Pearl Jam Ready Massive “Ten” Reissues

12/10/08, 2:04 pm EST

Pearl Jam will reissue their debut album Ten in a big way next year, remastering it, remixing it and stocking it with demos, live performances and even a cassette tape. Four different editions of Ten will be released on March 24th, 2009, ranging from the double-disc Legendary Edition to the absolutely stacked Super Deluxe Version, which features 2 CDs, a DVD of their 1992 MTV Unplugged performance, 4 LPs and a replica cassette of the band’s famed Momma Son demo tape. Plus, a remix of the album will be overseen by producer Brendan O’Brien, who worked with the band on four albums. The reissue is just the first of many as Pearl Jam gears up for their 20th anniversary in 2011. For more details about the Ten reissue, including what unreleased tracks will appear, head over to the Smoking Section for the full scoop.

If they’re doing this much with “Ten”, you gotta wonder what they’ll do for the other albums.

I am sure Vs. and Vitalogy will get the treatment as well…

Probably not likely, but if No Code gets a deluxe edition I will kiss jack irons on the lips (bugs bunny style)

You want to talk about milking the cow with this one. The bonus tracks are pretty much useless to diehards with the exception of 2,000 miles and the Ten demo of State with Krusen drumming. They’ve heard the rest of the songs on bootlegs for years now. The Drop in the Park show probably would’ve been better as a video. Hell they should’ve released ANY 92′ Show from the European tour like Pinkpop 92′ or the Lollapalooza tour as a video over MTV Unplugged which was overrated and truly inferior performance compared to their Bridge school shows done years later. I like this album but 140 dollars is a bit much for the “Super Deluxe” editions and the O’Brien remix isn’t going to add much to an album that is already mixed perfectly anyway. Tim Palmer’s original mix is flawless despite what anyone (including the band) says. It may be slick/polished and may not “dirty” or “punk rock” as they may like, but is the best mixed Pearl Jam album and beats the rough crap the O’Brien has churned out since 93′. You can hear Eddie’s vocals perfectly and the guitars are channeled perfectly as opposed to their other albums.

Avatar is obviously an arogant fan who thinks he knows it all. Quit hitting the bong and shell out the 140!

I already have the album with the original packaging and I’m happy with it, but I still want those LPs, man. That’s be cool.
