- Madonna denies the $75 million divorce-settlement figure her publicist confirmed this week. “A misleading and inaccurate statement, specifically in relation to the sums of money involved, was wrongly issued to AP this week. The financial details of the settlement will remain private,” Madonna said in a statement.
- Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records have been sued for copyright infringement after they sampled Karma-Ann Swanepoel’s “Once” for Weezy’s “I Feel Like Dying,” despite failing to negotiate a license to use the sample.
- Carrie Underwood will perform at the People’s Choice Awards on January 7th. Queen Latifah will host the 35th annual ceremony in Los Angeles.
- Eddie Van Halen and Fender are launching a new line of guitars, the EVH Wolfgang, which Van Halen “road-tested” during the band’s recent tour. “I do this because a lot of people ask if they can get what I use. Well, yes you can and what you get is identical to what I use,” Van Halen said.
