“Rush Hashanah” Welcomes Jewish New Year on VH1 Classic

9/12/08, 10:49 am EST

In a victory for both Canadian prog rock and awesomely clever puns, VH1 Classic will ring in Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) with “Rush Hashanah”. The channel will air 24 hours of Rush on September 29th. The marathon will feature two of the band’s concert films, Rush In Rio and R30, plus music videos from the band’s past and present. “Rush Hashanah” isn’t all just pun and games, however: singer/bassist Geddy Lee, born Gary Weinrib, is the son of two Holocaust survivors. Lee’s parents actually met when they were interred at a labor camp in Poland and ultimately got married after they were liberated. So celebrate Rush Hashanah this year with Geddy and the gang on VH1 Classic.

let’s not forget the all-Jew Beastie Boys whose lyrics to attack White people got them a ton of money.

MTV under Sumner Restone[Jew whose real name is Murray Rothstein] has got all kids thinking that degenerating yourself with sex and body piercings will make you closer to the Jew god, Satan

I’ve been a RUSH fan since 1976 and make a point to see these guys whenever they come around. Geddy Lee is absolutely one of the fiercest bass players ever to touch Earth. Alex Lifeson’s guitar licks are a blur and Neil Peart is a show all by himself.

My favorite RUSH album is probably the one that sold the least copies: HEMISPHERES. I still get goosebumps listening to it.

Fledgling rock musicians need to study RUSH. They are a hundred years old but still out there making it count. (But then I’m old too!) My musical tastes lean toward Alternative rock but make no mistake, I’ll be a RUSH fan till I draw my last breath.

Rock on,

PS - @ Chuck…It was only a matter of time! :D

HOPEFULLY we will see more of RUSH on TV. They deserve far more credit than I think they receive. These 3 guys can PLAY…and everyone should see more RUSH. PROPS TO ALEX, GETTY & NEIL!

MaxF | 9/27/2008, 9:10 pm EST

Shana Tova Geddy! shame it’ll be hard for people to watch it on yom tov…..

and yeah, please, please please play in israel!

Lame Grammar Corrector | 9/26/2008, 2:23 pm EST

I’m all for everlasting love, but I think it would have been a bit difficult for Lee’s parents to get married after being “interred” in a concentration camp, which would imply they didn’t make it out. I believe you mean “interned.”

The Birdman | 9/23/2008, 3:36 pm EST

Rush is #1 and always will be! Sounds like I’ll be getting absolutely nothing done on the 29th! WOO HOO!!

Herschel Rabinowitz | 9/22/2008, 12:22 am EST

Oy vey, it’s about time Geddy Lee was recognized for his Jewdom…I mean, crap on a cracker, man - that dude’s schnozz makes him look like freakin’ Gonzo from the Muppets.

Mongo-2112 | 9/14/2008, 12:21 am EST

About time this group gets the respect it needs. time. How did they ever be so popular with little air play? Can you imagine what will happen when kids who play Rock Band/Guitar Hero will think after watching 24 hours? Cant wait! Bring it on Boyz!

Geddy Gibson | 9/13/2008, 9:07 am EST

I find this to be a pretty strange excuse for a Rush marathon, but I’ll take all the Rush I can get.

AGef | 9/13/2008, 7:59 am EST

Why Don’t you come and play in israel ????

geddy400 | 9/13/2008, 12:51 am EST

I am SO happy that RUSH fans are finally getting to see more Rush coverage from Rolling Stone, Cobert, & VH1 Classic. The fans definitely appreciate this and have been waiting for this forever! Maybe the next step is -The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame…??!!

Selina | 9/12/2008, 1:48 pm EST

Oh my husband is going to want to take off of work to watch this marathon!

Chuck | 9/12/2008, 12:31 pm EST

Two different non-mocking news articles on Rush in the same year? Is this a Rush fan site now, or did Rolling Stone realize how awesome “2112″?

Either way, I’m glad they’re finally getting their long overdue respect.

Jewey Jewman | 9/12/2008, 11:06 am EST

Yes, I’ll be watching Rush for Rush Hashanah and in addition I’ll also be smoking me some hash too!
