Coldplay have figured out what to do with the leftovers from their Viva La Vida sessions: Chris Martin says they’ll release a new EP titled either Prospects March or Prospects Songs or “something like that” on December 26th. Talking on the BBC’s 6 Music to host Steve Lamacq and R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, Martin was responding to rumors that the band’s sessions with Viva producer Brian Eno resulted in enough material for two albums. Martin says the EP will host the leftover songs, while Coldplay also hope to release an album of brand-new material by the end of 2009. “We’re gonna have another record ready by November 2009 to end the decade,” Martin said. As for the EP, Stipe indicated he preferred Prospects March; the disc is expected to house the song “Luna,” Coldplay’s collaboration with Kylie Minogue.

WOW!!! Its funny to see just how people come to hate others for their fame and talent. Coldplay is brilliant. I believe they call it uuummmm ENVY? Maybe its time people learn to appreciate what good music is and drop the hatred!

it`s really cool, i mean coldplay is one of the more important bands of the world, unleast form me! and is really good for them to take out so many work they have! i mean 2 CD’s in one year … that’s amazing!!
and about the ment of “stupid coldplay and fans” why don’t you go to another part to criticate another band… what they’ve done to you? NOTHING! so… SHUT UP!
Back in coldplay… i hope that with this 3 new albun in 2 years they can go in a tour!! it would be really cool! hope they can go to chile!!!

yeah, but leave it to RS to give ryan adams’s epic work (love is hell, cold roses, jacksonville, 29)shitty reviws, i know it’s aabout what sells, but it would be nice if one day Ryan and the cardinals could be on the cover. they makes music well played, well written and ryan is far more interesting than the entire coldplay band.

Maybe they see themselves as a band of the first decade of the 2000’s and figure their time at the top is coming to an end at the turn and fade out of the decade. Who knows. If they’re going to issue multiple albums within a fairly small time frame, they’d better be as creative as RYAN ADAMS with the music. I kinda like their new album, but amnot exactly thrilled over it. The second and third Coldplay albums were the best; their debut was good.

This has got to stop. Is this band really that big-headed, and if they are, off what?

1 good, 1 great and 2 mediocre records?

As a fan of this band, they need to take a minute off and figure out how to remake AROBTTH or Parachutes wihtout soundng like they’re ripping themselves off cause no one who buys more than 3 cd’s a year is having either of the last two albums.

Here’s to the new Oasis LP and the 3 new tunes that are already changing up the template for British rock n roll.

I’ll pay them money to quit making music.

If you want a good alternative to Coldplay, try Vic Kingsley’s “These Frequencies”
You’ll be surprised how good this cd is

yes, they need to go back to simple…forget experimenting and expectations..
they became too huge…
i think u2 went through this point..with experimenting..
hopefully coldplay will learn the same lesson u2 did in the 80s.
keep it simple and from the heart.

To be honest, I found COldplay’s latest be be brillant in spots, and over done in others. Too much was often focused on experimenting instead of song quality. I am all for pushing yourself, but experimenting at the cost of crafting better songs is always a tragedy. Station to Station would be my perfect example of an artist doing both equally. The title track is ten brillant minutes and followed by a 3 and ahalf minute single. Bowie’s own Eno albums are the template by which an artist should measure any experimental album they put out. Having said all this, if they had great songs that would justify and E.P., why then did they not drop a few of the lesser offerings from Viva la Vida and just make a really strong album instead of a hit or miss album like they did? With just a few more strong tracks replacing a few week ones they could have raised their four star album to probably a five. Instead I have to contemplate what if.

Coldplay actually blew their load with A Rush of Blood to the Head, a truly epic album that reached very far and almost got there. X+Y and Viva la Vida are almost carbon copies of each other. All of this wont matter when U2’s No Line on the Horizon comes out. Then the Coldplay lads will receive their next lesson.

i almost pissed myself laughing when i read the liner notes to Viva La Vida (”recorded in a bakery, a magic shop, a nunnery, etc…..”)…..but after this post i’m officially done ripping on Coldplay. They know how second-rate they are - and in the end, that is sufficient. The fact of the matter is, they blew their load when they released Parachutes. Pack it up, boys…..
