Neil Diamond To Refund 11,000 Tickets After Poor Ohio Performance

Following a poor performance at a concert in Columbus, Ohio, singer Neil Diamond felt it necessary to say sorry to his fans. But instead of just issuing an apology (which he did) and promising to perform better his next time through Ohio (which he said he will), Diamond will instead refund the tickets of every single person who attended the August 25th concert at the Value City Arena. To break it down numerically, that’s 11,000 tickets that the Solitary Man will refund.

Diamond is in the thick of a U.S. tour, and during the last few shows, the singer had been suffering from acute laryngitis. He still made it to the Columbus stage, but fans were soon greeted onstage by a hoarse sounding singer. “Dear Fans in Columbus,” Diamond said in a statement, “I haven’t let you down before, and I won’t let you down now. Until you hear from me again remember, You are the sun. I am the moon. You are the words. I am the tune. Forgive me. I love you. Neil.” The all-out refund shocked even the concert’s promoter, with Scott Stienecker saying “I’ve sat through Vince Neil falling-down drunk before. I’ve sat through Bob Dylan not even acknowledging that there was a crowd,” and neither of those artists refunded the fans. In an effort to avoid future refunds, and due to his ongoing throat problems, Diamond has cancelled two concerts this week.

All these little 20-somethings out there, listen up. Regarding your one-hit wonders of today, do you think they’re going to be around in another 10 years? Will their music endure? I think not! Long after you’re gone, Neil Diamond’s influence on music will still live on. He surely IS a legend of our times…our Sinatra…and that isn’t bad at all! To the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: What’s up with you guys? Why hasn’t Neil been inducted? He should have been in the Hall of Fame years ago! Please, acknowledge him as the true, honest talent that he is and give him the recognition he so mightily deserves!! Neil, you’re a class act, sweetie. Dallas can’t wait to see and hear you again. After all, this is Diamond Country! Get well…hugs and kisses to you from across the miles.

Neil is one of the best if not the best performer I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen many. It says a lot about his character that he is willing to do this.

Yes, Neil should be in the Hall of Fame. I know he is unfairly labeled as an easy listening artist, but if they can induct Bobby Darin, why not Neil Diamond?

This just goes to show what a class act Neil Diamond is. To issue a refund after a show just goes to show that he really does care about putting on the best performance possible for his fans.

It is an outright disgrace that Neil Diamond is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If there was anyone in recent times that should be in there already it’s Neil Diamond.

A classy, stand up act from a great performer.

One of the coolest, straight-up things I’ve ever heard a performer do. Wow. I can’t even get a free taco when they jack up my order at Taco Bell.
