The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, deemed Best Festival by this very publication, has announced the dates for next year’s fest: June 11-14, 2009 at its home in Manchester, TN. Pre-sale tickets go on sale this Thursday, December 4th. Perhaps adapting to the current economic recession, for the first time Bonnaroo is allowing customers to buy tickets as part of a payment plan comprised of five installments of $50 each. When the first batch of early bird tickets are sold out, the price will rise from $209.50 to $224.50 and upwards until it peaks at the presale price of $249.50, plus all those taxes and fees. The lineup for this year’s festival will be announced early next year. Metallica, Kanye West, Pearl Jam and My Morning Jacket were among 2008’s biggest draws.

All I know is that Phish and Down are playing 2009…those two bands are the only one’s worth seeing though.

Yeah I know I probably misspelled his name, fuck it. Metallica kicks ass…they always did and always will…well except for when that really shitty album came out Saint crap or whatever. Any way 2008 Bonnaroo kicked ass, it was my first one this year will be my second and a sort of graduation present to myself as well. Fuck kanya.

$250 to see some jam bands? All of the people that started these sort of gatherings are surely disappointed at how commercialized a great display of talent has gotten. This type of event should not make money but just break even. This shouldn’t be about having a band you that you don’t like playing on stage, it should be about making some office yuppie way to much money to see the bands you want to see.

Why do they sell tickets before the set list is published?

I’ve been to every bonnaroo. Metallica was one of the best shows I’ve seen on the main stage. I have seen over 80 Grateful Dead shows in my life WITH Jerry. I also have seen 1,000s of other shows of all different genres. You don’t have to like Metallica. But I bet those bitching were not there to see it. Metallica rocked out! Anybody who missed it is sorry. They were the only band that stopped the rain that night. And their slogans were “Make Metal Not Rain”. One more thing - KANYE SUCKS.

Well Kanye was terrible to say Metallica ruined bonnaroo is pretty dumb. i am by no means a metallica fan, but they put on one hell of a show. everybody i talked to was very pleasantly surprised with their set. they went out there, played their asses off and you could tell they appreciated the crowd, and appreciated being at bonnaroo.

last year was a very good fest and look forward to it again this year.

Back to the Basics | 12/6/2008, 11:13 am EST

I do hope that 2009 will be back to the roots that made this festival great. Just because some groups want to play there doesn’t mean they should. Kanye was a serious mistake and Metalica? Let Metalica stick to Rocklahoma and Kanye well just let him stick to ruining some other festival experience. You could have replaced either one of them with Dylan or any number of others that are touring. Bring on Van Morrison. I would rather see new upstart bands than the 2 afore mentioned that ruined the experience for so many. Get back to the basics and your roots please.

The Truth | 12/3/2008, 10:22 pm EST

Nothing worse than elitist hipster “fans” who love to exclude and call bands names. Get your asses up on stage and do it better. Otherwise, DONT BUY A FUCKING TICKET.

DD | 12/3/2008, 3:52 pm EST

It’s just about having fun, don’t get so upset you people.

Chris | 12/2/2008, 7:17 pm EST

Why the hell was Metallica and Kanye Fuckin’ West at Bonnaroo? Somebody explain

Used to be Great | 12/2/2008, 4:51 pm EST

Bonnaroo is like that hot girl from High School. She’s great for a year or two, then she loses her looks, gets syphillus, and cheats on your with your brother.

Metallica Sucks | 12/2/2008, 4:47 pm EST

Oh ok lets dress like hard rockers on stage.

Lars is a tool. I agree. He probably free-bases the douche cream to cover his stank.

Apparently the Only one.... | 12/2/2008, 4:43 pm EST

Way to be just a coprorate as the other guys. Bring on the $10 beer and $8. Lets invite a poser “metal” band that lives in Malibu and shops on Rodeo and charge $250 so Lars can get his prescription douche cream.

Shame on you bonnaroo. I was there the first two years when you had a soul. Now, you have changed and have at least lost one on principle alone.
