Rage Against the Machine Concert Ends in Protest, Arrests

9/4/08, 10:49 am EST

Much like the aftermath of Rage Against the Machine’s fiery attempted concert outside the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, fans and police scuffled following the band’s proper concert at Minneapolis’ Target Center last night, with 102 people being arrested. While 87 people were tagged and released, 15 fans were booked on charges. As fans exited the venue last night, the crowd immediately began to disperse, but about 250 concertgoers hit the streets with chants of Rage choruses like “Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me.” The resilient masses then started marching up and down 1st Avenue, causing the riot-geared police on foot, horseback and bicycles to congregate as well. The police pushed the developing riot back to Seventh Street, with a couple dozen fans exiting the scene in the process. It was there that the police managed to vanquish the protest, thanks in part to a little pepper spray. In all, it took two city buses to haul the protestors to jail. It’s been a wild week for the Twin Cities thanks to the RNC. On Monday, the first day of the convention, the city faced its biggest protest, resulting in even more violence and property damage than even Rage Against the Machine fans could deliver.

The music of RATM wakes up people and let them realize the sad truth. The sad truth that the world isn’t perfect and we need to do something about it. Fuck the goernement! What have they done for us? They take our hard earn money and put it on “tax”. Where do our axes go? Politicians pockets the answer!

Your right Chris. People need to wake up and stop whining about us that actually let them know that everything isn’t perfect we need people like this to protest because we can always try to make our country better.

Dictionary definition of facism:
“forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism.”

Using pepper spray on peaceful protesters, that sounds like fascism to me.

As it should have! I would have been surprised if it didn’t. if I was there I would have walked off moving like David Elsewhere (motorola . com(slash)e8 if you wanna see what that looks like)

Love the music, but my lord how far off base can you be? How long will this pissed off teenager thing go on with them. They want to protest and oppressive, fascist and unjust government?…. in America?… Good thing that attention isn’t geared towards anywhere else in the world. Places that actually are under fascist rule. It’s absurd.
