• It’s not quite Guitar Hero, but Nine Inch Nails will soon get their own branded version of iPhone music game TapTap Revenge. The game will feature 16 songs by Trent Reznor, including some remixes made especially for the game.
• E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren underwent replacement surgery on both his hips yesterday. Lofgren said “a long, beautiful life on the road that’s included leaping off drum risers and trying to break stage floors with pounding legs” made the surgery necessary.
• With the Red Hot Chili Peppers on a hiatus, bassist Flea has enrolled in the University of Southern California’s music program. Flea hopes to better understand the “math and academics” of music structure.
• A new single by D’Angelo hit iTunes yesterday. “I Found My Smile Again” is a remake of a song originally recorded in 1995 for the Space Jam soundtrack.
