Usher, Keith Urban to Kick Off NFL Season with Free Show

8/12/08, 10:59 am EST

Keith Urban and Usher will both help ring in the NFL season with a free concert at New York’s Columbus Circle on September 4th. Highlights from the NFL Kickoff concert will air over both NBC and the NFL Network, because both broadcasters evidently assume football fans like Usher and Keith Urban. Note to whoever schedules these things: The great majority of football fans do not like Usher or Keith Urban, as evidenced by the fact that they don’t appear on the Madden ‘09 soundtrack. The kick-off concert will lead into the season’s opening game as the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants take on their NFC East rival Washington Redskins. Last year’s kickoff show in Indianapolis featured performances by John Mellencamp, Faith Hill, Kelly Clarkson, Hinder and Keyshia Cole.

All the acts listed above (usher?)
are talented in their genres. But
if the NFL had any sense they would
have one man & one man only start
all the games just as he used to for 16years!!! for the great weekly friends get-togetheir ABC
Monday Night Football, Yes i am talking about Hank Williams Jr.
BOCEPHUS crosses all lines when it
comes to opening a NFL game. That
is a proven fact!!! ABC tryed one
year without Hank Jr. using instead a line-up of different big name acts…Mariah Carey,Boys to Men, Areosmith,etc…etc…16 different acts. ABC was swamped with calls, letters, faxes, They hired Hank back for the next year.
He finished out ABC’s run on MNF.
The college marketing “experts” do
not have a clue what the football
fans like to kick it off with, If they did they would have Hank Williams Jr.

Jim Hudson knows what he’s talking about. Keith Urban is one of the best artists in country music, and he often goes unnoticed for no apparent reason. The man can perform!!!!!

Obviously this writer does not know what he is talking about! I am a huge Football fan, but an even BIGGER Keith Urban fan. I love Usher too! I am looking foward to this pre-show more than any in the past. (excpet when Bon Jovi performed!) Keith is going to win over a few fans on the way. He is fantastic in concert!

I met Keith Urban backstage at one of his concerts. He’s a cool cat.
He’s also a guitar genius. He’s one hellava entertainer, and the NFL will benefit from his talent.

I met Keith Urban backstage at one of his concerts. He’s a guitar genius. The NFL will benefit from having him in the musical line up.
The boy can play and sing!

I give Keith Urban a big HOO-RAH for playing a free concert, not that he needs the publicity. The man is an incredible talent. I seen him perform in Orlando, Florida and I am hooked. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen… And I too am a football fan but, I’m looking more forward to seeing him perform than the game itself..LOL..

If you’ve never seen Keith Urban live you are missing out on seeing & hearing an awesome entertainer. Keith is an extremely talented musician, singer, songwriter, and he has a top notch band backing him up. Garth Brooks has said that Keith is one of the nicest people in the entertainment industry. You owe it to yourself to go to a Keith Urban concert…you’ll walk away in total amazement at what this man can do with a guitar, all the while singing his heart out (the emotion he puts into a song is awesome).

does anyone know the name of the song Keith Urban sang on the NFL kick off show?

Cameron | 10/31/2008, 10:56 pm EST

Keith Urban us a great artist!!! you guys would have been blown away. And to Mike Pierce it is true that Hank Williams Jr. is a great artist, and is in fact one of Keith’s idols, so its great to see support given to him.
