• After the experiment caused her sales to plummet, Estelle’s Shine and hit single “American Boy” are back on iTunes. “American Boy” is up at #21 on the iTunes song chart.
• Elbow’s The Seldom Seen Kid pulled an upset victory to win this year’s Mercury Prize, beating out much favored albums by Burial, Radiohead and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss. “It’s literally the best thing that’s ever happened to us,” singer Guy Garvey said.
• Sunday’s VMAs had a monster year in the ratings, becoming the highest-rated cable telecast for the key 18-34 demographic this year. Viewership was up 15% from last year’s show.
