New Issue: Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Singles of 2008

We continue our new issue’s year-end retrospective with Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Singles of 2008. It was a year where lollipops, cherry Chapstick, “Bleeding Love” and ruling the world dominated the airwaves, but in the end it was Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” and her battle cry to “Put a ring on it” that ruled our critics’ poll. How could you not put “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles in this list. It doesn’t say much about your magazine.

I think you guys need to show us the formula that you use to rank these songs. The musicianship obviously has nothing to do with the placing.

Not impressed with either list. I’d put Bon Iver at the top of both.

Here’s a quote from the people at Rolling Stone: ‘“All Summer Long” is by far the worst single of the man’s career, but it’s inexplicably his biggest.’ And they rank it at #18. Great work guys!
