Kanye West feat. Chris Martin, “Homecoming” [Disco Tech Remix]
This is, without a doubt, the closest Chris Martin has ever come to a club. Unless it was one of those clubs where they served those tiny sandwiches, and everybody had to wear a jacket with a shield on it. He probably goes to those all the time.
Lil Wayne & the Roots, “A Milli” [Live]
Q: What’s the difference between Lil Wayne and the Roots? A: One of them made the year’s best rap record. The other one is Lil Wayne.
Esau Mwamwaya, “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” [Vampire Weekend Cover]
Malawian vocalist Esau Mwamwaya nabs the hook from everyone’s favorite VW song and uses it to power a bright, joyous singalong — finally giving legitimacy to all those “Vampire Weekend/Afropop” claims.
Emmy the Great, “Where is My Mind?” [Pixies Cover]
In theory, turning any given Pixies song into coffeeshop folk should be disastrous, but Emmy the Great retains the songs neurosis while transplanting it into sunnier musical environs.
Wu-Tang Clan, “Gravel Pit” [Disco Villains Remix]
Was there ever a Wu-Tang video game? The object could be to get four of them to argue with each other while the other five went to do a show. Anyway, if there was a Wu-Tang video game, this could provide a suitable soundtrack.
