Scars On Broadway have canceled their North American tour after singer/guitarist Daron Malakian decided “his heart wasn’t into touring” with the side project, the band said in a statement. The collaboration between Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan had planned to embark on their tour on October 19th, but the trek, and the duo’s Jimmy Kimmel Live performance on October 14th, have both been canceled with no plans for rescheduling. With the Scars tour off, rumors are already circulating that this move might foreshadow a reunion for System Of A Down, as the band was in hiatus as Malakian and Serj Tankian both pursued extracurricular musical activities.

I bought three tickets for the show in Hollywood, and this guy decides all of a sudden he doesn’t feel like performing for us anymore? We’re the reason he has that choice, and he gives us a vague nonsense excuse with no hint to the future? The man forgets himself. He’ll pay.

Drugs are what boring people use to be interesting. Drugs are what interesting people do when they are bored. And whatever.

Ok you guys got your little side projects and extra curricular activities out of the way. Time to get the System tuned up and ready to kick some fuckin ass once again.

Hard drugs are the essentials for making good music. So if the guy needs to indulge in some low-grade opiates or marijuana to deal out some rocking new tunes, so be it. Drugs make music good; music makes drugs good. Sorry to tread on some volatile water, rockers.

In my humble opinion neither Scars on Broadway nor Serj’s solo album were anywhere near as good as System of a Down. You just can’t top them.

Don’t get me wrong, everyone involved is a fine musician, but they just work best together.

according to various music publications including this one and guitar world, in which Daron was interviewed, its been stated that he is basically a major pot head and doesn’t partake in any hard drugs. Also, he’s a not fan of touring or venturing into public in general.

I hope this doesnt mean the end of SOB!!!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Serji’s SOAD stuff, but considering he Daron wrote everything I really enjoyed hearing him sing as well. I considered SOB to be the evolution of SOAD and Im really upset to hear it’s probably over.

Though if it means a new SOAD album then fuck SOB! LOL

Daron’s a musical genius…It’s a shame he looks like he’s on some combo of crack, heroin, cocaine, PCP, and inhalants.

Hopefully “his heart isn’t into it” translates to “…is going to rehab”.

I’ve long suspected System went on ‘hiatus’ because he’s too messed up.

The guy can’t sing anyway. He ruined SOAD for me when I only wanted to hear Serj and instead I’m hearing his awful, awful vocals.
