Prince is reportedly “very angry” after the New Yorker accused him of making anti-gay marriage comments, with the Purple One alleging that the magazine misquoted him in a recent interview. According to the article, “When asked about his perspective on social issues — gay marriage, abortion — Prince tapped his Bible and said, ‘God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out.’” However, a Prince source tells Perez Hilton, “What His Purpleness actually did was gesture to the Bible and said he follows what it teaches, referring mainly to the parts about loving everyone and refraining from judgment.” “We’re very angry he was misquoted,” says the insider.

Whether or not Prince was misquoted, the singer has shown an affinity in the past for alienating his own fanbase. In more light-hearted Prince news, the New Yorker interview revealed that he wears white socks and flip-flops at the same time, compared his conversion to Jehovah’s Witness to “Morpheus and Neo in The Matrix” and told an amusing story about a female stalker who would just sit on the Paisley Park swing set. “I went out there one day and I was, like, ‘Hey, all my friends in there say you’re a stalker. And that I should call the police. But I don’t want to do that, so why don’t you tell me what you want to happen. Why are you here? How do you want this to end?’” Prince said. “And she didn’t really have an answer for that. In the end, all she wanted was to be seen, for me to look at her. And she left and didn’t come back.”

Wow, what a divisive comment by saying “your beloved Barack Obama.” He will be the president of all USA, and we need to pull together.

I’m a Prince fan from way back, and I’m gay. For the record, while he’s released very sexual oriented material in the past, often glorifying promiscuity, his bottom line has always been about seeking “true love” and spiritual peace. Since becoming a Jehova’s Witness, he’s stopped cursing and seriously toned down the sexual innuendo in his work, so it isn’t fair to call him a hypocrite.

That being said, he’s been known to make some fairly outlandish statements and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is against gay marriage. Either way though, whether I disagree with him or not, he still can rock. Isn’t this a country where we’re supposed to be allowed to disagree?

Sure, if I met him in conversation I’d both disagree with him on this issue and point out that his music has gotten a lot less interesting since burying it in JW propaganda. But he’s still entitled to his opinions, regardless.

if this is true…i’m getting rid of everything i have of his….he can talk this smack, yet he can parade scantically clad women and simulate lebianism in his videos….this would make him a serious hypocrit! i’m aware that most Gemini can be hypocritical sometimes, but with his celebrity status and the way he promotes promiscuity, he needs to shut the fuck up!

Prince has the right to say whatever he wants. Why does it offend so many people. its just one man’s view, even if it is misquoted. Who cares?

Am i black or white. am i straight or gay - controversy.

Believers choose whatever god they want to believe in. Like many Prince chooses an intolerant god to validate his prejudices.

Why do people care about anything that celebrities think? Okay, if Prince wants to talk about songwriting, recording, killing it onstage or the benefits of living in the Minneapolis metro area, I’ll listen all day. When I want op/ed material on the important topics of the day I’ll seek out opinions other than those of the man who gave us ‘Under A Cherry Moon’.

idiots…if marriage had not been “redefined” in the 60’s the president elect’s parents would not have been able to marry in 16 states as interracial marriage was illegal - as far back as the slave days blacks could not marry other blacks because they were considered “property” — wake up people, marriage has been and will continue to be redefined, it has to — straight marriages fail 50% of the time — and that’s what you call sanctity? please. - all gay people want is the same rights you have. It does not and should not matter to you and it does not affect you — and all of your brainwashing bullshit religions based on fairy tale scripture should be burned with the rest of the books you burn. ENOUGH.
California should be ashamed of itself…especially blacks and latinos who know more than anyone what prejudice feels like…you didnt just deny the right for gays to marry you took away a right that already existed…and that’s just shameful.

100 years from now the thought of being against gay marriage will seem as narrow mined and ridiculous as being against interacial marriage.

What’s wrong with being against gay marriage?

Prince is an ass. Ask him about how 6.5 billon people will be destroyed by his loving god. or how about a blood transfusion, or organ transplant?

who cares, alot of people are against the definition of marriage being redefined, including your beloved Barack Obama.
