Gone Country, CMT’s reality series that attempts to convert celebrities into country music stars, will inexplicably return for a third season in January. After Julio Iglesias Jr. won season one and Sebastian Bach was season two champ, “celebrities” vying for some of that red state fame will include former Miss USA Tara Conner, 21 Jump Street actor Richard Greico and American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini. The Monkees‘ Micky Dolenz, Taylor Dayne and Prince cohort Sheila E. will also compete. But this year’s strangest contestant, the Bobby Brown of this season’s pack, is Mr. P-Funk himself, George Clinton. Clinton will attempt to go from Parliament to the Grand Ol’ Opry, from stoned to rhinestoned in his pursuit to record a country song with John Rich, half of Big & Rich and host of Gone Country. The magnificent seven contestants will all live under Rich’s giant Nashville roof as they’re schooled in the ways of country music. Production is currently underway on season three.
