There’s yet another sign that this might finally be the year for Guns n’ Roses’ long-in-the-works Chinese Democracy. Rolling Stone can confirm that the album track “If The World” — a version of which leaked earlier this year — will appear in the upcoming Leonardo DiCaprio/Russell Crowe movie Body of Lies, in theaters October 10th. The track features the guitar work of Gn’R guitarist Robin Finck, as well as Buckethead, who left the band in 2004. The song plays during the closing credits of the movie, but it won’t appear on the soundtrack album. It will be the second official release of a Chinese Democracy track, as “Shackler’s Revenge” is included in the new Rock Band 2 game. A source has told Rolling Stone that Guns n’ Roses has reserved a November 25th date for the possible release of the album, which will be a Best Buy exclusive.

Heard it at the end of the movie and it sounds like Axl rediscovered his voice.

I was never a fan but fast becoming one and I hope to hear more bluesy stuff from Axl and friends.

how the hell can the person responsible for (Axl best frontman ever) be taken seriously? Did you ever go to one of their concerts? Did you not see he was only there for his charisma not his musical or SINGING ability? Anyhoo for those of you that are true G`N`R fans try Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju hounds not my scene but still an original musician or Slash`s snakepit albums or his new velvet revolver band.Anyone that still follows Axl rose either wasn`t a real fan or is just deluded!

Mr. Brownstone | 11/5/2008, 11:28 am EST

Ok Let`s Get Something Straight. New Album Going To Be Good But It Wont Sound Anything Like Old GNR. Slash Had Is Own Sound. I Think Axl Should Of Changed Band Name. HEY AXL STAY AWAY FROM THE PANIO YOUR NOT ELTON JOHN

jack | 10/18/2008, 6:59 am EST

Can’t wait and all that bull but heck what da f.Axle is cool no doubt about that and he sings like a mother f.I don’t know about those braids and what is going to do about that.Later.

Me | 10/11/2008, 1:43 am EST

Its funny to see how hundreds upon hundreds of people have the SAME opinion about axl and his new album its funny to see a group of followers

Brett | 10/4/2008, 8:24 pm EST

The music better be good, otherwise I doubt anyone will care about the album. I stopped caring about it the umpteenth time I heard it was going to be released, no idea why I even decided to read this post… Oh yeah, I’m a consumer whore.

Rob Van Winkle | 10/3/2008, 11:27 pm EST

Yo yo you, dat Slash is da bomb! His shiznit it tight!

running-for-home | 10/3/2008, 1:26 pm EST

Best Record in the ast twenty years of rock history Deekayone???
What about Californication, Yield, Nevermind, Mellencoly and the Infinite Sadness, Weezer, Metallica, Dookie, American Idiot, Ten, Eminem Show, 2001, The Black Album (Jay-Z), Battle of LA, The Bends, OK Computer, Definitely Maybe, What’s The Story (Morning Glory), The Downward Spiral, The Colour And The Shape, Sing The Sorrow, Toxicity, X&Y, among many many other’s which are all better than anything GNR has ever made. Sure, they have legendary its, but who actually listens to GNR B-Sides????? you can take any of those albums I listed above and I could listen to them front to back.

Slush | 10/3/2008, 1:21 pm EST

Why not welcome GNR back. What’s our alternative these days, Fall Out Boy?

Axl Rose | 10/3/2008, 10:51 am EST

Normally I don’t respond to this kind of BS. Listen to the songs on the albums that are coming out the next three years. For the rest of you sorry-ass complainers shut the f..ck up. Ain’t it fun?!

kels | 10/3/2008, 10:09 am EST

come on already!!!!

what the fuck!

i want some new G’N'R!

Anonymous | 10/2/2008, 4:27 pm EST

who cares

Slappy | 10/2/2008, 2:49 pm EST

For the love of Christ Axl, please, please get rid of those silly braids. You look like a flippin’ clown.

jd | 10/2/2008, 8:30 am EST

All I’ve gotta say is whoever does the guitar work on ‘There was a time’ (Buckethead?/Finck?/Bubmble?)i s an amazing guitarist - if it is Buckethead then no wonder Axl will share his Dr Pepper.

Believe it when I see it | 10/2/2008, 7:25 am EST

As someone on here already pointed out. When the movie “end of days” the song “OH MY GOD” was on the sound track. It was a good song but with a different sound. I went to my local Sam Goody and they told me that the release day for Chinese Democracy that they had was in June of that year. Here we are ten years later and it still hasn’t been released. So its like I said. I’ll believe it when I see it.

On a side note, I’m one of those bitter Slash fans that has been sighted. He was the genious in the band. Axl himself said that he was the hardest thing to replace. Personally I’ll buy the album because I’m curious but I am a fan of the original sound and that was gone with Slash.

V | 10/1/2008, 3:06 pm EST

oh yes, we get the joke…
it’s old, unoriginal, and not funny.

we’ll see what mr. rose has in store soon enough…

Barbelith | 10/1/2008, 2:25 pm EST

When will there be Democracy in China? Never. When will there be a new GNR album? Never. Get the joke?

Megatron1 | 10/1/2008, 1:11 pm EST

Man….I really don’t see any positive for Axl by releasing this record, because A) it more than likely won’t live up to massive expectations it built over the past 13-15 years B)will probably get slammed by critics and longtime fans, and C)after over a decade, is this really even relevant anymore….. No matter what Axl is caked up with $, so he ain’t hurtin’ money. The dude clearly loves and feeds off the attention he gets over this mythical album. I hope to god I’m wrong because I love GNR (at the original ganstas’ that were axl, slash, izzy, duff & steven)…….. so here’s hoping i’m wrong

benny | 10/1/2008, 2:26 am EST

Hey RS, quit sitting on your hands and get the exclusive for this album!

The silence is deafening.

C | 9/30/2008, 10:23 pm EST

For all those who think Duff and Slash are apart of Chinese Democracy YOUR WRONG ! sound’s like a bunch of bitter Slash fan’s writing on here. Finck, Fortus, Thal, Stinson, Dizzy, Brain, Pitman are the new era of Guns, GET USED TO IT ! and if you don’t know them now you will in about a month and a half.

Steve | 9/30/2008, 5:18 pm EST

This is going to be a train-wreck of epic proportions. It will be the ‘Ishtar’ of rock albums. I will eat my words if I’m wrong but I’m pretty much certain I’ll be right.

Raulinc | 9/30/2008, 4:56 pm EST

I cant wait for the Chinese Democracy album! It is going to be great! He has a unique original way to write his songs. One of the greatest composers of our time! I hope he releases a double album!

robotic beatz | 9/30/2008, 11:07 am EST

Brian Wilson’s “Smile” album was released 37 years late and was a straight up masterpiece. Maybe chinese democracy will be released, maybe not. Who even knows if Axl rose was the mastermind. either way, it would be great to hear it….frankly, i’m guessing slash was the mastermind

robotic beatz | 9/30/2008, 11:07 am EST

GrayFox82 | 9/30/2008, 9:49 am EST

Rock Band 2 may have gotten “Shacklers Revenge” and this Body of Lies movie may get this new leaked track, but Chinese Demco will not be released. After 15 years aren’t we all seeing a pattern here, or are people really in denial?

Ary | 9/30/2008, 9:40 am EST

I just now that i belive in Axl,he never disappiont me…

tim | 9/30/2008, 12:27 am EST

Chinese Democracy will be a great record, because axl rose is a rock genius.

The Truth Commission | 9/29/2008, 11:28 pm EST

There isn’t going to be any Chinese Democracy. This is just a giant mindfuck engineered by Axl. The tracks are more or less all leaked to the internet and now they’re going to be sold one by one to movie soundtracks.

The album doesn’t exist and Axl will keep his never-ending tour going without ever releasing a proper CD or iTunes download. It’s magnificent the way he’s played a generation of suckers to believe the album exists and that he’s just a troubled perfectionist.

lurose | 9/29/2008, 10:02 pm EST

of course it will never be like a real gnr album…but is axl and i support him…i hope he doesn`t lie to us…

bye!

R n' R | 9/29/2008, 7:18 pm EST

After waiting 15 years for the follow-up to be released, I might just wait 15 years to buy it.

joe | 9/29/2008, 4:29 pm EST

i can;t wait for this to be released to everyone can see rose has been wasting his time. chineese democracy is gona SUCK.

Ali | 9/29/2008, 1:46 pm EST

When was “Oh My God” ever slated to be on the album? How is that even possible when it was released the same month that the name of the record, Chinese Democracy, was announced? “Oh My God” was written for the movie End of Days.

Ali

Master Bates | 9/29/2008, 1:32 pm EST

This doesn’t mean anything. No, “Oh My God” is not slated to be on Chinese Democracy but at one point it was. And it was released via a crappy movie then too (End of Days). At that time, it was also billed as a new song “from the upcoming GnR album Chinese Democracy.” Axl…thanks for turning a legendary band into a joke.

Anonymous | 9/29/2008, 1:11 pm EST

It’s taken far longer for Axl to produce this one album than it took The Beatles to produce their entire catalog.

Hope the wait is worth it.

Rob | 9/29/2008, 12:18 pm EST

PLEASE AXL………this is not a G-N-R album but a solo album with some hired guns.
The reason it is taking forever is because you are so insecure in releasing songs by a G-N-R cover band with you ate the vocals.
What a waste of talent Axl is. Obviously is running out of $$$. Fans should expect this to be his last album or expect another one when he is over 60.

minus55 | 9/29/2008, 12:05 pm EST

Who is that singing on the track?

thebrutaltimes | 9/29/2008, 11:28 am EST

Axl Rose Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chinese Democracy songs amazing!!!

Drix° | 9/29/2008, 5:26 am EST

Axl is a fucking idiot.
Guns ‘n’Roses is forever slash,duff,izzy and adler….
Chinese democrasy is not a Guns ‘n’ Roses Album, best rock record maybe… but i don’t think.
Axl should rename his band in “Egos’n'Axl”

Deekayone | 9/29/2008, 2:25 am EST

Slash is not on CD.
Duff is not on CD.
Thank God for not having this stupid Matt Sorum on CD.
Chinese Democracy Rocks a lot.
Best Record in the last 20 years of Rock history and we didn’t even hear the full stuff.
So I’m happy.
I’ts time to put this record out.

hey you | 9/28/2008, 8:05 pm EST

shaklers revenge sucks

black bottom | 9/28/2008, 7:56 pm EST

I don’t know if that is Slash on guitar but I can definitely tell Duff’s playing on bass. Way to go, Axl!

Dale | 9/28/2008, 6:44 am EST

Slash ISNT in GnR.
Slash ISNT on these leaks.

Slash on the leaks:
It’s a record that the original GUNS N’ ROSES could never possibly make. And at the same time it just shows you how brilliant Axl is. So it was a relief for me to actually hear it.

correction | 9/28/2008, 1:26 am EST

Over the years it has become clear that “Oh My God” will not be part of the album

musicismyreligion | 9/28/2008, 1:11 am EST

this is the third official release from this record. Don’t forget oh my god from the end of days sound track.

musicismyreligion | 9/28/2008, 12:59 am EST

this is actually the third official release from this record. Remember Oh my God form the end of days soundtrack. Rollingstone never gets the facts straight.

Fuddy Duddy | 9/27/2008, 9:57 pm EST

I heard some other unrealesed stuff from chinese democracy, and it is light years ahead of what anyone is doing today great stuff

Del James | 9/27/2008, 8:07 pm EST

I can not confirm nor deny that the guitar recordings on Chinese Democracy is that of Slash.

Now I have to go run Axl’s bath water!!!

Anonymous | 9/27/2008, 3:57 pm EST

go slash!

Axl best frontman ever. | 9/27/2008, 3:04 pm EST

Axl is the best rock frontman ever.
Axl’s comeback at 2002(?) MTV Music Awards was one of the my life’s high lights. I was there, preparing to leave, as I listening “Do you know where you are?”.
Axl fucking rocks.

Steven | 9/27/2008, 3:03 pm EST

Those recordings are slash, maybe new, maybe from before he left. Those solos and riffs are all Slash on Chinese Democracy.

Anonymous | 9/27/2008, 2:04 pm EST

Sorry. What I meant to say is that Slash shot his load with GNR. He limpdicked his way through Velvet Revolver. He might be able to play these new songs, but either way they rock without him. My fault.

Deekayone | 9/27/2008, 1:20 pm EST

Oh my gosh.
Slash is not on Chinese democracy.

Joe | 9/27/2008, 12:20 pm EST

If you want Slash, go check out one good album and one mediocre album from Velvet Revolver. Between the two albums, you’ll get 5 good songs. I’ve already heard 6 really good songs off of demos from Chinese Democracy. I have a joke though. When Axl first started this album, it was called Chinese Feudal System. (rimshot)

paolo | 9/27/2008, 12:02 pm EST

slash is not back and axl would never take him back!
that ending solo on twat is ALL buckethead, every freakin note.
mitch get your head out of your ass and accept the fact that slash is no where near axl and didnt have any work done on these songs.

hogleg | 9/27/2008, 11:21 am EST

I love Slash. Slash, Slash, Slash, down in my belly.

Anonymous | 9/27/2008, 11:21 am EST

SLASH IS THE BEST

FUCK FAKEGNR

Mitch | 9/27/2008, 11:18 am EST

Dude, I know Slash when I hear Slash and that is Slash on those Chinese Democracy Songs!

ugh | 9/27/2008, 11:01 am EST

all i can say is that you people are retarded. A) you know it’s not slash. B) joking about it being slash is not funny, it’s pretty lame. you aren’t impressing anyone with your humor

Chica | 9/27/2008, 10:30 am EST

I have been shaking my booty to that hot track, If Da World Yo! Axl and Slash make me Hot.

Obama | 9/27/2008, 9:51 am EST

Slash has never sounded this good, Good Job Axl by bring your Solider Home!

DeadHorse | 9/27/2008, 9:11 am EST

I love Slash on those Chinese Democracy Leaks!- Just kidding

Mike | 9/27/2008, 8:29 am EST

This songs are awesome, I wish they were in better quality. Slash did a better job on those solo’s than what Buckethead could do. Welcome Back Slash! Axl you finally did something right!

Sarah Palin | 9/27/2008, 4:13 am EST

Even my should-have-been-aborted baby can see that this new lineup rocks.

Bring on Chinese Democracy.

mullethead | 9/27/2008, 12:42 am EST

The guitars are all by Buckethead, Robin Finck, Richard Fortus and Ron Thal. Slash wishes he could play that well in this day and age but can’t even come close

The last solo in There Was A Time is Buckethead who can play circles around Slash on the guitar

Mitch | 9/27/2008, 12:20 am EST

Bryan, That is clearly Slash playing on those Guns N’ Roses songs. No one of the replacements (wannabes) could ever play that good.

Hector | 9/27/2008, 12:13 am EST

holy shit im so stupid. i actually thought that was slash!! i was loving better. awesome awesome solo. oh fuck this band, bring back slash!! wait nvm, this band doesnt need slash, that fucker lost his talent.

Ziggy | 9/27/2008, 12:07 am EST

I listened to There Was A Time!!! OMG!!! SLASH WENT OLD SCHOOL SOLO in the middle, and finished WITH A MIND BENDING SOLO!

Bryan | 9/27/2008, 12:00 am EST

Slash is not in GNR. All those solos and guitar parts you all suddenly enjoy are all played by his replacements (Buckethead, Robin Fink, Richard Fortus, and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal).

C | 9/26/2008, 11:46 pm EST

Who care’s about this band ? ha why are you reading the article if you don’t care ? Instead of putting out commerical garbage GnR is putting out music that has a meaning and integrity of not selling out. Its too bad Slash ain’t in the band but some people say he’s awesome on the track’s lol their just trying to get under the skin of some fan’s because they can’t handle the fact’s that Slash left and put out a medicore 2 albums while Axl is really blowing velvet revolver outta the water with these new songs.

Meghan Mccain | 9/26/2008, 11:41 pm EST

those solos r from robin and bucket omg ppl slash

Ziggy | 9/26/2008, 11:36 pm EST

Great, I want to hear these new Slash Solos! Thats why Chinese Democracy was delayed. Axl needed Slash to write some good stuff! I am going to hunt some of this stuff down.

Mitch | 9/26/2008, 11:14 pm EST

Axl sounds awesome! Welcome Back Slash!!! Your solo on the song “There was a Time” is the best one you have ever written!!! Even though the cell phone recording of it was bad, you could tell you owned those clowns who Axl tried to replace you with!!!

Chinese Democracy Starts Now!!!

iggy stooge | 9/26/2008, 10:10 pm EST

Who really cares about this band.. or what’s is now left of it??

All hail the overdue release of Multiple Chins Dumocracy by

GUTS and ROGAINE…..

They must be paying Tommy Stinson a lot of cash to be associated with this pathetic gongshow…

C | 9/26/2008, 10:07 pm EST

I think they know its not Slash their just being smart asses. Funny though these new Guns N’ Roses tracks blow VR outta of the water.

Anonymous | 9/26/2008, 9:55 pm EST

OMG…these guys are dumb!
Slash is no where to be heard on any of these tracks.

LTD | 9/26/2008, 8:36 pm EST

Slash+Axl are like Keith and Mick!
They cant get anything done without the other.
Nice to see they decided to unite:)

Hose-A | 9/26/2008, 7:11 pm EST

I know a hot chick that farts and does dishes. Every hot chick farts. Even poops.

Axl Foley | 9/26/2008, 7:03 pm EST

GnR sucks anyways, who cares? They’ve been trying to recreate the three hits they had off of Appetite for Destruction for 20 years. Axl Rose is an egomaniacal jackass. Go listen to the new Metallica album.

Kang | 9/26/2008, 5:56 pm EST

This CD is a myth, you have a better chance of finding a hot chic who farts and does dishes than this thing actually seeing the light.

W. Axl Rose | 9/26/2008, 5:51 pm EST

about time. cant wait to havethe final versions

Nick | 9/26/2008, 5:31 pm EST
