James Hetfield: “Everybody Wants to See a Train Wreck”

James Hetfield was famously burned by faulty pyro in Montreal in 1992, but those aren’t his only scars. “I think at one point we did a body scan and put it in our fan-club magazine, highlighting my broken wrist, broken ribs, the burns, this and that,” explains the Metallica frontman. “I ruptured a disk in my back on the Summer Sanitarium Tour a few years back. That’s the nagging one.” But as he and his band have proven with the already-platinum number one album Death Magnetic, what didn’t kill him only made him stronger.
