My mother has A1AD, unfortunately if this is true, he will not make it through A1AD. As they said, it’s a genetic, and terminal disease. The lung transplant will simply prolong his life, but the illness will begin hitting his “new” lungs the same as his original lungs. I do pray for him, I wish this terminal disease on no-one. My brother has A1AD. He is on the waiting list for a double lung transplant. I also have two other siblings that also have the disease, but have not developed the symptoms, because this is a genetic disease, all of his siblings should be tested as well as their spouses. The disease is passed down from each parent who have the gene. I hope this is not what he has, but all should get tested.
