
Despite being one of the biggest bands on the planet, James Hetfield and Metallica learned a lesson in humility when they opened for the Rolling Stones in 2005. “The fact that we were in a trailer, not even in the backstage area, was somewhat humbling,” Hetfield says. “I remember going to catering. We were going on early. We needed to eat before everyone else. I opened up the shepherd’s pie, and someone said, ‘Hey, don’t touch that.
