Creatively and even lyrically, Wayne definitely has 50 beat. After “Get Rich” 50 has really done nothing that interesting or creative. He’s a hell of a business man, but definitely not one of the top tier rappers. In sales he is, but as far as talent, no.

Lil Wayne actually brings personality not only to his music but to Hip-Hop. He may be spastic, and at times vulgar, but there’s something about him that you have to like and respect. He isn’t one of the best lyricist, even though I think he could if he put a lot more focus into it, I’ve seen flashes that he could. But he still needs some work.

So, if you are looking for the best rappers, which I believe have the all-around package (lyricism, creativity and swagger), Jay-Z, Naz, Mr. West, Andre 3000, T.I. (he actually does have something to say in his lyrics if you actually listen), Eminem, Common, Ludacris, Game, Ghostface, GZA, Ice Cube amongst a couple of others that are slipping my mind now, are by far the best. Of course you have Biggie, Tupac, Rakim, Run-DMC, LL, Snoop, Bun-B will always be at the top without question Lupe, Wayne, Juelz still have ways to go, but they are definitely going to be up there one day.

In the mainstream rap is focused on superficiality (tho shall not bear falls idols) aspiring to big cars and gold chains and scoring pussy. These things are held up as ideals. I believe that the more we focus on items or scoring pussy or making money and the less we focus on bettering our lives, the easier it becomes to break our connection to true creativity.

Rap has had some of the truest modern art of our time but the genre is permeated with insincerity.
