With Best Buy Deal in Place, Guns N’ Roses Album Finally Arrives

It’s a day many Guns N’ Roses fans thought would never come: Chinese Democracy, the album Axl Rose has labored over for more than a decade, will finally hit stores on Sunday, November 23rd (a departure from the normal Tuesday record release day). The album will be sold exclusively in Best Buy stores and online at Bestbuy.com and iTunes. A music video is in the works, and the band — in which Rose is the only remaining original member — is expected to tour in 2009, according to a source close to G N’ R. “The music is well worth waiting for,” says Gary Arnold, senior entertainment officer for Best Buy, which began negotiating the deal in 2007. “We’ve all heard the stories about this album, and now everybody gets to hear that it’s real.”

The album’s 14 songs include the poppy “Better,” rocker “Shackler’s Revenge” (featured in the new Rock Band 2), the power ballad “If the World” (which plays in the new film Body of Lies), the anthemic title track and a song called “Scraped” that was previously unknown to fans. “It’s going to be a great rock Christmas,” Arnold says. “I just hope it doesn’t take 14 years for the next one.” BestBuy.com has a listings page up that isn’t taking pre-orders yet but does have the full track list and suggests that there will be several different versions of the album available (or at least a few different covers).

Check out my solo

jarmo | 10/17/2008, 12:14 pm EST

We already heard 11 tracks that have leaked.

It’s shit.

And it’s wrong that Axl uses the GNR brand to promote his nonsensical solo album. It’s WRONG.

Without Slash, Izzy and Duff there’s no Guns N’Roses.

kwijibo | 10/17/2008, 12:14 pm EST

who cares?!

spaghetti destruction | 10/17/2008, 12:25 pm EST

pergy | 10/17/2008, 12:36 pm EST

Awesome news, finally!

pergy | 10/17/2008, 12:38 pm EST

Nathan…it aint no appetite because its not 1987 anymore dude! the leaked tracks were above average, but again they were demos and not the finished product. i have heard old demos from appetite and they arent that special either bud!

Jeff_P | 10/17/2008, 1:29 pm EST

I’m sorry but history has moved on from this band and without the original members, this is just the bastard child of Steely Dan.

Can’t wait to hear the whole record, start to finish. I’m also curious to see if the iTunes version will have bonus tracks.

Pete H | 10/17/2008, 1:36 pm EST

Yeah, Bandit, “The Blues” is the best of the leaked tracks. Someone said it is there, just with a different title.

Boy | 10/17/2008, 2:01 pm EST

You are all Morons, this album will be terrible! There is no way a band could possibly spend this much time on an album and have it wind up NOT being an absolute mess! F Axl, F him hard!

LALD | 10/17/2008, 2:07 pm EST

Have to tell my Grand Kids to pre-order the NEXT Album.!!!!!Lol

Ari | 10/17/2008, 2:10 pm EST

This is historic, people. I’m breaking a rule by actually going out and buying this cd. I’ve heard 11 of the 14 songs, but who cares. Axl has kept his promise. This is the return of killer hard rock at its finest. Watch out lame ass mofos, chinese democracy is here…..lame music will no longer be tolerated….rap and emo fans can suck my dick.

GN'R is dead | 10/17/2008, 2:17 pm EST

who wants to hear this album, this is not GN’R this is axl’s band, but it’s no more one of the best bands in the world – Chinese Democracy sucks!

GNR Fan | 10/17/2008, 2:28 pm EST

Where’s Paul McCartney? I need to borrow his It’s about F**kin’ time shirt.

Joe | 10/17/2008, 2:29 pm EST

I’m pretty sure that “Street of Dreams” is “The Blues” but cannot confirm yet. No matter. Great leaks already include “Madagascar” “There was a Time” “I.R.S” “Sorry” and “Better”.

This album is gonna be good.

brent | 10/17/2008, 2:30 pm EST

GnR is Dead- how can chinese democracy suck when no one has heard all the official songs yet? we all know axl is a prick, but just because it doesn’t have slash, duff, izzy, etc. in the band doesn’t mean it will suck. velvet revolver had those guys in the band, and neither of their albums stacks up to ANY of GNR’s stuff. by your logic, i guess the whole original band sucks… you’re an idiot

Jason | 10/17/2008, 2:34 pm EST

Death Magnetic, Chinese Democracy, and good (not great) albums from Trivium, Slipknot, Disturbed, and Mastodon? I’d say hard rock is back! now maybe if Fall Out Boy can finally go away, music will be good again

Tyson | 10/17/2008, 2:38 pm EST

This album will be GREAT. Everyone should be happy that an artist with real talent is releasing an album. For all of those who bitch and make fun of Axl, look yourselves in the mirror and you’ll see where the real problem is at.

GN'R is dead | 10/17/2008, 2:49 pm EST

oh, come one, you know what that means, i dindn’t say that velvet revelover is as good as GnR, but thias album can’t be s great as early GnR albums, GNR is Axl AND Slash Izzy and Duff

V | 10/17/2008, 2:54 pm EST

It might end up being a good album but it certainly isn’t GNR. Last I checked GNR broke-up a long time ago. Just aint the same so whatever.

marsha | 10/17/2008, 3:16 pm EST

isn’t this the last album that the gnr of the old days did before they broke up??? where ass-axle wouldn’t agree on something that was going on with the group at that time and refused to sign his name so to speak??? so…i figure if it has the original members, it should be great!!!! although with ass-axle touring with his faux-gnr band, i don’t think that would be too great of a show!!! ugh!!! former members: UNITE!!! (please!)

GNRFAN | 10/17/2008, 3:17 pm EST

Axl’s howl will be heard…this record will be 3 times as good as any record released in the last 10 years.

Steven Adler | 10/17/2008, 3:23 pm EST

Axl,

I’m still available. Why didn’t you ask me to play on the album?

Harold Peratesties | 10/17/2008, 3:27 pm EST

brent, I’m thinking you have some unquenched man love for Axl that you have deep issues over. Your post seems more personal than observational.
Take at easy dude, the voices should go away soon.

Harold Peratesties | 10/17/2008, 3:40 pm EST

Did I ever happen mention that the late great Eric Carr of KISS gave me a dry handjob in the back of his El Camino in 86′? No…?

Did I ever mention that I received a dry handjob from the late great Eric Carr of KISS in the back of his el Camino back in 86′? No?
hee hee

Swingline | 10/17/2008, 3:43 pm EST

Axl held on to the band name and nothing else. Trying to think of another band in history where only the lead singer held on to the name and actually did something worth while with it. Iggy held his own as a solo post-Misfits, as did Ozzy post-Sabbath and Danzig post-Misfits. Why can’t Axl do the same and leave the past alone? It would seem to give the music a better chance to be heard on its own merit instead of immediately judging it against the past work, which is what a lot of people will do.

marsha | 10/17/2008, 3:47 pm EST

I once blew a line off Bun E. Carlos’ little prick in a hotel room in New Mexico. Serious.

Props to Axl for making it available for download as well. The nearest Best Buy is 45 minutes away.

Swingline | 10/17/2008, 4:09 pm EST

Thanks to the chunk of a Cleveland Steamer who signed my name to the Jonas Bros. post.

GrayFox117 | 10/17/2008, 4:19 pm EST

Wow, talk about full circle!….It’s like 1991 all over again. New material from Metallica, AC/DC and Guns N Roses (or I mean Axl Rose)…Loved Metallica’s new reocrd and the stuff I’ve heard from AC/DC’s new one sounds great too……….I’m still not sold on this release from Axl actually happening though, I’ll believe it when I wake up on 11/25, walk into best buy and pick up the album with my bare hands……. I’ve just been burned too many times by Rose to get my hopes up………got my fingers crossed!!!………by the way it’s great hear some good hard rock/metal this year that’s actually good from the likes above, so if this is for realz and the record does come out………I hope it kicks major arse!!!!!!!

Dickweed | 10/17/2008, 4:28 pm EST

What’s the deal with these fuckin box stores getting exclusive rights to selling a band’s CD’s? Wal-Mart is the only outlet (with the exception of those small indie stores) selling AC/DC’s new CD, and now Best Buy is exclusively selling the new GNR? I hope this doesn’t become a new trend because not everyone lives near a Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Fuck that, you might as well just download it for free off a FTP program.

axlr | 10/17/2008, 4:41 pm EST

keep hating you all will buy it and make this album a huge hit…..welcome back axl rose

Ching Chow | 10/17/2008, 4:47 pm EST

I’m about as looking forward to this new GnR album as much as I’m looking forward to a McCain presidency… in other words – not at all!!

deanofmedia | 10/17/2008, 4:49 pm EST

I try really hard not to pay attention to bands. I never watched “Some Kind of Monster” and I’m glad I didn’t, because Death Magnetic is an awesome album. Who cares what anyone says about Metallica? Who really cares what Metallica does in their personal lives? I don’t. I like music. Period.

I heard so many people whine and complain about the Smashing Pumpkins and how it wasn’t REAL band anymore without James and Darcy. So what?!? Zeitgeist wasn’t an overall great “album” but it had at least 3 or 4 really great songs. I don’t care what people think about Billy Corgan, he makes great music.

Which brings me to Guns N Roses. It’s not the original band?!? Well, that’s old news. Get over it.

The only thing that matters is whether the music is good or not and that’s up to the individual. Don’t let other people decide what YOU like.

DORF | 10/17/2008, 5:33 pm EST

I won’t believe it until I actually see it in the store.

DaveM | 10/17/2008, 6:19 pm EST

Just waiting for AXL to say this himself. I’ve heard many times 11 of the 14 tracks. This will be (should be afetr 15 years!!!) a very good album.

paddy | 10/17/2008, 6:50 pm EST

GnR isnt touring, Axl is touring with a backing band

chrisD | 10/17/2008, 6:52 pm EST

I seriously thot the “Government” had put Axl away, thinking GnR was “dangerous to the ‘establishment’”!

Damn!…g ot a bone and a wet-spot just thinking about the new album!

Pop-the cork…!

Axl | 10/17/2008, 6:56 pm EST

Steven,

Because you can’t keep a beat, and can’t stay off the shit.

Jason | 10/17/2008, 7:01 pm EST

wow Genesis boxset, new Death of the Neighbourhood, new Cure, AND new GNR? best fall for music EVER. This is going to be great.

mullethead | 10/17/2008, 7:06 pm EST

Too bad there are so many morons who won’t give the music a chance because they can’t get over Slash. Their loss though. Guns is better off without him. Just listen to Snakepit and Velvet Revolver if you need proof. Slash is a washed up dinosaur who ran out of ideas in the early 90s and cares more about selling his image and padding his bank account than making music

Axl is going to prove a lot of people wrong with this album. It will be a great album worthy of the GNR name.

You all get exited with GNR | 10/17/2008, 7:21 pm EST

Everytime any rumors suface regarding GNR everyone gets exited and starts blogging about it. If Axl was not relevant and the best f*king frontman ever, no f* one cared if a 40 year would edit an album.
Axl is the f*ing motha.
Slash too – his bio is also the motha of f*ing.

yeah | 10/17/2008, 7:24 pm EST

yeah aren’t we suppose to get some free soda or somtehing for this

José | 10/17/2008, 7:43 pm EST

America is a country based on hope. We voted for George W. Bush for a second term, and now we’re hoping, against all reason or hope, and even after four HORRENDOUS records (Lies, Illusion 1 & 2 and that pasta cover piece of shit) that Guns will deliver a record that will not be unlistenable. Thank you.

marshall | 10/17/2008, 7:54 pm EST

Axl does things his way, period.
No compromises….it’s hard to find that these days, especially in Hollywood…

Mitch | 10/17/2008, 8:22 pm EST

This November Axl will no longer be the industry joke….Chinese Democracy has arrived!!!

therzo | 10/17/2008, 9:45 pm EST

From what I’ve heard of it, the entire album will just be generic radio rock; which is what GnR became after Appetite For Destruction anyways.

P0sers d1E | 10/17/2008, 9:47 pm EST

yep. r’n'r is back. and its not because of GNR. Death Magnetic is a B album for metallica, definately better than that sober rock with st. anger, but GNR, with there what 18 years off? expect nothing better than APPITITE, this is just a meal ticket for axl.

polltax | 10/17/2008, 10:15 pm EST

Kids entered first grade and graduated high school..in the time this silly album took to be released.
Talk about OCD…Axl, look in the mirror.

David | 10/17/2008, 11:14 pm EST

Axl,Why is’nt it a solo album?,less presure more freedom. You can have who ever you want to play with you.Do’nt hide behind your past it catches up with you.

Enough said!

Richardross101 | 10/18/2008, 5:16 am EST

if you werent a GNR fan you wouldnt read this and that being said you are an Axl fan and if Axl is putting this out and Slash isnt on it oh well its still gonna be good. last time i check the past 4 cds slash did wasnt so good

The Truth Commission | 10/18/2008, 7:06 am EST

Metallica, GNR, AC/DC, it’s 1988 all over again!

If you were born after 1984, FUCK YOU! You don’t know what real rock is, and you never will. You hash on the leftovers from greater generations than yours! All you know is self-pitying grunge and wrist-cutting emo. You think playing Enter Sandman on Rock Band is badass. L.O.S.E.R.!

In the Bush administration almost all music has been de-balled and integrated into mainstream culture where it can be drained of all it’s inspiration. Where are the anti-Iraq-war, anti-Bush, controversial albums from the under twenty-fives? There aren’t any, because they’re ALL AFRAID! They’re the weakest generation of all time, politically, socially and musically. Good protest music gets heard, but it needs to get made first.

GNR was the greatest band in the world because they rocked, and they had the guts to write and play songs about what most of their audience was feeling but couldn’t express. It was the cool, anti-establishment contrast to the fascist, religious mainstream of America (and elsewhere.) GNR were a force of nature. So were Metallica in their Master of Puppets era, and AC/DC before they got neutered by Wal-Mart and Rock Band.

Axl is taking a lot of shit for Chinese Democracy, but he’s laughing all the way to the bank with all the hype from idiots who want to waste their time bashing him. It’ll create more hype for the CD, which will then be the greatest-selling rock record (relatively speaking, taking file-sharing into account) since Nevermind.

So Axl bashers, keep it up. When GNR’s on top, all’s right with the world. And it doesn’t matter who’s in the band. Slash’s projects have either tanked or have been de-clawed, uninspiring pablum: Was there any controversy over any content in the Velvet Revolver records? No, because these are neutered middle-aged men who don’t want to upset the powers that be!

Axl was always the heart of GNR, the reason GNR was feared by parents, feminists and your local city council. If he can make the news just once having pissed off some bible-beating republican asshole who wants GNR placed on the same list as al-Qaeda, we’ll know the rock and roll is really back: no more wussy fourteen-year-olds drumming Rock Band to AC/DC and thinking they’re badass, their parents, long ago having sold out souls to Karl Rove, approving all along.

Cheesecrop | 10/18/2008, 7:23 am EST

The album should hit #1 based on longtime fans and the curious. It’ll do o.k., sell a bit, but don’t expect some life-altering record here. Once upon a time this man realy could deliver a life-altering piece, but those days may be over. If it manages to be quality hard rock it’ll stick around in rotation, and maybe he can build off of that. Folks who say hard rock went away, give a listen to everything that’s come down the line in the past 7-8 years. It never went away. It became somewhat generic, but if you dig you can find quality stufff out there.

Rascoon | 10/18/2008, 7:49 am EST

Awesome! This means a free Dr Pepper for everyone! :)

Phil | 10/18/2008, 9:20 am EST

I cant wait to get my free dr. pepper

Chuck | 10/18/2008, 9:27 am EST

Ill never buy a G N R album without Slash and the other real members. Velvet Revolver was better than anything Axl could ever do himself. I would advise sending a message to Axl by NOT purchasing this “music,” even though it will probably be a critical failure and commercial success. Like Star Wars Attack of the Clones…… Axl has lost his damn mind.

generic post | 10/18/2008, 11:33 am EST

hey guys I got a really cool original idea, lets say the band isnt the same without slash, izzy, and duff, thatd be really cool and interesting!!!

JokerOC | 10/18/2008, 12:04 pm EST

I don’t care if the album is terrible or great, the simple fact its actually coming out is mind blowing. I luv G’N'R, but I don’t have high expectations for this a;bum. But realistically, good for Axl for putting it out. The guy can be a little mentally unstable and I think for his own personal well being this album needed to be relaesed, but as always you never know w/ Axl, he is always, one of the most entertaining rock stars there are. The drama will be worth having Axl back. Welcome back to the jungle Axl.

JokerOC | 10/18/2008, 12:05 pm EST

Buckethead | 10/18/2008, 1:32 pm EST

Axl, have you seen my KTFC hat somewhere..? I think I forgot it in the studio before I left the band..

Biggie Bigs | 10/18/2008, 3:24 pm EST

I’ll believe it when it happens. Waiting for the inevitable delay.

Nick | 10/18/2008, 4:22 pm EST

Axl is Gun’s N Roses. This album will rule, and Slash can look for another junkie lead singer to sing for that shitty band he calls a super group. Or perhaps he can do another god awful Slash’s Snakepit album. Slash is great, but anyone who has seen G’N R live with the new lineup sees how much they breathe new life into even the classic Guns songs. The new Guns will bring some classic music back to the masses.

Anonymous | 10/18/2008, 4:48 pm EST

People who are calling those who wont buy this album stupid or moronic are the real idiots because its not a GnR album its an Axl Rose album, and someone who spends a decade making a single album, and inevitably ends up losing every single one of his band mates is obviously mentally unstable and lacking in common sense.

If you think this album will be anything like the good ol’ days and resemble Guns N Roses in any way besides a lunatic screaming your in for a rude awakening.

Matt S | 10/18/2008, 5:31 pm EST

The fact that they aren’t taking pre-orders really shows that Best Buy isn’t as definite about this as Rolling Stone would like us to think.

Josh | 10/18/2008, 6:04 pm EST

Is anybody going to make the point that this is not a Guns N’ Roses record, but rather an Axl Rose record? Because I don’t think anybody has been razor-sharp incisive enough to bring it up.

Oh, wait. Like a million people over the past ten years. Good. I’m glad that’s FINALLY out of the way.

NotMozart | 10/18/2008, 6:41 pm EST

“Smile” anyone? A “lost” album by a great band is most often not as great as the expectations for it. No Slash, no Duff, no Izzy = no Guns N’ Roses. Same thing with Velvet Revolver, they lack Axl. I just hope it’s a good first solo album for Axl. No Guns, just a Rose. But I will still give ‘er a spin.

Anonymous | 10/18/2008, 10:06 pm EST

Actually, the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson’s “Smile” is pretty f’ing amazing.

mATTERgOD | 10/18/2008, 10:09 pm EST

Axl Rose is a tool. I enjoyed GN’R despite him. I could never fully express how messed up of a human being he actually is.

In his defense, he does have a good voice. Occasionally, he displayed the ability to write a quality song. But, he will find a way to ruin this as he has everything else in his life. I wish Vince Neil would have had the opportunity to kick his a$$. Anyone who is pretentious enough to hold off a release this long will get what they have coming to them.

Good luck, Axl, you’re going to need it.

Scooby | 10/19/2008, 1:58 am EST

I heard Jimmy Page is available for the 2009 tour

L-P | 10/19/2008, 7:30 am EST

Now if only Kurt Cobain can come up with an album, he’s been in hiding for too long!

Kenny | 10/19/2008, 7:42 am EST

The album will be great, with already epic (among the fans) songs like There Was A Time, Catcher in the Rye, The Blues (or renamed to something else), Madagascar, etc, with probably the best Axl Rose voice we have heard since the beginning of this millennium.

How it will sound live, well that’s something different, but having heard them last years live in Belgium and Germany, they just ROCKED !

wait a minute! | 10/19/2008, 7:52 am EST

Something smells fishy hear. The best buy web site posted a new track list. Same songs but a different order. Also, the info box says it’s coming out November 25th. So it looks like the November 23rd rumor Billboard started was false after all. Also, the label says Interscope Records. I know the band is involved with them, but aren’t they also involved with Universal Music Group? So shouldn’t they be listed to? Also, why did best buy shut down the preorder icon? When is cover art B coming out?!

crackhitler | 10/19/2008, 9:58 am EST

quit your whining about this being an Axl Rose solo album. gnr was all about axl when the other guys pussed out and gave him control of the name. he was always the one pulling the strings, anyway.

nawaf | 10/19/2008, 11:18 am EST

if u want new music buy the cd if u dnt want new music just dont buy the cd – why do ppl keep making a big deal if u buy or dont because its axl and not gnr ,

1987 | 10/19/2008, 1:08 pm EST

G n” R made one good album, and it was 21 years ago.Illusion 1&2 sucked, lets be honest.Overblown, pretentious crap, and thats what you’re going to get here.Go away again, and this time, take Slash and Duff and the mentally challenged Matt Sorum with you,and please,do what Izzy did,and never come back. And as for all those losers who have spent their pathetic lives waiting for this “masterpiece”,sorry to crap in your bandannas, but its going to suck….

Colin | 10/19/2008, 2:39 pm EST

It’s not ‘AXL ROSE’ or ‘GUNS N’ ROSES!’ It’s ‘NEW GUNS N’ ROSES!!!’

killthedindustry | 10/19/2008, 2:44 pm EST

Guts N Rogaine are not getting any of my money.
People need to discouver new bands instead of holding out for an overrated act who had one good record over 20 years ago. Move on people… it will be a gongshow.

Axl30Rose | 10/19/2008, 3:16 pm EST

Some of you people are fucking stupid and dense. Why can’t you people understand that this band is Guns N’ Roses, like it or not. We all fucking now its not the same members as it was in the 90’s. The band now has been together longer than the original members. Everyone says that its the Axl Rose band because there is no Slash and Duff, people, you need to realize that Axl Rose is how Guns N’ Roses got reconized in the first place. There is no other singer in the world that sounds like Axl. So i guess when people say that this is the Axl Rose band because of no Slash, Duff, I fucking never heard any of you peole say that velver revolver is Guns N’ Roses because Slash, Duff and Matt are in it and Axl’s not. Never heard anyone say fuckin velvet revolver is the Slash Band. Another thing, why the fuck are you people reading about Guns N’ Roses and Chinese Democracy when you don’t like them, i know why it because you’s do like the new band and wouldnt read up on it if you didn’t. Get a fuckin life or make up your mind. PS… All the best to Axl and Guns N’ Roses, you guys rock.

Sabio's 25 | 10/19/2008, 3:24 pm EST

Nothing’s for sure right now.. But that’s life, uh?
I just hope this one’s for real.
I don’t see why does it had to be so tortuous for both the band and the fans to get a fucking record out!
I think I’m not going to be disapointed this time around..

CD is coming | 10/19/2008, 3:59 pm EST

Some of you people are ignorant. Why can’t you people understand that this band is new Guns N’ Roses, like it or not. There is no other singer in the world that sounds like Axl. Another thing, why are you people reading about Guns N’ Roses and Chinese Democracy when you don’t like them, i know why it because you’s do like the new band and wouldnt read up on it if you didn’t. Get a life or make up your mind. PS… All the best to Axl and Guns N’ Roses, you guys rock.

Betting Man | 10/19/2008, 5:35 pm EST

I’ve got money on “Chinese Democracy” getting delayed again. This album can never live up to the intense hype and the legacy of Guns N Roses. Axl and the record execs will realize that and postponed the album again.

herman | 10/19/2008, 6:32 pm EST

The album is ok. There are those monumental riffs, what else to expect from Slash, but overall, there are very few good songs on the album.

Jus | 10/19/2008, 6:49 pm EST

You guys are so dumb, groups have been changing line-ups for ever and they are still the same. For myself, Slash is a God, but to be honest, is guitar style isn’t the hardest one around so it isn’t to hard to imitate, but he still is my favorite guitarist by far. Axl is probably the one who gave GNR the personnality that we all know because you can’t forget his boxers and cloths changing during shows, is running around and coarse language. I’ve been waiting for this album for a long time and if it took so much time to come out, it’s gonna be good. And since they’ve put an offical release date this close, they can’t turn back anymore, so I say I’ll be there on November 23 and if you guys think this album will suck, then don’t buy it then…

josh | 10/19/2008, 7:41 pm EST

fuck all u dumbasses the album will rock it going to save music once again all this stupid pathetic crap they call music is so sad guns n roses is back cant wait for the album fuck all the other stupid bands in the world

1987's Mom | 10/19/2008, 9:32 pm EST

To :”1987″ poster: Seriously, I’m guessing that’s the year you were fucking born as well. I miss the days before the internet sometimes, when there weren’t so many like you running their mouths every two seconds about something they know nothing about.

First, the album is already at some Best Buys (the one my roommate works at for instance), so stop bitching that it still won’t come out kiddos. Second, as someone already said, bands have been replacing members since “bands” first formed. Few great bands have lasted long-term without changing members. Most modern bands replace members all the time, but no one notices because no one gives a shit about them? Six people on earth can name the drummer for Fall Out Boy, and they’re all busy cutting themselves right now to bother reading this. I usually count the guy who writes the lyrics, arranges most of the songs, and sings them the key member of the band (doesn’t hurt to be the one who holds all the copyrights either). It’s usually whiny bitches that only play guitar and do nothing else that think they’re the most important member of the band.

Last, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve heard from this album so far, and won’t judge it until it’s actually released on Nov 23rd. I’ve noticed this tendancy for under the age of 22 or so to try to rewrite history, saying this band or this movie or whatever was awful. Well, sincerely, fuck you. Just because you grew up in an era where only classic bands can sell out arenas, where no one wants to pay money for an album, where everyone steals their fucking music, where everyone including critics trash the endless stream of shit that does actually get released, don’t try to shit on music (or whatever it may be) from an era where it was appreciated and loved and still is by anyone who saw it for what it was: an expression of the moment, the art of its time.

I could go shit on “The Great Ghatsby” for having no relevance in modern literature, but all I’d do is make myself look like an ignorant emo piece of shit like all the other Rolling Stone posters (those are aren’t hipster jackasses or burned out hippies that is). Have a nice day, bitches.

bom bom bum | 10/20/2008, 1:07 am EST

a piece of shit (album) its on the way!!!. This band its NOT guns n roses, its AXL with a wig, botox, and 5 or 6 groupies.

Hi Mom,

I know,I know, you sacrificed so much to put me through school, including giving up your own dream of getting that grade 7 diploma,so guess what?I’m getting you spell check for xmas!!It’s going to be great, then all the other kids will be fooled into believing that you could actually read “the great gatsby”.Seriously though, build a fucking time machine, jump in it with all your Winger records, and leave the 21st century alone.

J-ThurmI.C. | 10/20/2008, 1:31 am EST

“Madagascar” and “Better” are by far the best tracks off of this album. Can’t wait until Nov. 23, so we can have the first GREAT rock album in years….

and wait for the job of the rest original memmbers of GNR!!

THE BEST BAND IN THE HISTORY

Original GNR | 10/21/2008, 1:26 am EST

I’m sick and tired of people saying that the new GNR is better than the original. I will give credit where credit is due. AXL can write and sing like no one else. The new line up seem like pretty cool guys and they all form a pretty good band, but this is not GNR. GNR was a colaboration of two great guitarists and a bassist who could lay down tracks together with great ease which came off like magic and a singer who could write songs like a poet. This new version is nothing more than an AXL ROSE dictatorship. This isn’t a band, this is a singer with hired help. This band should be called “My Ego by Axl Rose.” Unfortunately this so called new version can’t even keep all the players together. It like a revolving door. To me, GNR is a group of 5 guys from the streets of LA that by some act of god, found eachother and wrote some kickass music only to blow it all to pieces. Some people might say that the original GNR fans are holding onto the past and need to embrace the new group, to them I say, Axl needs to let go of the past, this is not GNR, I know it, you know it, everyone in the band knows it, the whole world seems to know it, except for Axl. Call it anything other than GNR. He cannot repeat the past. GNR is dead, without Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven, it’s just Axl singing in front of a bunch of guys. I would probably be more inclined to jump on board if the band wasn’t called GNR. I’m sure the album is great and it may even do well, but it will never been a GNR album, it will only be an Axl Rose album. It’s like Paul McCartney getting three other guys together and calling them the Beatles. Guns N Roses was 5 guys, not one, five. Hell Velvet Revolver has more GNR members and more GNR influence in it that the new GNR. It would be nice for all of them, Axl, Slash and Duff to pull their heads out of their collective assess, let by gones be by gones, get back together and ROCK THE PLANET!!!!!

Turgid Waters | 10/21/2008, 11:35 am EST

20 years too late for me to really give much of a damn. I’m surprised people still care passionately about a band that put out 3 albums of new material in 20 f’ing years. The last album of original material, not covers, came out in 1991?!? They beat Boston for slowest working band in the history of the world, and at this time are as relevant. Too little too late.

Turgid Waters | 10/21/2008, 11:39 am EST

In response to "Original GNR" | 10/21/2008, 3:14 pm EST

I agree with much of what you said, but I always have one disagreement with what some call the Original GNR. Yes, indeed, Steven and Izzy were tehe “original” GNR…but I would ALWAYS include Gilby Clarke, Matt Sorum, Dizzy Reed as original Gunners. No, they were not the ORIGINALs…but they still helped record UYI I, Spaghetti Incident, and UYI II…and toured with GNR in the glory days. Please dont exclude these guys!!

Original GNR | 10/21/2008, 11:29 pm EST

Sorry your right, I should have included those guys. When I was thinking Appetite, I was thinking the guys that had the most input. Most people say it was ALL AXL and I was trying to emphasize that the others had a big contribution and that Axl wouldn’t be what he is today without them, cause realistically, what has he done without them…….nothing.

Colin | 10/22/2008, 12:30 am EST

In response to “Original GNR,” what do you mean “what has Axl done without the original members?” Yeah, no album but the new songs trample over Loaded, Slash’s Snakepit and Velvet Revolver!!! Because wow, the whole world tuned into that stuff!!!

All I can say is that New Guns N’ Roses is WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY superior to Velvet Revolver!!!!!

LOUDNESS WAR PLZKKTHNXBAI | 10/22/2008, 10:30 pm EST

Hope there’s some dynamic range on this release :)

Perhaps then it can be the greatest selling album of the 00’s…..

Start a musical revolution!!!!!

Only 31 more sleeps!!How have I made it this long?Oh yeah,it’s cause I DON’T GIVE A FUCK!! about what some fat, washed up,botox faced retard has to say about the state of the world. For christ sakes,he wouldn’t man up when Vince Neill called him out,and wouldn’t even answer when the skinny little junkie offered to dance.Axel, you are a chickenshit loser, scared to go out in public, and you deserve your cracked out army of followers.Hopefully, they’ll be able to collect enough pop bottles to afford your new masterpiece,by my calculations, you’ll need to sell 9 million copies to break even…

Original GNR | 10/23/2008, 1:56 am EST

In response to Colin. In your statement Axl has done what? Oh that’s right, nothing! How do his songs trample over that of Velvet Revolver? He hasn’t released any of them until today. Oh wow some of his new songs leaked onto the internet and he got mad. How about the fans who have been waiting for him to do something for the past 15 years. VR and Slash’s SnakePit didn’t tear up the charts and set the world ablaze but at least these guys were doing something other than being reclusive like Axl. These guys made some decent music over the past years and Axl has done what? Oh that’s right, nothing.

1987 | 10/25/2008, 8:48 pm EST

WOW!!I Just heard the song Chinese Democracy, and guess what?China ISN’T a democracy!Axl’s cracked it,his insight is blinding!I knew he hadn’t just been holed up crying about his receding hairline,he’s been studying WORLD POLITICS!!!Really,he’s wasting his time as a rock star,he should be the secretary general of the United Nations, working to make the world a kinder gentler place. But seriously,it may be the worst comeback song since Britney released Gimme,Gimme.

Grim Repair | 10/26/2008, 10:02 pm EST

Who cares anyways? The band was never that good to start with, they were just better than Huey Lewis and that was their main selling point at the time. Slightly more authentic than Bon Jovi, they nevertheless were just standard industry whores selling Led Zeppelin and Van Halen that had be recreated in a lab by a team of record company promoters…

“How do his songs trample over that of Velvet Revolver?”

Much more contrast, and substance behind them. Just listen to them. Anybody with musical intelect can hear it.

“Axel, you are a chickenshit loser, scared to go out in public, and you deserve your cracked out army of followers.”

Well, wasnt that insightfull?? By the way, he spells his name Axl.

People will never give this album a chance. being the followers they are, they will hate the album, because that is what they have been told over the years… that chinese democracy will suck, no matter how good it really is. People who have spent the last 14 years trashing the album without ever hearing a note will be too proud to admit they are wrong.

NAZ | 11/8/2008, 4:23 am EST

for that idiot bashing on axl and saying how velvet revolver is soo much better well answer this? When did they make timeless songs like paradise city? Or powerballads like November rain or Dont cry?

Better yet explain how Velvet revolver’s drummer was talking shit about their own frontman. These were his exact words: ” as much as I hated Axl I loved the success that followed him, yeah he was an asshole but guns n roses always packed stadiums and I don’t remember velvet revolver ever selling out a football stadium like Axl did”

You can look for that interview on YouTube if u don’t believe me… There are only a few musicians that can claim icon status and Axl Rose is definately one of them

This is the day the music died. Guns N Roses is officially dead. I must once again let all the NEW GNR fans know that this is not GNR. I love Axl and the music is great, but this is not Guns N Roses. If you were there from from day 1, you would understand. Axl, great album, but not GNR. Nough said.

Original GNR | 11/23/2008, 1:53 am EST

Hey Jesse, are you 12. Grow up! I just wish the NEW GNR fans, which you are Jesse, knew what GNR really was. Remember, Axl wrote great lyrics, but the band wrote great music. Case in point, Axl wrote Sweet Child lyrics reclused in a room, while listening to Slash goof around on his guitar, thus making history. His guitar solos are more renound than the lyrics. Case in point.

Mike | 11/27/2008, 8:42 am EST

Am I the only one who’s pissed at this album only being available from Best Buy in the US? Jeez Axl, you’re sooo rock n’ roll! I don’t care if it’s the best album ever made I’ll be damned if I’m going to participate in the further destruction of record stores by buying this from the fucking big blue box or iTunes.

I Love the OLD guns n roses but all those people that like guns n roses watch the movie “some kind of monster” because when gnr and metallica played together metallica’s guitat player needed to get to hospital and the fans went wild and Axl the stuck up brick wouldn’t go out and play!!! so the guitar player could get to hospital

oh yea wuts up axl, good to have you back homie

steve wild | 12/7/2008, 9:37 pm EST

about guns n roses the new band
everyones talking about i love them and they are my favorite band in the whole world now its not about who axl has playing in the band its about the music and how it makes you feel and what you learn from the lyrics and what not
if its not what you thought it was or hoped axl would do then listen
keep listening to the old stuff
and learn to like the new stuff pretty soon it will be old and as classic as the old gnr a good portion of all the great bands in the world have eventuall broke up
and did a renunion tour and cd
so “dont give up hope cause theres
something out there just gotta hold on an believe” oh yeah and remember this is AMERICA everyones
entitled to there own opinion

steve wild | 12/7/2008, 9:45 pm EST

oh yeah one more thing Axl is as human as all of us yeah he’s got millions and is a rock star but doesnt have to release and album
every year maybe he wants to live like the rest of us and do things
and have fun he can sure afford it
so if anyones pissed at axl for waiting so long to get it together
should know that he can do what ever he wants also if you dont understand how hard it is to get a
band together that works then shut up cause it is really hard event if you got money people with money have the same problems that people without money have to an extent
so give axl some slack

steve wild | 12/7/2008, 9:50 pm EST
