Nobody at the NFL Network Owns a Copy of “Sam’s Town”

Maybe we’re late on this revelation, but yesterday while watching the New York Jets’ Brett Favre play catch with the Kansas City Chiefs, one of the beneficiaries of Favre’s interception party was a Chiefs cornerback named Brandon Flowers. Yes, just like the singer of the Killers. We knew Flowers performed at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday night, but was he also rocking the astroturf at the Meadowlands on Sunday? Just when we thought the Mormon lead singer of the Killers was spending his Sundays as a 5′10″ rookie cornerback on the Chiefs, a simple Google search revealed that the two are, in fact, completely different people. Still, after the Chiefs’ Flowers snagged two interceptions off arguably our generation’s best quarterback, the last place Chiefs fans are wasting a golden opportunity if they haven’t nicknamed their Flowers “Mr. Brightside” already. See what all the Hot Fuss is about in the highlights above.

The highlights of the Chiefs vs. Jets on Football Night in America on NBC was way better.

Dan Patrick even mentioned Brandon Flowers of The Killers during the highlight when Brandon Flowers of the Chiefs intercepted a pass & took it for a touchdown. Even better, he mentioned a Killers lyric during the highlight. “Coming out of my cage & I’ll be doing just fine”

Y’know, when the Broncos player Darrent Williams was gunned down almost two years ago he was with a fellow player and with a “Brandon Flowers” in the limo. I often wondered if it was the Killers frontman but this revelation seems to make a bit more sense.
