Having successfully completed his role on the campaign trail, Bruce Springsteen will reportedly go back to work on his next album, according to Backstreets. During his six-song concert in Cleveland, Springsteen debuted a new song entitled “Workin’ On a Dream.” The song is expected to appear on the follow-up to last year’s Magic and may be out in time for Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony in January 2009. Before helping out Obama, Springsteen had spent the autumn season prepping the new album. The winter months promise to be just as busy for Bruce, as he and his E Street Band will also rock the Super Bowl halftime show on February 1st.

Yayyyy! I love Bruce! I can’t wait!

I love Bruce Springsteen and his democratic point of view. The fat cat republicians are so fucked up that they may never win another presidential election. You can stop whining and admit that you earned the old fashioned ass kicking that you took from Obama based on what that retarded Bush has done in his role as President of the United States.

JD | 11/6/2008, 12:26 am EST

I bet at least half the album will consist of outtakes from “Magic.” Bruce said that there was enough good songs leftover from the sessions to make another kickaxe album.

And maybe we will see a 25th Anniversary edition box set of “Born in the USA.”

I grew up in an area where you either heard Top 40 or country on the radio, so there wasn’t a lot of Bruce (maybe a little Hungry Heart but that was it). Then as a teenager picked up Born in the USA on a whim when it came out in June of ‘84. By the end of summer I’d bought hia whole catalogue and regardless of politics, I remain moved by his words 24 years later. And I’m glad to see a third E Street album after such a long hiatus after Born in the USA.

I wish Billie Jo weren’t so bitter in President Elect Obama’s victory that she had to use a term describing mental disability in such a derogatory way, but then again, it but to each her own.

Please let me produce this album, Brucey! Brendan O’Brien sucks, with his fancy pants string arrangements and his hip, grungey sound.

Nathan | 11/6/2008, 1:11 pm EST

I’m just hoping for a big North American tour next year.

harpo | 11/6/2008, 1:30 pm EST

Billie Joe you sound suspiciously like Matt Taibbi to me…we can call you the “Blowhard Twins”.

Jesse | 11/6/2008, 1:48 pm EST

I bet Bruce blew in his pants after Obama won…it still amazes me to this day that people still like this guys music..

Shannon | 11/6/2008, 3:19 pm EST

Lets hope that a big tour comes along with the new album!!

JSD | 11/6/2008, 7:32 pm EST

Jesse, I’m surprised you can figure out how to type.

writerpete | 11/6/2008, 8:17 pm EST

Springsteen is simply the best there is.

D. Nick | 11/7/2008, 1:37 pm EST

Too bad the Boss doesn’t stick to music…..easy to bash politics when you’re worth a fortune…stick to the tunes…I Love Your Music..couldn’t care less about your Politics

Arijit | 11/7/2008, 2:21 pm EST

EXCITED!!! Not. Bring on Chinese Democracy.

miggidy | 11/7/2008, 7:20 pm EST

Bruce hasn’t put out anything worth listening to since Tunnel of Love. Magic was God awful. The production was atrocious and the songwriting lazy. I bet RS is already writing the 5 star review for the new record, though.

ryanmac | 11/7/2008, 7:28 pm EST

miggidy:

fyi, the rising, and magic were made after tunnel of love, not before. sooo, your comment is not true.

miggidy | 11/7/2008, 7:32 pm EST

Oh, I’m well aware of the chronology of Bruce’s releases, and the Rising was one of the most overrated albums of all time. It was too long, and the production was just as bad as that on Magic. I’m just not one of the flock that is going to heap knee-jerk praise on some guy who thinks just because he wears a flannel shirt he’s some working class hero.

Billy Sutter | 11/7/2008, 11:55 pm EST

New album? Excellent. Same producer? Oh shit. Brendan O’Brien’s production sucks. Mud. Mush. He’s single-handedly ruined the sound of the E Street Band, and I can’t believe that Bruce likes the sound of his last three albums. Yet, I will buy it. Or download it. Because, after all, there’s Bruce and there’s everybody else. No surrender.

harpo | 11/8/2008, 3:32 pm EST

Now, now JSD…that comment was not in the spirit of President ElectObama’s bi-partisan reach across the aisle.

I think an apology is in order, or you might have to relinquish your Move On. Org decoder ring!!!

Just trying to help neighbor!!

harpo | 11/8/2008, 3:50 pm EST

Amen D. Nick….did you check out the pictures of Bruce and Patti at the Ohio rally for Obama last Sunday…..I think they downed at least half a dozen of those pitchers of Kool-Aid each.

Frightening stuff!!!!!!

The highest emotion.

In a winding
road you can
find the light
of a barrier, and
always, when
you try to
forget her, a
lovely emotion
discovers in sips
a delicate candle.

He is still the boss! I have seen 4 shows on the magic-tour. Paris, Milano and both shows in Barcelona. I can tell you folks- this guy still rocks. I also love his point of view when he talks about politics. He is a working class hero and he is down to earth. On this planet you will not find any other artist which is comparable to Bruce!
I love this guy and I´m so glad about the fact that there is no more Bush in the White House!
Obama/ Springsteen – that sounds good man!

Greetings from Austria/ Europe!

It’s kind of funny…I was never a big Bruce fan when I was young. My father loved him though and I can remember Born to Run as his favorite LP. My father worked 12 hour night shifts as a laborer at a copper smelter in Northern Canada. Now at age 33 I love Bruce’s music. It appeals to hard working people, who are not simple-minded nor ignorant. I look forward to 2009 for many reasons, and Bruce had a part in making that happen.

It’s just another day, It’s just another day, for the hard case by the Bay, till I get my pay! It’s just another day, I will live thouhgt it any way; Ya it’s just another day; and I will wate till I get my pay!

harpo | 11/13/2008, 2:10 pm EST

Bernie,

Hey brother..sounds like the Euro Kool Aid you got a hold of is more potent than what we have state side.

Drink up!!!!!

Mo | 1/7/2009, 1:43 pm EST

How truly pathetic.

Thanks for giving the finger to a great portion of your fans, Bruce. All these years supporting you, and this is what I get?

J | 1/13/2009, 10:19 am EST

Why is everyone focussing on the fact Bruce rallied for Obama in the election? Everyone is entitled to support whatever political party they want, it certainly does not change the greatness of his music. Secondly, Magic had some great tracks on it, a number of you keep commenting about the quality of production on the album but I think you all just like to appear as music buffs without just sitting back and letting a song sink in. And come on, Radio Nowhere is a great contemporary song still with the Springsteen flavour, I mean do people actually expect another Born To Run to be on the next album? Wake up to yourselves
