But I am a souple of years older that Nikki Sixx and I have siblings and cousin who are older all the way up into their 70’s. So take it from someone older and from the real Rock and Roll age, the 50’s, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brother are a lot closer to the Orginal Rock and roll thatn Nikki Sixx ever dream of being. Real Rock and Roll Bands keep fans on the edge of their seats waiting to see if the entire gig will crumble in front of their eyes or if a moment of brilliance will emerge. They have thier songs written for them. If you’re someone who look at this from sales, notice most places have a tons of thier products and can’t sell. Go look at how many albums are left on the shelves. No one’s BUYING it. It is just publizied when it shouldn’t be. Record sales are counted by how many the store needs to buy, not how much the people buy. That’s why they’re on the top of the charts when it’s all a lie.

This is why Sixx is saying something, because NO ONE ELSE WILL. No matter who this would have come from, you know they would be right.

Nikki Sixx is the president of his own record company and owns all his masters, the mastermind of hair metal and Motley Crue(yes, anyone who came after them ripped them off, THAT is when hair metal got stupid because it became pop), has a #2 recommended song with his band SIXX:AM on the radio along with Seether, is completely sober, has co-written a TON of songs with other bands, produces, writes, and for fucks sakes, has inspired so many people that bands like Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Bon Jovi..etc wouldn’t have ever came to be if it wasn’t for Motley Crue. The list goes on.

They don’t get payed a certain sum to go on tour, they don’t need to. They can sit on thier asses the rest of thier lives, but they go out cause they love the road and put on a better show they ever have. I’ve seen a ton of bands new and old, and they are one of the best out there now and the most sincere and I don’t know how many times I almost got knocked out in the pit of a show, and they were the only band who cared about thier fans down there and helped with security. They write thier own songs and play damn well.

Nikki Sixx and Motley Crue, is one of the few who have made it and do it. If they weren’t this, which I have experienced with bands and have been devestated, I wouldn’t be standing up for them.

Motley Crue might be fifteen years past their prime, but Nikki’s forgotten more than the three Jonases and Miley Cyrus combined know about rock ‘n’ roll. Doesn’t make a damn to me, since I don’t listen to this baby-food music anyway. Let the kids have it. If you really want to hear Rock & Roll, listen to Jerry Lee Lewis’ Live at Star Club, Hamburg album or cd. This is true rock & roll. Probably one of the best live performances of all time. He wasn’t called the killer for nothing. Jerry Lee was ahead of his time. He was punk way before there was a genre of the same name. Trashing pianos…you can’t get any better than that.

Ok, I’m a married 35 year old with 3 kids. I loved Motley Crue in the late 80’s early 90’s. I also loved and worshipped Def Leopard, Twisted Sister, Ozzy, Rat… “Back in my day” these groups were considered Hard-Rock (remember Head Banger’s Ball?), not Rock-n-Roll. Those two genres are not the same. Michael Jackson was considered Pop and Dires Strait was Rock-n-Roll. These are just examples to show you how the music, lyrics, presentation differ. I would (and do) consider Jonas Brothers more Rock-n-Roll because of the way the music (not lyrics) is presented. Some of their songs are on the “popish” side, but that is not their genre. I have attended one of their concerts and let me tell you, I could not hear for 2 days (literally). The performance itself was a TRUE rock show, out of this world! Miley however, is pure pop, although she does have a song here and there with rock tendencies, but yes, her genre is pop. There is nothing wrong with that either. I definitly prefer JB, but she is talented. The old geezers need to lighten up and accept the fact that, yes, we are getting old. It’s ok though. I held my own against the “hot” girls at the Jonas Brothers concert, and showed them how a real woman can get down

Wel, Sixx is right, you should be able to determine what “rock” is from past generations. Jonas’ are bubblegum “pop” at the best. There was a time when rock was guitar, even pumpin’ piano driven tunes with an awesome drum/bass for a solid rhythm section behind it all. Now? That’s mostly gone. There’s a few bands still trying to keep doing it right but the Jonas brothers? Come on, I’m sure you all will be right on board with the New Kids On The Block on their comeback also. Think of her as someone who is, at heart, a rocker, but who has been hired by Disney to do Pop when she was 11 years old. You’ll see. At any rate, I think it’s fair to say she Rocks the charts as she has 30 entries on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, the most of ANY female artist! Any!
Not a big Jonas Brothers fan, but some of their mucic is definitely Power Pop, like the Beatles, and some of it sounds a lot like Rock. It’s just that they mix it up a lot with Pop, too. And, if you’e keeping track, don’t the JB’s have the Guiness world record for the most singles to reach the U.S. top 20 of any group?
