While the music world celebrates Barack Obama’s win, the Democratic domination in Tuesday’s election has led to the demise of Washington D.C.’s most powerful band. The Second Amendments, comprised of five members of the House of Representatives, learned that three of their five members would not return to Congress following the election. Nevada keyboardist/Republican Jon Porter lost his re-election bid, while bassist Dave Whedon of Florida retired. Drummer Kenny Hulshof, a Republican from Missouri, also left Congress, and his planned replacement, Bill Sali of Idaho, was voted out of office. What’s left of the band, which specialized in playing rock classics, is guitarist Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan and singer Collin Peterson from Minnesota and the band’s lone Democrat. However, the band might be restocked with all new members/representatives, including New York democratic representative John Hall, who was a member of the 70s group Orleans.
