Another song from the Killers’ upcoming Day & Age has hit the Internet. If nothing else, the synth-stained “Spaceman” is the sunniest song ever written about an alien abduction and autopsy. “I was kind of hoping to leave this star-crossed world behind, but when they cut me open, I guess I changed my mind,” sings frontman Brandon Flowers after watching maybe one too many episodes of The X-Files. The song first surfaced last month, reaching a large audience when it was featured during the Killers’ SNL performance. The influence of dance music producer Stuart Price is especially noticeable on the track, rumored to be the album’s second single following “Human.” The remainder of Day & Age will beam into stores on November 22nd.

Man do I hate this band… Are We Human or are we dancer? Who cares, you suck! This band is the epitome of wuss-rock! Grow a pair!

They Suck | 11/8/2008, 10:24 am EST

I was a huge fan of theirs when they came out with the fist CD….then the ego’s went nuts and now Brandon Flowers thinks he is gods gift to music or something….get over yourself and write some descent lyrics…the songs on this new album are good…but the lyrics are just dumb…..FIX IT!

i personally think ‘human’ is also about alien abduction, and i think the whole album is stained with this theme.

I loved that song. Unfortunatly it was the only song on the album that was good. or at least i used to think so. Their songs used to have such meaning and now its just, eh.

Anonymous | 11/30/2008, 8:58 pm EST

It isn’t about aliens!! Shut the front door!!! Much meaning is hidden in lryics, not all are plainly sung out. Stop being dumb and open your eyes for once. The world of consumerism is taking hold of everyone. Damn puppets!!!!

FUCK U ALL
THE KILLERS ROCK!!!
atleast they arent a boring band who just writes their crappy lyrics out

fuck off brandon f does not think he”s god either. if you dont like the killers, dont write about them!

Me | 1/9/2009, 12:33 pm EST

Mmmm. Wuss-rock is delicious!

A Person With A Name | 1/11/2009, 2:50 am EST

The lyrics tell you it’s about aliens. There isn’t a hidden meaning. If you find one, then you’re looking too hard. I think The Killers are great, but some of their songs are a lot better than others.

Their songs used to have meaning? Almost every song on their album deals with interesting subjects. Nothing has change from “Mr. Brightside” except how they sound, which isn’t all that different.

Great song.
And every song has emotion behind it, so that is sort of a deeper meaning in itself, as well as the fact the abduction’s “all in your mind…”, which eventually convinces the narrator that it’s “all in his mind”. alien abduction is the motiff

Greetings_From_Space | 1/22/2009, 10:43 am EST

hello there, this song spaceman is about alien abduction and once again it focuses on how the government will go to great lengths to really make you believe “It’s all in your mind”
no wonder he says that alot.
maybe brandon got abducted, you never know…
So long….

Derrick | 1/23/2009, 5:33 pm EST

Okay. This song is not about aliens. its Uncle Jonny p.2. Its about how his uncle shot himself when he thought aliens were gonna abduct him. Jonny has survived btw.

Benny | 1/31/2009, 6:16 pm EST

The song Spaceman is one of The Killers’ most fun/ crazy songs so far. I believe “Losing Touch” should be their next single right after. rock on!

Anyone get the visual stuff in the video? reffering to other songs on the album. like he is wearing a shiny tiger glove – neon tiger
image of hills at the start, and soldior people – the world we live in.
The fairytale characters – dustland fairytale.

By far my favorite song on this album; as a whole Day & Age was a little too dancey for my taste, but I love the fact that The Killers are able to reinvent their sound every single time.

bbmaster21 | 5/30/2009, 6:56 pm EST

The Killers are the BEST!!!!! All of the songs they make rock, not just Spaceman. Human, Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, Smile Like You Mean It, and When You Were Young Rock

BoomBoomPow | 6/3/2009, 1:26 pm EST

Why do so many people miss the metaphor in songwriting. This song has NOTHING to do with aliens or autopsy. If you knew anything about Brandon Flowers or the KIllers you would know that the majority of their songs are very metaphorical (as well as spiritual). To me this song is a reference to fame, celebrity, the music industry and MTV.

I eat glue. | 6/21/2009, 5:25 am EST

omg who cares?! they can write about what they want about, we don’t have to anaylse it for them!

Isn’t Spaceman about the trappings of fame, and the feeling of being stuck between two worlds?
