Grateful Dead to Rock for Obama Again? Pennsylvania Gig Reportedly in the Works

Hoping to win votes for Obama in perennial swing state Pennsylvania, the surviving members of the Grateful Dead will reportedly stage a concert in the Keystone State on October 13th. No city has been named for the event, but the frontrunners appear to be Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. If the show does go on, it would mark the second Deadheads for Obama concert, as the reunited Dead previously played a San Francisco benefit concert in February (sans drummer Bill Kreutzmann). Bassist Phil Lesh first got involved with Obama’s campaign when his son worked as a volunteer for the Democratic presidential candidate. According to Relix, “sources confirm” a full Dead tour in the Spring of ‘09, but there has been no official announcement or confirmation of that report.

The Dead may well put Obama over the top in a close race. But I suspect one of these guys is going to shoot thereselves in the foot and lose the race . We can only hope its Mc Cain.

Deadheads for Obama is great, but don’t forget the younger voters. We may need less Dead, more Kanye!

Kanye West is a not talent loser!

It’ll be October 13 at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, PA.
Warren Haynes and Jeff Chimenti will join the 4 surviving Dead
members. The Allman Bros and another yet-to-be-named band will also be
on the bill.

It’s a shame, my heroes, especially Phil, support this guy. I don’t have the bank accounts they do, so when Obama rolls out his ‘tax everything we can to pay for our bloated government’ plan, I get screwed. I make little money as it is, so my 401K will be gone when the capital gains taxes go through the roof. Maybe Phil could give me some of his money, kinda like the ‘He’s got more money than me, so he should give me some’ windfall profit tax.

yo yo ma, you’re falling for the GOP hook line and sinker. If you are making less than $200,000 a year then the Dems aren’t going to raise your taxes. But, yes, the people in Phil Lesh, John McCain and Kanye West’s tax brackets will end up paying more. We’ve gotta get out of this deficit somehow!

Actually, fydo, I’m independent, which means I don’t need the government to manage my checkbook.

People that make over $250K tend to send their kids to private schools.

People that make over $250K tend to buy houses within their means.

In other words, they are LESS of a tax burden. But King Obama wants to steal from the rich and give to the unmotivated. That’s called communism.

Also, people who make over $250K a year are the same people who sign my paycheck every week.

It is you my friend who have fallen, for another emotionally charged, factless Obama speech.

Well of course anyone who is concerned about the environment, education and life on this Planet should mobilize the vote for Obama. Thank you Grateful Dead – now let’s see more bands do the same!!
