The once scarily prolific Ryan Adams hasn’t put an album out in a while, but that didn’t stop him and his band the Cardinals from hitting the road with Oasis or from presenting a stirring set in Vancouver’s huge GM Place. Adams stuck mostly to songs from 2005’s Cold Roses and points forward, including a handful of new tunes that resulted in lengthy jams with his air-tight band. Liam Gallagher watched “Everybody Knows” and “Off Broadway” from the side of the stage and Adams mentioned that coming up after him was “one of the best bands in the world.” The best? Fellow Mancunians the Smiths, he said. “They must put something in the water there,” he said, before exiting on “Easy Plateau.”

Oasis took the stage with their trademark swagger, blurring the line between cockiness and contempt. The band dropped in a healthy dose of Definitely Maybe in between the more recent (but less infectious) singles like “Songbird” and “Lyla.” When the hit list arrived (with the buzzsaw that is “Morning Glory”), Noel taunted the audience with, “That was what you wanted, right?” For the remainder, they balanced old sing-alongs with new tracks from the upcoming Dig Out Your Soul, which were hungrily absorbed if not totally accepted. After spitting “Wonderwall,” Noel cautioned the next was their last (he lied; they returned with “Champagne Supernova” and “I Am the Walrus”). When the crowd booed Oasis’ departure, Liam snarled, “Don’t you fucking boo” as he exited with the same swagger.

The writer kind of makes it seem like they were booed at the end of the show but that’s not true. Liam announced it was their last song and the crowd booed because they wanted more so he said something like “Don’t you fucking boo. You all know how it goes, we go off stage, fuck around for 2 minutes, then come back on and play some more.” It was pretty funny.
I was there and it was an amazing show, the crowd was insane for Oasis, not really digging The Cardinals though.

yeah if you don’t like Oasis maybe you “need a little time to wake up”

U2>Oasis>Nirvana

And the GagBros know it. Still an awesome band though.

Finally a great band goes back on tour. This music environment definitely (maybe) needs a shot of adrenaline and distortion. Welcome back Oasis!!!

Joe, someone should let you in on a little secret, U2 is a really sappy pop band that got lucky with the time period they came out.

Oasis has been underated for the past 5 or 6 years. They aren’t the greatest playing right now (Black Crowes or My Morning Jacket take that mantle), but they play RnR as it should be played, not as your little sister wants it played, like U2

Ryan Adams is a GOD.

I’ve got a beautiful feeling that this album is finally going to be the one that lives up to the hype. Finally the best album since DM or WTSMG. Every album they’ve put out since has had that early over-hyped vibe but this one appears to be gaining steam. It’s going to be the Dark Knight of the music industry. You just wait and see my friends. Bring on October baby!

I was at both the Seattle and Vancouver shows and they were amazing!

Can’t wait for the new cd to hit stores in early October.

Ha: Yeah, U2 got lucky for 25 years. Like I said before, Oasis is an awesome band. They have long idolized U2. There are different styles of rock and roll, and U2 owns theirs. It’s OK to be jealous. And I don’t have a little sister, even though your mother has long since wanted to have my child and I had to deny her.

C’mon – Isn’t it about the music? In which case they’re all great.
Looking forward to seeing Ryan Adams in Birmingham UK

ryan adams is better. and why the fuck does gallagher have a “swagger?” they needed jay-z to make fun of them just to boost their sales in the US. oasis plays some good music in my opinion, but their attitude gets a bit embarrassing after awhile
