“Twilight” Star Kristen Stewart Cast As Joan Jett For Runaways Flick

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart is set to make the jump from emo vampires to punk rockers after being cast as Joan Jett in the upcoming Runaways biopic. The film, called simply The Runaways, will be written and directed by music video vet Floria Sigismondi (Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful People,” the White Stripes’ “Blue Orchid”). The biopic will focus on the band’s “meteoric rise as teenagers to their dissolution and disillusionment.” Additional casting for the roles of keyboardist Cherie Currie and guitarist Lita Ford has not been announced yet. The Runaways are generally regarded as the first all-girl rock band and stayed together for roughly four years. Jett went on to have an even more successful solo career. Though the casting of Stewart as Jett bothers us a lot less than having Kirsten Dunst play Debbie Harry, is she T-U-F-F enough to fill Jett’s leather boots?

Umm idk about this one! i just dont see her as Joan Jett at all! but i guess i will see what happens in the near future! but i am having doubts! but did kristyn agree to doing all of this in the first place! ummm

Joan Jett is the one who picked Kristen to play her. So obviously she feels Kristen is good enough and I think so far, she looks great as Joan.

They should make a casting in Mexico I know a lot of people love the Runaways and there´s a lot of talent there, I have a lot of friends there who are expecting news from the movie

my question is, will stewart be attempting to sing (can she sing and play???) or will she be lip syncing w. jett? i like stewart and all i just dont see her as Joan Jett! im really curios as to who will be playing ford! and i agree w. larryw, just joan jett’s career and life alone is enough for its own movie. thatd be an awesome movie. but this one sounds cool too. itll be a must watch for me, esp to see how stewart pulls it off.

I hope this is approved by The Runaways. This way we get to hear the original Runaways music. I’ve seen The Runaways in concert. They were amazing. I remember every second of that show! It was at The Palladium in New York City 1978. The opening act was a duo called “SUICIDE”. The second band was “JOAN JETT & THE RUNAWAYS”, and The third band was “THE RAMONES”. Probably the best punk rock show in New York City!

I love Joan Jett. Seriously underrated.
Not thrilled with the actor who’s gonna play her in the film though….
Maybe they’ll reconsider and cast someone else…..
