Despite reuniting for a tour and multiple festival appearances, Rage Against the Machine have no plans for a new album, says guitarist Tom Morello. “There are no plans for that,” Morello told Billboard. “We’ve had a wonderful year and a half of playing shows, and I don’t see any reason to not play more shows. The thing is there’s only so many hours in the musical day, and mine are very occupied right now.” Rage’s last album of original material was 1999’s The Battle of Los Angeles. Morello is instead focusing his musical output on his own Nightwatchman project. “I’m able to do everything I want as a musician under this tent.” Rage singer Zack de la Rocha released an EP from his duo One Day As a Lion earlier this year.

I agree with True Rage Fan! These guys are the best band ever! And their music is still with us and always will be, as well as their message. by the way: why shouldn’t they make money!? Its every garage/living room bands’ dream isn’t it? These guys never compromised or went “glam”. Their hard work and talent deserves all of our respect and appreciation.

There is still a machine to be raged against. Obama is just as much of a puppet as President Bush. They are put up there to take political heat. The real government is still ran behind the scenes by wall street. Americas situation isnt gonna change just cuz they picked a mixed race to run. Still the same situation peoples. Wake Up America

The report was talking about their last ORIGINAL material album. And he’s right, because renegades is an all covers album

lol | 3/26/2009, 10:23 pm EST

true rage fan | 1/30/2009, 5:35 pm EST

all these people doggin rage need to shut the fuck up, if you were ever true RATM fans than you wouldnt be sayin this bullshit, respect what they do now and be thankful for the music they gave us.

What’s with all the Rage bashing here. They put out some outstanding material over the years.
They did a lot more to resist the trappings of the cliche “Rock Star” than most other bands. I think they deserve credit for that.

One Day As A Lion is incredible. Check it, check it, check it out.

Thanks “RATM!”

Who needs another load of trash from these useless, pointless, we-sing-it-to-make-cash-but-we -don’t-mean-it pu–, er, wusses!

The Fly on the Wall | 12/7/2008, 9:38 pm EST

Gee Tom, thanks for taking our hard earned cash to support you guys while you tour as a traveling jukebox, playing old hits while we wait for new material.

Must be tough. Rage against the new music money grubbing machine huh?

hey | 12/7/2008, 8:57 pm EST

nice job at the la convention, gore would have really messed things up bad.

jackasses.

Big L | 12/7/2008, 8:07 pm EST

brad and tim are probably going to move on to something else now and ratm will soon be broken up again

i don’t see nightwatchman and odaal having much longevity either and this is coming from a huge fan of zack and tom, not necessarily just ratm.

shakespeare | 12/6/2008, 9:37 pm EST

Will Tom & Zack stop being GIRLS making ONE DAY AS A LION or THE NIGHTWATCHMEN, and get the rock back in there system and put out another landmark album as RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!

Why not? | 12/6/2008, 12:00 am EST

Come on fellas. Just one more album, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

archie | 12/5/2008, 11:37 pm EST

we’ll have to live with One Day as a Lion and the Nightwatchman; both fine substitutes, but nothing like the original

Simple Math | 12/5/2008, 8:00 pm EST

Tom Morello=genius
Tom Morello=rocker
Tom Morello=great guitar player

H. Bomb | 12/5/2008, 5:24 pm EST

I saw a Nightwatchman show about a month ago and must say that Tom can still rock with the same level of energy as a Rage show. (and yes, I’ve seen the full band live also)

The spirit of Rage will always live on in Tom’s show. (corny, yes… but go see a show of his and you’ll see EXACTLY what I’m talking about!)

Kevin the Robot | 12/5/2008, 5:14 pm EST

When did we need RATM the most? During the Bush years. And they were a no show. What would they sing about now? Raging against Obama seems pointless.

Geh? | 12/5/2008, 5:12 pm EST

Every single artist plays shows for money, regardless of how “political” they are, from the Clash to Fugazi to Bob Dylan to RATM to a busker on the street with his guitar case open. Of course its about the money. Thats why rock and roll bands are formed in the first place.

thought so | 12/5/2008, 5:04 pm EST

it was about the money

BK | 12/5/2008, 5:01 pm EST

Im glad the RATM reunion is over and that they have no plans to record an album. They said what they needed to say when they said it. Those guys have nothing to be mad at or anything to rage against. RIP RATM!

schultz | 12/5/2008, 4:53 pm EST

Dude,
Rock it with Rage on disc at least one more time!!!

PLEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEE! !!!
