Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman
John Fogerty is planning a sequel of sorts to his 1973 roots-and-country covers album Blue Ridge Rangers. Fogerty, along with producer T-Bone Burnett, will release The Return of the Blue Ridge Rangers at some point in 2009, but as opposed to the original album, Fogerty this time will be surrounded by musicians instead of going it alone. “I’ve known for years that if I ever did a Blue Ridge Rangers album again I sure didn’t want to play all the instruments,” Fogerty told Billboard, “I had long felt that was probably something that was wrong with the first album.” The new album was recorded in a span of ten days in Santa Monica, with Fogerty and Burnett recording 15 songs from a list of 40 they comprised. While the CCR remains quiet about which songs are covered this time around, he revealed that there will be a Merle Haggard tune on Return. Additionally, 2009 will also see the release of Fogerty’s Comin’ Down the Road, a live DVD documenting his first-ever performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall from earlier this year.

very cool

I Just got a copy of the out-of-print John Fogerty Self Titled CD with Rockin’ All Over The World and Almost Saturday Night…good stuff!

I stopped listening to Fogerty the day he stiffed his bandmates in CCR at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Stu and Doug deserved better treatment, but then again, after working with the egomaniac during the late sixties, they must have expected he would once again show them he was the boss. You may have won that showdown, John, but you lost my respect forever.

I agree Ray. Fogerty was a total ass for doing that at the RNR Hall of Fame (and Sprinsteen and Robertson should have be ashamed to have filled during Fogertys performance that night – when Doug and Stu were right there!)

Fogerty is so talented, but such an egomaniac and I would not buy his CD’s again.

Fogerty is the man. One of the greatest (and most underrated) songwriters in history. Ray and John should educate themselves before calling him an egomaniac. his CCR bandmates left him hung out to dry during the entire Fantasy Records debacle in which Fogerty lost control of all the music he created. Stu Cook and Doug Clifford were nothing more than a competent rhythm section for Fogerty. Fogerty wrote, sang, arranged, produced, and played lead guitar on every Creedence record. The ones who should REALLY be ashamed are Cook and Clifford for touring the world and making money off of all John’s songs with their pathetic cover band “Creedence Clearwater Revisited”.

Hear, hear Alex.

If Fogerty had not written the songs CCR would not have been anything but a cover band and Stu and Doug would have still been doing what they are doing now, COVERING SOMEONE ELSES SONGS!
The songs belong to Fogerty! Stu and Doug were just the backup band.
Anyone with musical talent can play backup!
John is the reason for CCR’s rise To Stardom! Not Stu and Doug!
Stu and Doug were paid well for their work. Now John has a new backup band! Let it Go!!!

Been listening and researching John Fogerty for years. No question as to who was CCR.Any negative feedback on John Fogerty can only come from someone who has never been involved in the industry. Doug and Stu should have tried to make amends before it got to th R&R hall of fame. Why get peed off when the day came.It was bound to happen.

i agree with whoever believe what i believeIN –john fogerty is the man and without him it would never have been CREEDENCE he was the front man who wrote sang and did the rest what his bandmates did to him is ashamed—one more thing touring under CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVISITED they couldnt choose a diferent name? FOGERTY decerves all the fame and credits no them so far as i concern.. i would neverrrrrrrrrrr buy their cd’s—good luck FOGERTY

Ray & John, until you walk in
Fogerty’s shoes how can you
know how he feels when the
band members are so egotistical
that they walk out from the
greatest rock band ever.
They had a good thing going and
screwed it up. Why would they
ever want to change with John
making them #1 in the world.
Their loss.
Fogerty rocks the world now
and does it with his own talent.
Stu and Doug are the losers as
John has proven that they are
nothing without his music.

Ray and John don’t know what they are talking about. Stu first of all is a real jerk. He tends to leave a trail of disaster and insults wherever he goes. He is lucky to have had an opportunity to become successful for only one reason: JC Fogerty who probably showed him which notes to play on bass. Stu is the ego maniac. His letters and actions are also disturbing and he does leave people out to twist in the wind.

There’s plenty of lamentable behavior to go around in the story of CCR. I try to ignore the nastiness and just enjoy the amazing music. Usually I am successful.
