Kaki King Thinks Dave Grohl Has Too Many Cheesy Rock Moves

8/26/08, 1:41 pm EST

At last weekend’s Outside Lands festival, RollingStone.com’s Pete Maiden caught up with Kaki King to talk about San Francisco and cops on horses. She admits she needs to take a lesson on rock and roll moves, but thinks that former tour mate Dave Grohl takes it a little too far. “He’s got a box full of cheesy rock moves,” the singer-songwriter jokes. “He sticks his tongue out as far as possible any moment he can!” Click above for the full interview with King, including why she aligns herself with cauliflower.

He’s also got a catalogue of cheesy rock music.

He also has a history of some of the best drumming in the last twenty or so years.

More drums, less guitar!

Hey Kaki,

I don’t care that you’re a woman. Shut the hell up! :-)

Go sell some tickets and then you can rip on successful people. Thanks.

Bitchfinder General | 8/27/2008, 4:10 am EST

Have no idea who the hell Kaki King is, but Foo Fighters are one of the worst rockbands out there…still I forgive Dave and his many bad grunge records (and cheezy rock moves) since he loves Lemmy.

killyouridols | 8/27/2008, 11:32 am EST

This ain’t worth to be covered or taken as news. I didn’t get informed about what kaki king sounds like…

Bunny | 8/27/2008, 2:50 pm EST

I’ve got a confession to make…no one cares.

Kaki King is a genius guitar player and you would do well to check her out. Listen to her last album ‘…Until We Felt Red’ to start and then pick up (or download) her new one, ‘Dreaming of Revenge.’

The Buffet in Vegas | 8/29/2008, 12:23 am EST

Umm since when do we carry cauliflower? No one like that shit.

PUMPKINS33 | 8/29/2008, 12:16 pm EST

To all you morons with uniformed opinions-just check her music out. Its original and amazing. She is friends with the Foos, cant you tell that she is joking? Dave personally picked her to open a bunch of shows because she is that good. Plus, shes also hot. And if you dont like the foos, you obviously have bad taste or terrible ears

HAGAR! | 8/30/2008, 2:37 am EST

Grohl’s music is awful…but I do love the guy…I will put up with his terrible music just to have him around…I really like when he sings with Will Farrell…he should do more of that!
Thank you for listening.

Cheesy music my ass-

Sebastian | 10/2/2008, 10:05 pm EST

Kaki King in nothing compared to the late great genius of Michael Hedges.
Period.

On the odd occasion they play together live Dave Grohl introduces Kaki on stage as “his favourite guitarist”.

While it is doubtful that she is his true fave of all time, there is clearly a good amount of good hearted banter between the two.

She’s on the Foo’s latest album, i’d say they have a pretty good relationship.

If Mr Grohl watched it he’d find it funny. Unless he’s a total ass, but he is largely considered to be “a good guy” from what i’ve read/seen/heard.

Kaki is a pretty acomplished singer/songwriter who plays the drums and all kinds of other stuff aswell as solo acoustic. People should check her out on youtube first, then feel free to critisize as is your right. But make it a decent argument, otherwise what is the point?

Michael Hedges, for he who mentioned him, is probably “better”, because he has incredibly technique and feel, but had a fair bit longer to hone his craft. She’s still young, who knows where she’ll go.

Foo Fighters are one of the most successfull rock bands in the world, no amount of saying they suck is going to change the opinions of the millions of people world wide who enjoy their music and performances and who would firmly disagree with any “suckiness” comments.

They scientifically don’t suck. Don’t argue with me, argue with science. :P

Cue childish replies from those lacking in humour and sense.
