- Jennifer Hudson canceled the video shoot for her next single “If It Isn’t Love,” with sources saying “it’s too early” following the murder of Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew. The shoot was scheduled to go down in Los Angeles last week, although a Hudson rep said the filming was “never confirmed.”
- Coldplay were joined by Hot Fuzz actor Simon Pegg at the band’s O2 Arena concert in London this weekend, with the actor playing harmonica on two songs. Chris Martin joked before “Viva La Vida,” “Given that we’ve only got two hit singles and one of them is about to be taken away by some guitarist, give it all you can.”
- Depeche Mode reportedly finished work on their next album, the band’s first since 2005’s Playing the Angel. The album, due out in spring ‘09, will feature about 12 tracks including “Wrong,” “Comeback,” “In Chains” and “Peace Will Come to Me.” The group also hinted at an additional EP from the new material they recorded.
- British rapper Dizzee Rascal was arrested this weekend for “suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon,” with the offensive weapon being a baseball bat. Rascal was released on bail but will have to return to a London police station later this month.
