Rise Against started out as an aggro-acoustic outfit but now headline large clubs with their turbo-charged, politically-minded punk. Their new album Appeal to Reason is among the best releases of the year, though the group is aware of how rock shows sometimes go. “We don’t want to bum people out with too many new songs,” says frontman Tim McIlrath.
