U2 have announced their new album No Line on the Horizon will be released on March 3rd, on Interscope Records. The track listing has not yet been revealed but reportedly three of those 50 to 60 songs the band recorded for Horizon include the title track, “Moment of Surrender” and “Unknown Caller.” A source told Billboard that the songs are “amazing and a little out there. I hope they don’t change anything.” As reported earlier, the album was produced by the Joshua Tree dream team of Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, and Steve Lillywhite. The album is the band’s first since 2004’s How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Bono and gang plan to tour in 2009, their first jaunt under the Live Nation banner, so Live Nation will get back a large portion of that $19 million they owe U2.

Less than three months away. Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Oasis, Keane, and the Fray all have their notebooks out and ready.

How to dismantle an “atomic” bomb

Padre | 12/18/2008, 5:16 pm EST

U2..they are the “bomb”!!!

h_H | 12/18/2008, 10:30 pm EST

glad it’s Eno and not Rubin. Eno’s their best producer. The two songs they did with Rubin were rather ‘meh.’

Yeah! U2 Rocks!

Mea Bonamusica | 12/19/2008, 3:09 am EST

Now we can see a line on the horizon! What an early Christmas present! I remember that “POP” was released on the same date in 1997. I hope we´ll be able to endure this long time until March 3rd!

anto | 12/19/2008, 5:49 am EST

Wont hold me breath, last U2 cd wuz crap, and anyways wont ever support U2 again after Bono and his friendship with Jessie Helms,

Mea Bonamusica | 12/19/2008, 9:13 am EST

These are pretty good news for 2009 and right now there´s already great music from (RED)WIRE!

Rory | 12/19/2008, 12:03 pm EST

What was it with these guys and long-ass album titles?

lio | 12/19/2008, 12:19 pm EST

yah! two days after me birthday, at least I know what I’m getting.

U2 is overrated as a handjob | 12/19/2008, 1:31 pm EST

U2 became irrelevant after Joshua Tree….does anyone remember the song Lemon? That song alone discredits any workt that these d-bags have made. This band is quite possibly the most overrated band of all time, next to Bob Dylan that is….you heard me!

U2 mucho good | 12/19/2008, 2:05 pm EST

Previous poster is an ass. “Lemon” is a song addressed to bono’s dead mother, about the color of the dress she was wearing. “Zooropa” was a great album.

Overrated? | 12/19/2008, 2:15 pm EST

A handjob is like pizza. Even when its bad its good. Just like U2. I’d rather listen to these guys swing and miss than Nickelback churn out drone after drone.

gerrianne | 12/19/2008, 8:00 pm EST

bono is just sooooo hot!!!!!!

Still gooing strong | 12/19/2008, 9:19 pm EST

U2 are still going strong after almost 30 years – with their orginal line up intact, yet thier music still endures (so despite the knockers that speaks volumes). Yes they’ve expreimented and done some weird stuff – can’t say I liked it all, but at least they haven’t gone stale… good on em. ‘All that You Can’t Leave Behind’ was good, Atomic bomb OK, so here’s hoping this one will be another great one.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone…

Actually, “Achtung Baby” was the last truly great U2 album. Still, the stuff since has been very good.

Can’t wait for the next tour. Cracking U2 though the speakers is one thing. But the live experience is fantastic. Any of you fans who haven’t seen them live…line up at a Ticketmaster booth 3 hours before they go on sale. Amazing live show!

Fozzie Bear | 12/20/2008, 11:40 am EST

U2 is about to show everyone how its done. Again. All the haters know it and cant stand it.

Analyze THIS! | 12/20/2008, 11:45 am EST

After No Line on the Horizon, I think that U2 will release an EP of Rick Rubin-helmed tunes. Maybe in the middle of their tour, like they did with ZOOROPA in the middle of ZOO TV. This band continues to push the barrier and raise the bar for everyone else. Its hard to imagine the face of rock and roll music over the last 30 years without this band.

madmabs | 12/20/2008, 1:05 pm EST

U2 more like U-suck

greatest band in the world!!!

replikhant | 12/21/2008, 1:54 pm EST

When a band becomes this big, it is easy to hate without a reason. The haters forget that there was a time when this band was just another band of teens trying to take over the world. The fact that they succeeded and that they are still relevant can make some people very jealous.

Los Zooropas | 12/21/2008, 10:48 pm EST

The best live band in the world. Truly unique in their place in rock and roll history, no one has done it as consistently both in the studio and on the road with the same lineup for such a long period of time. They never keep their fans waiting too long, as approximately every 3-5 years they crank it up with a new album and tour. They are constantly evolving their sound and tour setup. A great frontman, a great guitar player, and a great rhythm section. Quite simply a great band.

U2Fan14 | 1/6/2009, 6:26 pm EST

Yay, yay, yay!!!!!!!!
I can’t bloody well wait for this new album. Even if its not their best I will still love it. Hope they come to NZ on their new tour otherwise I’m frickin’ travelling to US just to see them. 14 year old fan and haven’t seen them in concert before, but have all their albums apart from this one obviously. Yay!!!!!! :)

papasan | 1/10/2009, 6:22 am EST

u2 fan | 1/14/2009, 5:29 am EST

oh yeah .. i can’t wait .. march .. they gonna burn all others :)

educated musician | 1/14/2009, 2:01 pm EST

U2 kicks every band’s ass every year in just about every category, globally they do more for the world than all if not most governments, they are more inspiring than religions and drugs combined, and they put on the best live show you will ever see. Haters beware, cause this year again will belong to U2 and i will be lovin it.

Siri | 2/2/2009, 8:43 am EST

I just can’t wait….. This going to be sooooo AWESOME!!!! Just as u guys up there said U2 will dffinately wipe all the other bands off their feats…. And I really hope they come to India… I really want to see them live…. and I’m just …

veejay | 2/10/2009, 2:27 am EST

yep….i think they must surely tour india this time around……will give anything to watch them live here…

pjp | 2/14/2009, 6:07 pm EST

pleased to see u2 are still releasing new material on vinyl, this is by far the best way to listen to their music, apart from live of course.

Ric Vieira | 2/24/2009, 8:03 pm EST

No Line on the Horizon ??

I’ve had this album for a couple of weeks now…
(don’t bother waiting for the March 3rd release)

…there’s ONLY two songs one can identify as OK/GOOD, the rest is pretty lame, honestly even U2 here is going down the appalling path.

They could have done so much better – lack of material perhaps ? DEFO !
