  • Neil Young canceled his Los Angeles concert last night out of respect for a union picket. Young, an honorary member of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees, said “I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE.” The concert will be rescheduled for 2009.
  • The suspected handgun used in the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew was recovered by police during a search nearby one of the murder scenes. Police have turned over the .45-caliber gun to a crime lab.
  • Bruce Springsteen, My Morning Jacket and DMC have contributed tracks to the Hard Rock Café’s charity compilation Serve3. The album will benefit the restaurant chain’s “Imagine There’s No Hunger” campaign.
  • Aerosmith’s Joe Perry revealed his support of John McCain for President. “I’ve been a hardcore Republican my whole life,” Perry said. The McCain campaign responded in a statement “John McCain absolutely appreciates his support.”

Well, now that Joe the Plumber and Joe the Guitar-er have spoken…

“I’m a Republican because my mom taught me if you work hard you get what you worked for”.

Right, Joe. Do you not still pay taxes or something? Did you not make any money during those Clinton years? (Your money from the Carter years went up your nose and in your arm, don’t blame him for that).

Under Obama, Joe’s fans get a tax cut. Under McCain, Joe gets a tax cut. Does Joe think he needs another tax cut?

Wow Aerosmith (at least Joe anyway) must be back on drugs again. Hope they make a new record soon.

Finally, a musician is not afraid to say that they are Republican. Go Joe!

What about Steven Tyler?

Thanks to Joe perry for speaking up on this subject. I think we all have to make decisions for ourselves. Dragging up inuendo and probably false statements about another person just insults the attacker not the attackee. Those that live in glass houses….. BTW I support McCain an HONEST AMERICAN!

i’ll bet lots of prominent rock stars are republicans like joe perry…they just don’t talk about it publicly…

Can someone please mention that this cancellation, especially coming the day of the show is ridiculous? The union was on strike at the Forum in April for the Foo Fighters show, and it would be my assumption that the union was on strike long before that. The fact that Neil Young’s booking team didn’t realize that till now is pretty much inexcusable. He is doing the honorable thing to cancel, butnobody is showing good faith on this one, the union should have
notified the artist (since he is a member) the minute the show was
booked. The fact that the union or the artist failed to recognize
till now means that the show should go on regardless. Why should Neil Young look out for his brothers and sisters who clearly are not looking out for him? The show should be moved to another venue and still go on.

damn. i lose so much respect for anyone when they say they supported McCain or Bush in the last 8 years. It’s not something to be proud of, if you like peace, equality and clean water.
