With this being the second-to-last weekend before Election Day, the music world is gearing up its support for Barack Obama. First, Dave Matthews and his frequent collaborator Tim Reynolds will play a free show, dubbed the “Last Chance for Change”, in Richmond, Virginia. Tickets are available at a first-come, first-serve basis Obama campaign offices in both Richmond and Charlottesville, which was the birthplace of the Dave Matthews Band. Jay-Z will continue his string of Obama benefit shows with a free rally and concert in Cleveland, Ohio on October 29th. Another “Last Chance for Change” show, Jigga will be joined by LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers at the event.

And just in case Obama needed the support of the swing Stone Temple Pilots bloc, Scott Weiland announced that he’s supporting the Democratic candidate for president. “Barack Obama is the leader, the listener and the visionary with international respect to take us from the depths of where we are today and bring us to a new place where dreams are made; that place is called America,” Weiland said on his website. Lastly, Obama will finally make his long-awaited appearance at Chicago’s Grant Park, the site of the Lollapalooza festival, for a rally on the evening of Election Day, November 4th. With early predictions estimating a crowd of 100,000+, Obama is expected to draw more people to the park than Radiohead, Kanye West and Nine Inch Nails manage to draw this past summer.

who gives a shit? A Scott Weiland endorsement? Just what everyone needs. A guy who is metally ill giving political opinions.
And of course Jay-z is just a street dope

By the way (muzikman), if everyone shared your “right way” we’d all be fucked so shut the fuck up. That’s just your lame ass opinion that’s not backed up with facts. Scott Weiland is sober and Jay-Z is a multimillionaire. Looks like your wrong.

Yeah, uh, Scott, can you curb your enthusiasm for a sec? But I digress…

Jay-Z has done more for himself, in the true American sense, than all of us, definitely. He certainly didn`t spend time on message boards–went out and got what he wanted. Shawn Carter is no different than John Rockerfeller, working hard (hustin`), buying and selling The Dream.

He`s up there, you`re not. Most of us are proud.

There’s no accounting for taste..
The number one show is “American Idol”.
This election is no different. It is a popularity contest (especially among the naive young).
The average American is not an educated voter and has the attention span of a gnat.

Jay-Z. Forgive me does he sing or play an instrument? I don’t see any talent there at all …
American culture and taste is going down the shitter and is going to get worse under Obama’s permissive ways. You’ll see him rubbin elbow’s with all of these fools. (Jay-Z ,Puff Daddy, maybe Snoop?)

My “Obama prize” would be a $500 tax cut. Is that really “change”?

Who are the Jonas Brothers endorsing? Wait, they can’t vote……

Jay-Z principal talent is his way with words. Clever lyrics and taste in samples or backing tracks is what has made hip hop and Rap popular. Any can sample or compose a good tune, that’s why in the last 40 years we have 1000’s of them. Singing isn’t a key, though it helps. Great singers are only as good as their lyrics and backing tracks. Jay-Z has a way with words that appeals to people and good taste in backing tracks. It’s not far removed to say that was Dylan’s early appeal, his singing voice wasn’t very good, he put his lyrics of basic folk music that had been around for decades and longer that had be recycled over the years, but he had a creative mind and a gift for storytelling and poetic verse… So there you go. And if you don’t like Dylan, that’s fine too, just be an equal opportunity music snob.
