The 1995 PinkPop festival in Germany had an eclectic bill that somehow featured both Danzig and Sinead O’Connor. This German interviewer makes the unfortunate mistake of accusing Glenn Danzig of being a fan of the bald-headed singer, ultimately sounding the death knell in the interview before it even began. What follows are two-and-a-half minutes of awkwardness, highlighted by Danzig telling the VJ, “You want to hear yourself talk? I’ll leave.” We like to imagine that when the interviewer starts randomly talking in German, he’s saying things like, “I liked this dude more when he was in the Misfits,” but in reality he’s probably just translating things to the TV audience.

The PinkPop Festival is in the Netherlands, always has been. The interviewer is talking in Dutch. The area where the festival is happening only has been German for a few years in the mid-20th century…

yeah right, that’s the problem with some americans: they don’t do their homework. advice to news editor: first get a map of europe, then write about european festivals. and what is so awkward about danzig’s remarks? it’s simply boring.
