If a new Guns N’ Roses song and a massive track list wasn’t enough to lure you over to Rock Band 2, the game also plans on rolling out a ton of playable full album downloads in the months following the game’s release in September. Among the albums reportedly getting the video game treatment are the Foo FightersThe Colour and the Shape, Red Hot Chili PeppersBlood Sugar Sex Magik and Jane Addiction’s Nothing’s Shocking. MTV Games opted to add more full albums this time around after the first installment of Rock Band found post-release success after making Judas Priest’s Screaming For Vengeance and PixiesDoolittle after for download. “We’re surprised by how many people opted to get full albums,” said MTV Senior Vice President Paul Degooyer. “Talk about something that’s been lost and forgotten.” The battle of the music video games is expected to reach fever pitch within the next few months, as both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour hit stores this fall.

Hey Dick Hurts, Are you saying MTV has nothing to do with music? This is the first Im hearing about this. Noone has ever said anything about MTV having nothing to do with music. I also heard that water gets you wet, is that just a rumor?

Dick Hurts | 8/29/2008, 10:17 pm EST

What the fuck does MTV know about music anymore?
All they do is hire unknown college jerkoffs and tape their lives and call it a show. The problem is, too many brainless morons watch their crap because they lead meaningless, trite lives.
A far cry from the MTV or the 80’s.

Well all of us would have like Stadium Arcadium too Biggest Boss, but it’s a double album and I doubt MTV/Rock Band would take the time to put it out.

The Biggest Boss | 8/28/2008, 7:24 pm EST

I think it’s great that they have decided to have the Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but I would rather have Stadium Arcadium insted.

? Everything has shifted toward individual songs/singles (get songs for $.99,etc) - full-on albums have been lost in the shuffle of that. I think Mr. DeGooyer hit it on the head.

The Graveyard | 8/28/2008, 3:40 pm EST

Pfft, is anyone actually surprised an MTV exec has no clue what people actually want?
