Warner Music Group Pulls Videos From YouTube As Talks Break Down

12/22/08, 9:05 am EST

Warner Music Group said they will pull all of their music videos and related content off YouTube this weekend as negotiations between the label and the video site hit a stand still. WMG was one of the first of the majors to align itself with YouTube. “We are working actively to find a resolution with YouTube that would enable the return of our artists’ content to the site,” the label says in a statement. “Until then, we simply cannot accept terms that fail to appropriately and fairly compensate recording artists, songwriters, labels and publishers for the value they provide.”

While WMG has withdrawn their videos from YouTube, the videos are still streaming at YouTube’s biggest challengers, MySpace Music and MTV Music. “Sometimes, if we can’t reach acceptable business terms, we must part ways with successful partners,” YouTube responds in a statement. Despite the reports and threats to pull their catalogue from YouTube, pretty much every WMG video we looked up at YouTube is still streaming. Madonna, Van Halen, T.I., Led Zeppelin… all still there, their “official video channels” still intact.

As a top ranked member of three different Warner Brothers street teams I am left to wonder why even recently they were pushing us to post links to their (WB Records) bands and rewarding us when we did. It’s like “work it, work it, work it” till it works really well, then they say “pay us, pay us, pay us”. I have defended some of their past business moves but this time it’s pure greed.

I am a player of Runescape and have taken part in very well made videos accompanied by tracks which were quite often purchased a copy of. I am very upset regarding the recent “pulling down” of videos that people have worked hard to create only to watch their beautiful work being destroyed. I am dismayed at the unacceptable behavior that has led me to believe that Warner Bros is unreliable and I would advise anyone who is thinking of working with them not to until Warner Bros has shown the competence they claim to possess. They do not have a right to take down works of art that are not their own and I will be writing a letter of complaint to the head of the Warner Bros Music Group organisation.

My favorite Navy S-3B Viking video that was posted by some of the ex-carrier pilots on YouTube was just pulled, evidently because they had used Van Halen’s “When It’s Love” as the background music for their video.

Of course, there was no commercial aspect to this video at all….just truly “priceless” video of the Lockheed S-3B Viking being flown by American Patriots and Van Halen lovers.

Shame on Warner Music Group!!!!!!!!

Captain Jonas | 1/10/2009, 12:54 am EST

This is an unforgivable crime. We need protesters in the streets calling for the resignation of those responsible! We must all boycott the company. WMG must be made to pay a high price for it’s crimes!

Miki Berenyi | 1/12/2009, 7:04 am EST

Warners have taken videos of my old band Lush off various YouTube accounts set up by our fans, even though they NO LONGER OWN THE COPYRIGHT! Apparently there is nothing I can do as the fans don’t own the copyright either and Warners can just stomp all over anyone with their big boy boots, regardless of what is even legal!

tc | 1/16/2009, 4:22 pm EST

how can they just take away various videos. Did they even think about how HARD the people on YouTube worked to make the videos OR HOW MANY PEOPLE LOVE the videos??????!!!!!!!!!!! JUST BECAUSE THEY AND YouTube ARE FIGHTING DOESN’T MEAN THEY CAN MAKE OTHERS SUFFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ghostly | 1/17/2009, 4:34 am EST

WMG is garbage lol

Greedy companies will die, end of story!

Revolution!

alexsee75 | 1/23/2009, 6:22 am EST

The most unfair cases are those where high-school students get their videos pulled because of some small snippets of WMG music… and when they complain to Youtube about fair-use, they get told that they have to submit a legal counter-claim(!) Youtube is not standing up to the rights of its content-producers as well as it should, and a lot of people are very angry about that.

Youtube User | 1/24/2009, 2:06 pm EST

STOP DELETING AMV’S FROM YOUTUBE !!

I OWN THE CD’S I NO THAT DOES NOT GIVE CERTAIN RIGHTS.

BUT ITS NOT LIKE I DOWNLOADED THEM.

PLEASE STOP DELETING VIDEOS FROM YOUTUBE !!!!

pissed | 1/26/2009, 4:19 pm EST

Warner Brothers suck. I will stop spending my money on anything they own or have anything to do with. My wife worked hard to make our video,s and if you don’t like the background music then hit the mute button and not delete the whole thing. It is going to cost you.

Franchize | 1/26/2009, 5:35 pm EST

Warner bros. Suck!!!

Oceanus57 | 1/26/2009, 7:31 pm EST

Looks like Warner Music Group will be losing a whole lot of customers, and I’m one of them.

My video gave a pretty obscure song 30,000 airings. How can that be bad for the artist?

Josh | 1/27/2009, 3:06 pm EST

Fuck WMG
I hope their company goes belly up for their disgraceful pulling of their videos from you tube.
I’ll never buy their shit ever again apparently all they care about is how to get richer and screw all their customers more.

Minoko | 1/29/2009, 8:57 am EST

What the heck are they thinking? I can’t even count how many WMG artists I’ve learned of from YouTube and then went out to buy CDs. If anything it’s a huge advertisement for them. Now they are taking down music videos that people put so much time into. Large businesses anymore don’t seem to care about the people or our entertainment, it’s all about money. I’m curious as to how many customers they’ll loose. I know I’m going to be one they will never see again.

.. Angry as fuck.. | 1/29/2009, 1:41 pm EST

This is so un-fucking-fair. WMG are total arseholes. I came home from school at lunch to see 2 of my most popular vids deleted [one had only 10 SECONDS of the song - I mean - you hear 3o seconds on itunes!] and another 2 muted. Of course I have deleted these of my computer because I havent got enough room. These took me at least a day to do each, I made another one again.. and guess what– ITS FUCKING MUTED ..

WMG ARE TOTAL FUCKING ARSEHOLIC TWATTY SHIT-HEADED BASTARDS

screw you wmg | 1/29/2009, 5:35 pm EST

SCREW THE FUCK OUT OF YOU WMG wonderwall *cry* owww its might be the onlysong of theres that watch but it was the black ang white version the only GOOD one out there with the rest being bubblegum shit

We've seen this before | 1/31/2009, 8:13 pm EST

Does this remind anyone of the old Napster days? We all know the WMG could give a shit about the artists they represent and they think that there is some measure of lost revenue resulting from streaming videos. Unfortunately, WMG does not acknowlegde that streaming videos help to promote their artists…Guys, understand this: you are losing the grip you have had on distribution is gone thanks to the internet..do not try to hang on..why not be nimble and change with the times?? You reamed us all for cd’s at $15 to $20 a pop for decades.. you guys have had your day. If you keep this shit up, you will be dead to us, and then you really will be dead. Seriously!

hole | 2/1/2009, 6:07 am EST

this is a genuine outrage. i bought black sabbath albums for years and cds when they came out. i lost everything in a house fire. you tube was my window to the music i lost, and now these profiteering fat cats want even more money from us. i can only speak for myself, but i will never buy any of their products again. one voice saying no more.

KaufmanD | 2/2/2009, 3:22 pm EST

Typical WMG greed. Alot of time was spent making my videos and I gave credit to the artist in the credits. I didn’t know this was happening till they pulled my Metallica video and now YouTube is silencing the audio portion of videos I used small music snippets of various artist. My videos didn’t generate a dime for me nor were they intended – they were made for the fun-of-it. WMG is on my list of companies I’ll ignore.

So stupid | 2/5/2009, 6:42 am EST

No words to describe it. WMG wants a piece of their videos being on youtube, when really the people that post up the videos for everyone to see should be payed.

I will never buy ANYTHING again from WMG, never.

If this doesn’t get figured out, youtube is done. & WMG will get bankrupt.

Dumbass bitches.

Diamond B. | 2/5/2009, 11:59 am EST

Warner will pull a vid with anybody singing “happy birthday to you” on it! Bankrupt Warner Music Group! Warner’s stock is at $2 a share.. it won’t take much to bankrupt them. encourage millions of viewers to set up accounts with Youtube devoted solely to uploading warner videos. Every time they get taken down, upload more warner videos. That will also leave thousands of videos without audio with the message they have been *silenced by WMG*..bad publicity for WMG. warner will lose millions of customers and sales with their overtime trolling on people’s personal videos. Everybody should swamp WMG with complaints! use faxzero dot* com* to send free faxes.

WMG Sucks!! | 2/8/2009, 3:58 am EST

How could they do this? OMG I was going to upload Kid Rock and Pantera on my youtube channel! And they said it was all copyrighted by WMG!!!! Now everytime I put up a song it all belongs to them! Whats the point of putting muic up there if they’re going to take it down! BS I tell ya!!

anon | 2/8/2009, 3:15 pm EST

I found the perfect song to go along with my youtube video and immediately it was taken down. It was only one minute out of the five minute song! Hardly seemed fair…

Shaw Productions Inc. | 2/9/2009, 12:59 am EST

WMG can kiss my A$$. I have so many videos on there now that are silenced. I hope they go BK! Some of my videos only had slight portions of the songs yet my whole videos would be silenced. WMG U SUCK!

Shaw Productions Inc. | 2/9/2009, 1:05 am EST

Just for everyone’s FYI…
There is a difference between copyright and what is called “Fair Use”. So using the songs without monetary gain is fair use. If I copied their songs onto CD’s and sold them for instance then I would be infringing on their copyright but if I am using the song in a video that makes me no money than that is just fair use! YouTube needs to get a grip and fight this or they are going to be hurting too.

Tyler Joyce | 2/10/2009, 5:25 pm EST

I worked very very hard on making a video of me playing my guitar and I had to play background music to what I was playing Otherwise it wouldnt sound right. So I go to put it on, and it says “copyright claim by WMG”. I am so pissed off right now its not even funny. I hope youtube fixes this or im done with both WMG and YouTube.

I’ve lost at least five videos now since WMG decided to take down their music, and even watched some of the boycott and complaint videos. I really hope they get it fixed soon, I’ve been trying to get a valentines song up, but so far they’ve all been claimed by Warner, even ones that were on a Movie that Warner made but don’t really own the Artist. This really suxz

TheMrKindaFrustrated | 2/14/2009, 1:36 am EST

if I post a video on youtube with a song not copyrighted by WMG, will it be pulled?
I recently posted a school project video on youtube that featured portions of, and properly credited, “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey, “How Deep Is Your Love,” by The Bee Gees, and the 1812 Overture composed by Tchaikovsky and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, only to have the audio be pulled. A friend of mine used one of the songs in their project and was able to post it on youtube with the audio still in tact. I’d like to know why.

Yup yup | 2/15/2009, 5:23 pm EST

So lame, it’s only hurting business for both partys, I hope they figure it out and work something out.

ok basically as long we dont buy wmg`s stuff, wmg will crash and brun.

or if we have to,lets just completely not go on youtube at all.we should just go on strike and pledge never to go on youtube until wmg has given word they give up their greddiness.until then, lets keep youtube off our favorite websites for now.

wmg`s bane | 2/22/2009, 1:34 am EST

now wmg is very greedy now,but they do not only take down entertaining videos, they also take down educational,non-profit videos.
this is not followed by the digital millenium act.

Swanny | 2/23/2009, 11:06 pm EST

These are non profit videos. Why not simply require acknoledgement of the artist? Some amazing videos have been taken off, many of which advertised the song as effectively as possible. This makes no sense.

*slaps wmg around* bully child no desert for you brat!

Baz | 2/25/2009, 6:20 pm EST

Yeah this sucks! WMG should realise that when people add songs to say fraps of games, they’re making people like wmg’s music! And those people will be like ‘what’s the song’ and will then go to itunes to download it making WMG money! On a funny side note if Jive Records follows WMG then the Numa Numa guy is going to be removed from Youtube! Outrageous! lol

You suck WMG – I’ll never buy any music or anything else that you are affiliated with. I hope you go broke!

Lucarren | 3/10/2009, 2:12 am EST

I just posted a vid on youtube with Dragonforce’s Through Fire and Flames as background music and it was muted before it was even processed…

I gave full acknowledgement to Dragonforce in the credits which I think should be enough as it makes a statement that it is not my own work…

If WMG really wants to stand by what they said in pulling all of their songs from youtube then they have to literally pull every vid including guitar hero/ rockband vids with their songs otherwise they have no right to pull the others…

up set | 3/10/2009, 2:44 am EST

Karma | 3/10/2009, 4:31 am EST

I don’t see why everyone is so upset. WMG is being childish and only hurting themselves. People will never hear or buy songs they would have if they were on youtube. I know that’s how I determined what to buy. Don’t worry, they’ll fall fast.
Oh and I don’t know if that was a true comment from WMG below, but if it was, it just proves my point even more. I’m just going to wait out for Karma ^-^. Shouldn’t take too long, they’re digging themselves a deep deep hole.

P-OFF | 3/10/2009, 6:06 pm EST

Just thought I’d let yall know. I claimed fair use on my youtube vid and won. It is now live with Through the Fire and Flames still as the background music. If I can win yall might to, and if WMG keeps losing fair use disputes they might give up.

Betty Barnes | 3/14/2009, 8:24 pm EST

I had a video of my dad in the 60’s and because there was a song in in, they took it off. I don’t have a copy and it meant the world to me. My dad died last year and this was what was played at his funeral. It was uploaded and a friend lost the dvd. I am so sad about this…

a person who hates wmg | 3/16/2009, 8:42 pm EST

I spent FOREVER making a video that shows my appreciating of one of my favorite songs. And it was DELETED! I got it back but I was forced to use another song from Youtube’s “audio swap” collection and now my video sucks because the music doesn’t even go a long with what’s happening in the video. GRRRRRRRRR!!! Can you believe it, in 2006, WMG and Youtube made an agreement that allowed users to LEGALLY use WMG songs. We all t thought we were safe, using all our favorite songs in our videos. And now, guess what? WMG has decided to turn its freaking back on Youtube and all us users just because it is freaking greedy and it wants money, money, and more money. WMG is paranoid! It fears that a couple of Youtube videos will send it bankrupt!

... | 3/17/2009, 10:30 pm EST

if people tributes on youtube for people who died go because they have your music (WMG) you shall do the following
get all of you record that are to do with you (WMG) right clean em all up till you can see you face turn it side way and shove it up your candy ass

Caverage7 | 3/22/2009, 12:01 am EST

This is terrible. I made a amazing video with Van Halen’s jump and it was ppulled. What did I violate? My love for Van Halen? Put it back on! or atleast pull the others ones. I still have two more an my friend has one, why don’t you pull those? huh? put it back on, youtube is for expressing your creativity not limit it.

what? | 3/24/2009, 9:29 pm EST

this makes no sense at all youtube is advertising your music not viloating it. What do you think we will take our computers on the bus and listen to it as if were a mp3 player? NO we are going to BUY your music then download youtube has a copyright thing so you will get in trouble if you download without permission there. This leads to absolutly nothing but the fact that yotube and wmg will go broke.

Dex | 3/28/2009, 3:40 pm EST

I think everyone is missing thye fact that it takes two (in this case three) to tango.

WMG has every right to claim its copyright, that’s the law. Although the copyright is meant to stop copying that hurts them commercially. Given a choice of downloading a six year old singing “Rainbow Connection” or obtaining the song at a level of quality that makes it burnable to CD are extremes. I think its fair to say that since you can’t playlist youtube, and downloaind is near on impossible and the quality is not great, that WMG taking step to stop it is overboard.

Second if YouTube want to make money by offering a service that demands content and then don’t stand up for the people they get the revenue from, then they shouldn’t push the service. Who on earth is going to put their good original stuff on youtube if its saleable? Pretty much nobody, so a whole bunch of videos with other peoples music, screen captures and images was a train anyone could see coming a mile off. Napster got in trouble for allowing people peer to peer to download MP3’s. YouTube, hot on the heels of that builds a service that allows you to share music AND video without limiting the input, but happily reacting to any outcry. That’s like a vegetarian screaming at you that by eating a Big Mac you’re murdering cows and having Ronald McDonald agreeing with the vego saying “Yeah, you meat eating bastard, stop it”.

The last party is us. Since when did we earn the right to claim stuff as our own just because we used it some way? Those assholes that graffiti everywhere take other peoples property, scribble all over it and claim it’s art and get pissed when it’s painted back out. And rappers who sample other peoples tracks and pass it off like new work.

WMG, chill the fuck out, a video some twit made with one of your songs in it is NOT going to become source #1 for download. Do you think the world wants the boxed set or some badly spelled tribute video for their guinea pig just so they can get the soundtrack?

And YouTube, you just opened the doors, showed us the whores, and now are saying “you did WHAT with them?” Your site is content driven. Infinite monkeys with infinate typewriters can come up with a work of shakespeare – but add the video and music requirement that any sort of television like service has, what did you think was going to happen? A rift to another dimension where everyone is awesomely fucking talented?

And the bozos that think they have some sense of entitlement, even if the other two parties are wankers – get over it. Just because you’re an ass doesn’t mean you own shit. Think about that carefully.

Until then, like everyone else, I’m saying Fuck Fox, Fuck WMV, Fuck YouTube. And you too, you plagerising bastards.

Premier Comrade | 3/29/2009, 6:38 pm EST

Typical case of lawyers run amok. To bad WMG and all the other big Corporate behemoths don’t realize youtube is free marketing their content. Those intent on ripping low quality video and audio are the last people that are going to go out and buy the original content anyways. What do they think they are stopping????

Dex | 3/31/2009, 4:42 am EST

I think it’s not a trong enough argument to rely on the “We’re advertising them for free” argument. WMG and companies like it have marketing departments to diseminate their advertising and editorial content in a control way that is mindful of the look and feel of their product, a unified image and directed correctly at its demographic. It’s their job to advertise themselves. Barack Obama issued a polite “No thanks” for the likes of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan to have their say on his behalf. I guess it’s kind of like a brothel with poster space for a feed the world campaign. Possibly worthy, but extremely tacky.

It’s also a weak argument to say that you spent hundreds of hours on making the film. They spent thousands of hours producing the music and the video. And their money, not yours. Your pet hamster looks cute in a Santa hat to the tune of Winter Wonderland. So what. I stargaze every day but I don’t have rights to the Hubble Telescope as a result.

It’s also poor form to criticise them for the amount of money they make and use that as a reason to invoke some sort of creative commons because they can afford it.

WMG have every technical, legal and moral right to protect their stuff so long as they do it technically, legally and morally.

But asking for a video about how your pet cat died and you miss him because it contains a song that WMG owns is stupid for two basic reasons:

1) The quality is shit. A hardcore pirate of music does not have a library full of songs ripped from a “Poor Mr. Pusskins” video off youtube.

2) Anyone desperate enough to download a “Poor Mr. Pusskins” video to get the soundtrack would be just as well to tape it off the radio or spend $2 to buy it from iTunes or download limewire and rip off a copy that was already an MP3 or MP4.

3) For the above reasons it doesn’t hurt them commercially.

So don’t crap on about how hard it was to make your video, or how much money they make, or how you’re providing a service to them to sell their product. Really, that’s a whole bunch of shit right there.

If you’re going to say anything simply say “WMG, you dickheads – think about it!”.

Mr. Pusskins.
RIP. But without the WMG music.

I understand, when songs are sensored when they are uploaded for the purpose of iligal download, but, if you use it for a video production, and this video production is good, the producer should be happy the song is used.

It will promote it, and even more people might buy it.
There are people that ask me what the name of the song is, I used for my clip… and…they buy it.

I posted a video of my son graduating basic combat training, america the beautiful by ray charles was playing in the background – behind the speaker – and they muted the sound… WTF!

Deacon2112 | 5/2/2009, 6:42 pm EST

Maybe WMG should pull it’s head out of it’s fat corporate ass and realize that sending out their lame ass lawyers only makes them look like f*cked up greedy axxholes. Sadly, that isn’t all that far from the truth…

Brian Gari | 5/10/2009, 10:09 am EST

F—king WMG took my tribute to my deceased father and made YouTube mute the song. The song, MY DAD, isn’t even theirs!!!

Amy | 5/23/2009, 3:00 pm EST

I understand making AMVs (and other kinds of music videos) is technically illegal. I understood when I was in sixth grade that even a disclaimer doesn’t mean fuck. And I think the claim that you’re advertising the band is shit too (unless, of course, its a band NOBODY’S heard of. But you still don’t technically have rights to use it). The video clips are another thing. You don’t own the song, you don’t own the video. Youtube has a right to delete it. I knew that before I started making AMVs. So I’m not going to claim what I’m doing is legal

But that doesn’t change the fact; it’s bullshit. I’m not hurting anyone by putting clips from Marmalade Boy to a Nickelback song. It doesn’t affect the anime company, and Nickelback isn’t in any trouble over an AMV with only 400 views. I see videos all the time that are pure copyright. And it really frustrates me because I /know/ that I don’t have a good defense for myself or other AMV makers. To make it even more frustrating, my computer got a virus and I had to reinstall windows. I lost all of my AMVs and when youtube deleted them they were gone for good.

There are other kinds of videos youtube should be focusing on. Like purely copyrighted videos. Nothing went into them, the person just downloaded the music video and uploaded it to youtube. Youtube should be busy getting rid of those videos instead of the ones people put real work into. I don’t see youtube deleting videos people make of them playing Evanescence on piano (they might be, but not that I know of). That’s just as copyrighted as my video. I’ve been playing piano for 8+ years, all percussion for three years and I played violin for five years. I also plan on teaching myself guitar soon…So I know what I’m saying when I tell you unless you’re writing your own music, a lot more thought goes into creating an AMV. (Not to insult the musicians, I think music takes a lot more talent)

I think the law should be rewritten to an extent. It should protect the original artists (the band, the anime studio, whatever) but not to such an extent that a recording of an event that happens to have a song in the background should be muted or deleted. To me this seems like an abuse of power on the companies’ parts. Who uses youtube to listen to all of their music? Like, ten people in the entire world? If I claim I made the song “Forgiven” that is actually by Within Temptation, delete my video. Until then, leave me the fuck alone or go after me for getting most of my music through torrents instead of making the 20 minute drive to Borders for an Australian rock album they probably don’t have. But keep my videos out of it.

anonymous | 5/26/2009, 4:50 pm EST

AMVs and music videos aren’t illegal! They’re just greedy pigs! WMG is lame.

anonymous | 5/26/2009, 4:53 pm EST

And another thing, I will say what I’m doing is legal because it doesn’t hurt a damn thing. It IS advertizing, and I can do whatever the hell I want as long as I don’t make any money from it.

anonymous | 5/26/2009, 4:53 pm EST

i had them blank a song used as soundtrack (and credited). i’ve swapped it.

the new track is okay, and all it has done is made the credit to their deleted song become a tribute to their greed.

stuff ‘em

WMG should go to hell. | 5/31/2009, 9:01 am EST

WMG should go fuck off. Ever noticed that the artists that signed to WMG never complained about us YouTubers using their music in our videos? They should stop messing with our freedom with their “Copyright” crap. They say we don’t have rights to mess with their artists’ work, but they mess with our work? They are saying: “I won’t let you play with my toys, But I wanna play with your toys, so hand them over or I’m gonna tell my dad, he’s the principal!” If you are reading this, WMG, I tell you that even if some people still might buy your crappy shit, I, and many YouTubers will NEVER, and I mean NEVER, glance once more at your crap CD’s and records.

WMG GO TO HELL | 6/1/2009, 11:23 am EST

vah | 6/12/2009, 1:07 pm EST

I will make it a point whenever possible never to buy a WMG product again.

Boycott WMG | 6/12/2009, 1:40 pm EST

Why would anyone buy WMG music in the future if they dont have the same right to use that content as they have with other music. Other music companies have figured out how to use the youtube clips to promote and advertise themselves, but WMG would rather destroy ppl’s creative work even tributes to dead family members. To hell with them. This would also be a good time to start using alternative sites to youtube for video sharing. Youtube and google have become too large and are becoming corrupt and greedy beyond imagination. Google is like the banks anymore. Screwing someone over for profit whenever possible. They do this with bloggers and adsence and other things as well.

Emaine Nick | 6/13/2009, 11:19 pm EST

Warner Music Group is freaking heartless. They even pulled out a video containing a tribute to those people who are dead. WMG is really heartless and I really can’t wait for some people to go on strike and kill the big boss of WMG. I think a lot of people would be happy if WMG goes bankrupt, and suffer. :D
DIE WMG, DIE. Greedy buffoons! WE ALL HATE YOU WMG. NEVER EVER AM I, AND EVERYONE ELSE WILL BUY YOUR RIDICULOUS SHITS EVERY AGAIN! FOR PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE US, JUST DOWNLOAD THEIR MUSIC, DONT BUY THEM EVER AGAIN.

duh | 7/3/2009, 9:57 pm EST

I don’t understand why not leave the audio on there. Do they think that if Youtube mutes the audio I am going to run out and buy the CD.

person who hates wmg | 7/4/2009, 7:56 am EST

they remove all the good songs on youtube for know good reason they suck!!!!!!

An other victim | 7/13/2009, 6:13 am EST

I did not know about that until i uploaded an Amv I worked on it for days and I was very happy with the result but those assholes hit me on the face when i found that the NIN track was removed.
This is the first time i’m proud of never buying any wmg s**t.
now, is there any solution? I mean someway to upload a vid with a wmg track??

Pissed Off Youtube User | 7/13/2009, 11:26 pm EST

ok what the fuck. wmg is comletely losing its mind. its pulling out videos that are tributes to dead love ones, fucking awsome amvs and such. i mean wmg is totally being unfair. the youtube audio swap is soooo stupid. my video has no fucking sound cause wmg are being comlete dick heads. go fuck your self wmg and i hoe your hapy with how many peole you have hurt.

A Human Being | 7/14/2009, 12:23 am EST

WMG – The Official Sound Police. they’re on a warpath to stop people from hearing sound? Sounds pretty fucking twisted to me. Warner Brothers, you can suck all of our dicks.

Whatever you are all smoking at WMG Studios, you should stop.

Spokes | 7/14/2009, 4:34 pm EST

Hit WMG where they live: boycott them. Don’t spend a penny on any WMG product. Kick any WMG employee you see in the balls. Oops, I forgot, they don’t have any.

Desert Eagle | 7/17/2009, 4:24 pm EST

wmg should go fuck themselves with a ten foot pole

WGM Bastards | 7/18/2009, 1:39 pm EST

i cant tellyou hom many videos that ive looked up, only for the sound to be gone. there was even a Let’s Play of a game that only had a song in it for about 2 min. and the video was 10 minutes long.
now the videos worthless because the commentary is muted.
i hope everyone downloads music instead of buying it so they go out of business and are gone forever

sasha | 7/27/2009, 12:43 am EST

GO TO HELL WMG!!

marketingguy | 8/7/2009, 7:27 pm EST

This will go down as one of the biggest marketing boners of all time. Someone makes a video of their dead cat, dead family member, special moment, singing their favorite song – take your pick – and it gets deleted? With a big banner proclaiming why across the front!

Is anyone from WMG reading this chain of comments? If so, give your head a shake… you are making such a huge miscalulation. Stupid!

Bill | 8/13/2009, 12:27 am EST

WMG Had better start checking out the funeral homes because they are putting together slideshows of the deceased using third party music.

Copyright Slave | 8/26/2009, 10:40 am EST

What alot of you people do not understand is that WMG is fully allowed to delete or mute any videos which have music in it which they own the copyright to.

You have no right to moan if you use music which you do not own the copyright to in your videos.

If you wish to use the music then you must contact them and ask permission first.
You might have to pay a fee but then again, that is just how the world work and how big companies work.

WMG needs to make a profit like all companies and uploading videos of music which they own is allowing anyone to listen to that music for free and that = less profit for WMG.
It is also not allowed anyway because WMG owns the copyright to it.

Copyright is a very important matter and so of course youtube and WMG will stop anyone who does not obey it.
if you did not obey the copyright laws then please read the Youtube Copyright rules.

Thank you.

Zack | 8/28/2009, 2:37 pm EST

Many of the videos I’ve seen muted have content that’s copyrighted that should be allowed to stay online uncensored because of fair use. But WMG just mutes them anyway.

Alex | 9/2/2009, 6:52 pm EST

I’m only buying used C.D.’s of all WMG artists from now on. This was one stupid move and it still continues. The sound quality on You Tube is awful numbnuts. Nobody who is a die hard music fan was using those videos as their first choice for listening. Some of us were introduced to music of yours we went out and bought but, now those numbers are dwindling due to your lack of understanding as to the purpose of most You Tube videos.

william | 9/9/2009, 10:54 am EST

here you go i just on youtube looking around at music and wb just muted a song that is not theirs it belongs to sony.i hope that they have good lawyers this time.you wb are about to get fu by sony

Alex | 10/7/2009, 7:23 pm EST

These comments about “well, WMG has the right to, it’s their product” etc… totally wrong. I suppose they have the technical right to, that doesn’t mean they SHOULD.

Youtuber | 10/18/2009, 9:35 pm EST

I worked all weekend on a video for someone only to have it pulled before it was even processed.. this makes over 10+ videos taken down due to WMG claims.. I am also among those boycotting WMG and Youtube.. if I can post the video elsewhere but not on youtube, then we have a problem.. am off to find a suitable, FAIR video hosting site…

raptor2007xxx | 10/20/2009, 10:09 pm EST

So It’s not youtube I need to be angry at. Do they realize how long I have been working on Saints Row the Abridged series. But why can’t youtube just mute the parts with WMG content. Oh and those who want their videos posted, send them to bddixonraptor2007@gmail.com along with your studio info or however you want to be referenced and things like that. The website that they will be posted on is raptorstudiospresents.blogspot .com

However I may have to cut it into segments if it is more than 8:00 minutes long.

DOWN WITH WMG!!!!!!!

na | 11/10/2009, 4:14 am EST

All WMG employees should get a bullet in their cranium.
