- Gene Autry, the Four Tops, the Blind Boys of Alabama and Dean Martin will receive the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Awards. Tom Paxton, Brenda Lee and Hank Jones will also receive the honor at a special ceremony to be held on February 7th, the night before the Grammys.
- Patti Smith, Vampire Weekend and the National are among the artists headlining this year’s Tibet House benefit February 3rd at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Composer Philip Glass will serve as Artistic Director for the event, which will also features Patti’s daughter Jesse Smith.
- Tim McGraw continues to collaborate with hip-hop stars, working this time with T-Pain. McGraw also reportedly worked with Chris Brown on the single “Human” for Brown’s next album. As for the T-Pain collabo, the Auto-Tune champion says, “The hip-hop has been done with Tim and Nelly, so we gotta be more country than hip-hop.”
