Phenom | 12/27/2008, 10:23 pm EST

DJ AM = Douchebucket. The pilots who died left behind family who used there paychecks to live off of. All they have to live off of now is the estate left behind. And this idiot wants to take that away from them? Suing for “pain and suffering, lost earnings, property damage, past and future medical and health-related expenses, and punitive damages”? C’mon. No class at all. The pilots blew a tire and tried to stop the plane from taking off. This retard thought the better option would be to take off and then what? Land on a giant pillow. DJ AM charges up to 25,000 dollars a night to play music for a few hours. More than most households make in a year!
And one of Barker’s biggest gripes was that he couldn’t go swimming because of the burn. I can’t go swimming because I don’t own a pool, who can I sue?

Ritchie Valens | 12/27/2008, 4:01 pm EST

I am suing DJ AM for not dying in the crash while he had the chance.

Tipper Gore | 12/27/2008, 1:49 pm EST

certainly not a classy move.
he’s alive, they’re dead.
I’m sure counsel advised him to include everybody possible.
just to make sure who’s culpable.
he’s not going to get rich spinning records, aye.

Hey Tipper | 12/26/2008, 7:29 pm EST

“Clay Lacy Aviation, Global Exec Aviation, Inter Travel & Services, Goodyear and Learjet were all named in AM’s suit”

I think the pilots and their estates could have been left out, maybe. Sure, go after their employers. Whatever that fucker needs to bleed dry. Hey, it’s the American Way. Lawsuits and agression are what make us strong.

Tipper Gore | 12/26/2008, 5:17 pm EST

no, it doesn’t make “since”.
but since the pilots are dead,
the only entity left to sue is the estates.
perfectly legal, it just doesn’t sound too good.
goodyear isn’t going to be so quick to cut a check.

Reality Diner's Club Card | 12/26/2008, 11:29 am EST

Sure, Biran, you tried to make “since”, but what you sound like is a fan of these scumbags trying to justify what their actions are now. Do yuou really think that it is “necessary” to sue the estates of pilots who were attempting to SAVE lives by emergency landing a plane that had a tire blown? The main motivator in your argument is MONEY. DJ Goldstein wants as much money as possible, regardless of ethical standards nor DOING THE RIGHT THING by your fellow man.

brian | 12/26/2008, 2:58 am EST

Come on people, lighten up the comments. It was a horrible day for all involved and this includes all the companies listed in the lawsuit above. No one wanted this to happen. For all the people saying he should of just died if he would go this low to sue the estates of dead pilots should maybe die too. I am just kidding. Forgive me, but why would anyone wish this, that is worse than what you people claim they are doing. Like someone mentioned above, it is all protocol in this case to get your settlement that you are entitled to. I mean if there should be no settlement why should insurance even exist to begin with. If you wreck a car and its not your fault, your insurance company or attorney will fight to get a check for you to replace your car and they collect money from them for your medical expenses. Lastly they will fight to get you compensation for your pain and suffering that you deserve based on your injuries/medical expenses and much more. Now this insurance firm is not just going to give you a amount that all parties believe is fair, they may low ball because they feel than can and there will be dickering back in forth. Greed is everywhere, as on both sides of the isle. Not everytime but the majority of time people don’t trust the other party. But now lets say it was the other drivers fault in the car wreck and it happens to be my best friend and I lost a leg too in the accident but however my friend died. As sad as it is that my friend has died, I am entitled to future medical expenses, time going to doctor etc etc etc, pain & suffering which includes losing that best friend to. But in order to get money to cover all my pain & suffering money I will have to sue my friend and his insurance company and maybe the manufacturer of the tire too to get my money. So when DJ AM is suing these dead pilots estates it may be protocol to establish fault in all parties to make the case stronger. Or maybe these pilots have insurance to fly these planes like we do to drive cars and you have to sue their estates to get money from their insurance companies. I mean I am no lawyer and maybe I am wrong but I mean I’m trying to use a little commmon sense to make sense of the whole matter before making ridiculous comments about the motives of DJ AM. If the pilots are found guilty that really places blame on the airline charter company saying it was their fault and they have more money than the family therefore the pay the most. But also if they can pin Goodyear its even better. But in the meantime the airline charter company is saying it was the tire so therefore it was not the pilots or their company’s responsiblity to pay any expenses that it should be Goodyears. Its all about getting settlement it is not about destroying their families estates. I hope I made some since.

come to texas ill wreck you | 12/25/2008, 3:49 pm EST

this guy should have fucking died on this plane for all i care. How much of a fucking douche do you have to be to have a good amount of money then resort to suing the estates of the dead pilots

C'mon AM | 12/25/2008, 1:26 pm EST

Really? Suing their estates?

That is absolutely classless.

Move on- you have your life.

Mandela | 12/25/2008, 12:27 pm EST

SOunds like a legal step. It makes no sense to sue over a person’s negligence and then sue someone without suing that person. no matter how tasteless it sounds.

mcgregor | 12/24/2008, 7:11 pm EST

These guys steal people’s music (did anyone catch their “re-make” of Oasis’ Wonderwall at the VMAs?) and now he wants to sue (steal) from the unfortunate families of deceased pilots. WOW. Let’s boycott their music, oh wait they don’t make original music.

APOV | 12/24/2008, 6:46 pm EST

While I find it in bad taste that DJ AM is suing the pilot’s families; I feel he has every right to sue anyone else involved in this inccident. People assume that because Travis and Am are rich they are douchebags for suing, but can you honestly say you wouldn’t do the same thing? Most of the comments above just make me feel like America is filled with a bunch of haters with double standards……

Anonymous | 12/24/2008, 5:18 pm EST

Not very nice this Goldstein…..

Anonymous | 12/24/2008, 5:17 pm EST

What a sleaze — the two pilots DIED — isn’t that accepting enough blame? It was an accident and he should be glad to be alive, not suing everyone in sight. Next to be named is the company that manufactured the little cocktail napkins that go under the drinks and the makers of the fold down tray tables.

djrosary | 12/24/2008, 5:15 pm EST

even if he just wants money i am sure he is pissed and you were not there to go fuck yourself let them settle it first you think they shouldn’t be pissed come on man

Judgment Night | 12/24/2008, 4:47 pm EST

WOW!

Mr. Michi... | 12/24/2008, 4:16 pm EST

Sure… take off with a blown tire… not like you have to land later or anything.

DISGUSTING.

Bob | 12/24/2008, 4:08 pm EST

As stated, it really is a shame that he wasn’t the fifth casualty. What a fucking ass.

Sandy | 12/24/2008, 3:54 pm EST

As a pilot I can tell this moron for a fact those pilots did EVERYTHING they could to avoid that crash. What an jerk this guy is!!!

Fredi | 12/24/2008, 3:40 pm EST

This is why everyone hates American’s… greedy a-holes

And how are they suing for medical expenses?? Don’t celebrities have high profile medical insurance policies… what a joke.. go earn your money..

everyone wants a free handout

KJMizz | 12/24/2008, 3:29 pm EST

I cannot believe that they would even think about filing suit against the dead pilot’s families. I mean - do you think the pilot’s families are living in LA in 8 million dollar houses doing nothing but shopping, partying, and drinking. That is what DJ AM and Travis Barker do. They said after the crash that an angel must have been there watching over them and now they are going to pull this non sense! What greedy assholes! Why don’t they wrap up the lawsuit papers and put it under the Christmas tree, so the dead pilots wife can open it on Christmas morning.
I hope the jury of his case reads all of this.
Travis Barker and DJ AM are the lowest of the low.

tim | 12/24/2008, 3:23 pm EST

like the pilots really wanted to die, goodyear wanted their tire to blow out, and everybody new it was going to happen. if he actually wins this case he should be shot.

appalled | 12/24/2008, 3:12 pm EST

DJ Am: you suck at life. Obviously your heart burned in the crash, just not your body…

Lina | 12/24/2008, 2:45 pm EST

Unbelieveable! I can’t fathom what the hell they’re thinking. Their lives were spared and they sue the people who died? Do they think the pilots wanted to die anymore than they did?? BASTARDS!!

News Bulletin | 12/24/2008, 12:54 pm EST

Travis Barker has collaborated with DJ AM on a new song called “Picking Corpses Clean” just in time for Hanukkah

Frotudo | 12/24/2008, 11:45 am EST

Understandable would be: suing the jet owners, makers, the whole maintenance etc. Suing the pilot’s estates is a slime act. Instead of realizing how lucky we are to be alive this monkey DJ AM - AssMouth is rejecting the good fortune and instigating more misery.

DO NOT FORGET - WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND

Fred Red | 12/24/2008, 11:31 am EST

Unbelievable. This guy and Barker are pure-d doucebags. So then we can assume that all profits from the lawsuit will go to their dead friends? I dont think so. Rot in hell.

DJ AM Fan | 12/24/2008, 10:43 am EST

I am boycotting as suggested by “Pathetic” and I hope others do the same.

Pathetic | 12/24/2008, 10:41 am EST

Don’t you think the family of the deceased pilot suffered enough already? If this lawsuit against the pilot are not dropped, I URGE PEOPLE TO BOYCOTT YOUR EVENTS AND MUSIC UNTIL THIS CASE IS DROPPED!!!

bravo! | 12/24/2008, 10:37 am EST

well.. justice system is built for the rich.

Very Irritated | 12/24/2008, 10:27 am EST

This is flat our ridiculous. I think I should sue every radio station that had ever palyed the kind of garbage they produce for pain and suffering.

These guys need ot get over their obviously over inflated egos and come down to earth with the rest of us.

On another note, this whole litigation is funny because these no judge in the world would award them a dime. I hope they both can never work again and they have to live off the money they already made.

Joo | 12/24/2008, 10:26 am EST

too bad he didn’t die a horrible burning death.

billybob | 12/24/2008, 10:23 am EST

DJ AM is the poster boy for all of the ignorant people who are wrecking America with their frivolous lawsuits. This guy should be thankful that he has transcended his rightful place at the McDonald’s fryer.

Zerodown | 12/24/2008, 10:11 am EST

Litigations are rampant here in the states. It’s ridiculous. Going after the estates of the pilots? The pilots are dead, they’re families had no bearing on this, but he phuk it, leave them in the poor house after losing a loved one. Siht, it’s the American way, with overly important celebraties feeling they are the only ones entitled to feelings of loss.

dave | 12/24/2008, 10:09 am EST

Instead of being thankful he survived and back to making millions, this heartless slime decides any money he can from the families of the dead. Very typical. Mery Chrismas and Happy Hanukka you scum bag.

Joe | 12/24/2008, 10:08 am EST

What greedy scum bags these ppl are.
