A pair of anticipated upcoming albums was pushed back from their fourth-quarter release dates. First, Fall Out Boy deemed Election Day an inappropriate date to release their new album Folie a Deux and thus will release their album over a month later on December 16th. “Six months ago, we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on Election Day, but this is not the election to be cute,” the band said in a statement. Pete Wentz also expressed disappointment that “Chinese Democracy is gonna beat us to release.”
In news that should surprise no one, Neil Young’s perennially-delayed Archives Vol. 1 (1963-1972) has been pushed back yet again, abandoning its supposed autumn 2008 release date for some time in 2009. This project has been delayed so many times that Reprise Records’ website for Archives still says “Coming in 2007″ in the top-left corner of the page. Part of the delay is no doubt due to the indecision whether to release Archives as just Blu-ray DVDs or include a compact disc option. There is some consolation for Young fans, however, as live album Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 1968 will be released November 25th.
