Oasis will be spending the holidays on the road with Ryan Adams, promoting their best album in a decade Dig Out Your Soul. The tour kicks off on December 3rd in Oakland, California, and Rock Daily caught up with Noel Gallagher to talk about the upcoming trek. “Oasis is a band that you either get it or you don’t,” explains the guitarist and songwriter. “Everybody knows who we are. You have to see us in league with the Rolling Stones now. Everybody’s heard of the Stones, everybody knows what they sound like, everybody knows what they do.” His goals for this tour are modest: when asked what he wants to achieve, he merely said, “Five million dollars.” Click below for more with Noel Gallagher, including his thoughts on his on-stage attack in Toronto and how he handles drugs.

Meh. If they were brilliant every night they would rule the world. They think they rule the UK. There’s a big difference. They want to act like they shun fame and success to appease their bourgeois middle class fans.

This interview should be read by every f****** idiot lead singer of every modern band today.
Brilliant as usual Noel.
Oasis–the best band to come of England in the last 20 years!

Hypocrisy Unlimited | 11/26/2008, 7:26 pm EST

Are you serious? It’s OK for Noel to say he wants five million dollars from this tour because he’s somehow “cool” but anyone else who says that is a sellout?

Goggs | 11/27/2008, 12:36 pm EST

Noel must be high off his ass to think that his cute little band, Oasis, is in par with the Rolling Stones. What a egomaniac SOB.

chris | 11/28/2008, 11:15 am EST

Man is he off his nut!No where near the Stones.

Maybe some of you should learn how to read and then read the article. He didn’t say that Oasis are as good as the stones; he said that with Oasis you know exactly what you’re getting: Rock and roll music JUST like with the Stones you know what you’re getting when you go see them. There are no surprises. Also Oasis never said they didn’t care about fame: They just said they weren’t going to s*** anybody’s d*** to get it like practically every other band out there today. Noel Gallagher always has a colourful, honest response to questions. I’d much rather laugh and be entertained than have some 20 year old “rock star” regurgitate what some PR coach has taught him to say: “Oh we’re just so lucky to be here. We admire artist x and we really respect what everybody else is doing etc etc.” If you don’t like Oasis, go listen to your Fall Out Boy/Jonas Brothers/Avril Lavigne/Daughtry .mp3s while you change your facebook status every 3 minutes. I for one choose real artists who write real songs and don’t rely on song doctors, Auto Tune, big name producers and stupid marketing gimmicks to cheapen their integrity.

Yes, we know exactly what we are getting with Oasis. How about just a SMIDGE of humility every now and then? You don’t have to fake respect for other artists in order to respect your craft. Oasis is a damn good band. And yeah, Noel and Liam can be entertaining interviews, with plenty of humor. I take most of what they say with a grain of salt. But their “fuck you, we can do without you” attitude towards their FANS is just as much of a one-note act as an artist who doesn’t want to offend anyone. Success is the result of a combination of luck and hard work. Oasis IS lucky to be where they are. There are tons of bands with more talent and originality that would kill for their spot. I DO like Oasis. Just acknowledging that they would be NOWHERE without their fans would improve their standing in my eyes immeasurably. They could take one lesson from a band like U2 which constantly understands that their fan base has placed them where they are today and for 25 years. I can see them in a league of many other bands too, that you either get or you don’t, U2 being one of them. Bringing up a name like the Rolling Stones is a calculated move in his part to stir up controversy, which is another one-note act.

I think a big part of what triggers Noel creatively is that “us against the world confidence” He’s great, period.

Hmmmmmm | 11/28/2008, 6:14 pm EST

interesting points…..fans like the fuck off attitude; kind of like a woman attracted to abusive relationships, they even find it a turnon…..i just the the “us against the world” attitude, fans should be part of the “us” and not the “world”

Joe | 11/30/2008, 2:51 pm EST

The problem with Gallagher is he doesn’t show he’s “brilliant”, he tells us.

Joe | 11/30/2008, 2:55 pm EST

This is exactly what Noel wants – a discussion of “Who’s better, Oasis or the Stones?” I swear this guy wants to have McCartney’s baby.

Like he said…you either get it, or you don’t.

Jesse | 12/19/2008, 2:04 am EST

if any of you wanks saw this tour you would understand… he is damn right, you either GET it or you don’t… I dont think he is comparing with the stones its just an off the collar remark that will get blown out of proportion because the media is to lazy to write a real story anymore.

Noel is brilliant every night. The songs he writes are f*cking magic, unquestionable creative genius – everytime he plays one of his songs, or someone in the world plays his songs, or we plug in a turn on his music – his brilliance is on show.

Francoise | 4/16/2009, 12:27 am EST

Oasis do not hide the fact that they like the fame and the success and I don’t see a damn thing wrong with that. They have both said they believe in giving their fans what they want, and that’s what they do. And that’s also what the fans pay them to do. Oasis are quick to dismiss those critics and other bands who deride them for not “challenging” their audiences with self-indulgent changes to set lists. “The fans come to see Oasis and that’s what they get.”

And as for arrogance and ego, does anyone really think that a musician who can get in front of 60,000 people without dropping in stage fright doesn’t have a huge ego? They ALL do! It’s just that some of them are nicer about it than others. Noel’s wit is razor sharp and he loves riling up the press. And they never fail to take the bait.

Let the people think what they wanna think of themselves as long as they are no killers or terrorists or other criminals
If I think that I am besides my mother the most beautiful woman in the world then it is my freedom of opinion and so does Noel.
You would rather think about yourselves and that you have a problem with it and why you have a problem with it, are you too much influenced by the media and what the mainstream thinks, too much focused on an idol and if so, why, because of a lack of self-esteem
