Comment of the Week: The Final Word on AC/DC’s New Single

8/29/08, 3:29 pm EST

The premiere of
AC/DC’s new single “Rock and Roll Train” caused quite a stir on Rock Daily, leading to a big debate about whether Australia’s favorite sons sounded fresh and vibrant or if they were just going back to the well. But reader Felipe has the last word on all things AC/DC: “AC/DC is like
The Ramones. You don’t expect them to play folk, you want them to play old AC/DC style rock and roll, and this song is a good example of that.”

We need AC/DC to save us from all that StaindHinderNickelCreed crap that dominates rock these days. Even their worst song is better than Three Doors Down’s best song.

Nobody misses how great the Ramones were at writing songs. AC/DC has put out quite a body of work as well. Both bands belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Hall of Fame, if you know what I mean. But they both have limitations, and I think that is what Felipe was referring to.

Sorry Felipe, the only band like the Ramones were the Ramones.

What everyone misses with them is how brilliant they were at writing great songs.

I could name all the great songs that AC/DC on my ten fingers.

The Ramones produced 20 albums of original music.

No one, not even the Beatles, were that prolific.
